    Ice/Ice Brutes?

Hrm. Ice Melee, Freezing Touch is only a single target hold, so keeping that as it is can work. The main problems are Ice Patch and Frozen Aura. My suggestions would be:

1: Frozen Fists (keep as it is)
1: Ice Sword (keep as it is)
2: Frost (keep as it is)
6: Freezing Touch (move into lower level, keep as it is)
8: Build Up (keep as it is)
12: Taunt (move into level 12 to standardize)
    18: Ice Patch (see below)
    26: Frozen Aura (see below)
32: Greater Ice Sword (superior damage instead of high, move into level 32)
    • Ice Patch - give them a localized (PBAoE) weaker version of Sleet with reduced radius (10"?). Enemies can still attack, and it would work in conjunction with Ice Melee's lowish damage, raising it due to the -res in Sleet.
    • Frozen Aura is now Ice Sword Circle from Dominator's Icy Assault.

Could work as a specialised Brute.

    As for Ice Armor...

    1: Frozen Armor
    2: Hoarfrost
    4: Chilling Embrace
    10: Wet Ice
    16: Permafrost
20: Glacial Armor (swap with Icicles)
28: Icicles (swap with Glacial Armor)
    35: Energy Absorption
    38: Hibernate

Other than two swaps, I don't really see what's wrong with this one. :3
  2. If you're just going for badge names then here's the names (the villain badges will change their names if you go back to being a hero):

    Scirocco
    Villain badge name: Mirage
    Hero badge name: False Image

    Captain Mako
    Villain badge name: Bloodletter
    Hero badge name: Shark Bait

    Ghost Widow
    Villain badge name: Spider's Kiss
    Hero badge name: Anti-Venom

    Black Scorpion
    Villain badge name: The Stinger
    Hero badge name: Fwoosh

Remember you can only pick one patron! If you pick Black Scorpion and go back to being a hero, then you're stuck with Fwoosh as your patron badge!
  3. I don't like how Phantasm is like 2 and a half metres tall (or probably taller) compared to my controller. I'd like my female ill/rad controller to use the doppelganger tech ingame to make white phantom versions of herself for her Phantom Army and Phantasm. That way, more customised pets, and smaller to boot!

Tons of people took Mastermind Thugs primary without the pets just for Dual Pistols. This was like at least 8 issues before Dual Pistols came out because people just couldn't wait for it. It's probably even more earlier than Issue 10, but my memory doesn't work so well that far back. :3

I still remember the people actually complaining about players who made such alts, as if it was ruining THEIR fun, and them trying to convince everyone to not play with petless Thug players. It was so ridiculous. XD
  5. Anything other than Dark Melee, Kinetic Melee and Dark Armor then.

There's a whole ton of Brute combinations you can try out. Brutes have more options to pick from than Scrappers in their primaries, with the same secondaries too. Fire Melee? Shield Defense? Super Strength? Invulnerability? So many choices!

If you don't know the mindset of a Brute, try thinking of a more sturdy Scrapper who likes to be in "Scrapperlock" status all the time.

My Brutes which I have are:

    Super Strength/Super Reflexes
    Electric Melee/Electric Armor
    Dark Melee/Fire Armor
    Fire Melee/Shield Defense
    Energy Melee/Invulnerability
    Stone Melee/Willpower

Try any combo which looks interesting to you and give it a try.
  6. Scrappers still have criticals.
  7. If people wish to swear like a sailor in an online game where plenty of other people can see (including moderators) regardless, I believe the idiom it's your funeral comes to mind. :3
  8. Overpower is used by a Controller whenever they attempt to mez an opponent be it hold or stun or immobolize or others, as long as they're the one doing it and not a pet. When you see Overpower, an extra point of magnitude is applied to that power, which means you can randomly hold bosses, or at the least, helps in stacking holds.

Issue 19, as mentioned before. We're currently on Issue 18. :3

That's only if I'm in a PuG and 'playing politely'. When I'm with friends, it's every melee alt for themselves, especially in large areas with mobs spread everywhere! (and squishies momentarily panic on who to follow, hehe)

How odd, installing it for the first time has PVP mode on by default. XD Might be something to adjust in the future, haha.

And I suppose we need an Officer Janice in every police station with a pet miniature PPD Enforcer drone?

It used to be fun watching him attack the lava after he was released, though.

Also, are you a space runaway?
I don't have a sword or gun powerset. ;_; And I'm a full 100% hero at well, haha.

Perhaps Statesman the original may have been used by the devs... but then, when City of Villains was in final day of beta or something, I heard the new versions of the Phalanx, including Statesman with Zeus' Lightning was used (and controlled) by the devs to fight the heroes.

  17. Something seems wrong with resistance readings. Check my planned ill/rad controller build for i19 using new Mids v1.810.

Her resistance to everything is capped at 75%, which is like impossible without outside help, haha.
  18. Lady Jane was already buffed once (Pet to Boss), and fixed once (attempted fix on aggro issues), but didn't seem to work, haha.

As the head of the Dawn Patrol, she should probably be a stronger than average NPC. Maybe the easiest way to increase her survivability would be to just move her to Elite Boss status. It's only one mission, and not really an abusable mission at that (Lady Jane's attacks are based on Mastermind pistol skills, so they're somewhat weak and slow anyway).

I wouldn't mind too much if she was either given Dual Pistols powerset OR Malta Gunslinger powerset (except for teleport) as an upgrade to her powers though.

Zeus' Lightning is a PBAoE, if I remember, covering a largish radius. States also has Hammer of Justice which is the punch the ground one causing damage and knockback, Footstomp (as standard), and Handclap (which does knockback AND damage, the cheating blighter).

The original Archvillain level 54 Statesman seen in the original Maria's arc only has Footstomp and Handclap, but also has Thunderous Blast (from Electrical Blast powerset, to tie in the Zeus roots). Problem is, Statesman as a level 54 AV entity in that mission has nothing to face which would reduce his health enough to use it, so you'll never see it in action.

It seems like with all the tanks blue-side, brutes would be asked to be all-out DPS slightly more often than red-side. That in turn would suggest that the brutes with fast self-fury sets (e.g., claws) and/or lots of AOE (for grabbing aggro) would be at a small advantage, as well as DPS-focused secondaries like SD and fire over higher-survivability secondaries like /stone and /inv who may find their survivability going to waste a bit more often.

Speculation aside, is that how it has ended up? Can anyone with a blue-side brute (or who has teamed with one enough to go beyond speculating) enlighten me?
My SS/SR brute fulfills twin roles of scrapper and tanker for the most part. If there's a tanker already on team, then I'll let them take the alpha first (unless they're chicken tankers, then in which case, I'll step up). If there isn't a tanker, then I'll fulfill tanking roles, though I do warn the team I don't have taunt (which will change in i19 due to three extra power slots), only the AoE taunt aura, and Darkest Night.

Otherwise, I'll either be the second to charge in to add damage, or, I'll do second tanking duties by pulling extra mobs into the team (providing they're capable of dealing with them - I normally examine the team first and see how well they do, and start small).

I normally do tanking duties whenever I play as my brute in Imperious Task Force, for example.

Speaking of Romulus, I like how his cutscene was upgraded much later on to have a different angle so we could see the Nictus infusing itself into Rommy.

My personal favorite cutscene has to be Frostfire though:

Frostfire: "I was once like you, Hero."
Frostfire: "I too thought the world was simple."

    Lead Brick: "Yeah... simple!"

Frostfire: "Shut up, you moron." *FREEZE RAY*

    Lead Brick: *block of ice'd*

That taught me never to drink liquids while watching a cutscene for the first time.

I was the ill/rad controller Pirea dressed in black, the dead snowman was mine. I didn't mean to summon it, I pressed the wrong button when summoning the HVAS and Shivan. XD

I was part of the team which was able to bring down a tower from full health to nothing. Rather than that our team was overpowered in debuffs and damage, there appeared to be other problems with the other two towers due to double/triple spawns or something.

Still, if all the towers are equal in life and resistance, rather than try slowly reducing the HP of the tower down, it might be feasible to just knock it straight down from 100 health if all three teams are powerful enough... hrm.
  23. To relearn how to play, picking a Scrapper or Brute is generally a good idea. Shield secondary is probably the most popular secondary at the moment next to Willpower, as Shield still feels sort of new, and has a great AoE attack, while Willpower is quite self-sufficient.

As for primary, try picking something you haven't used before to give it a try, just so it feels new. The new Kinetic Melee might be an option if you don't mind the fancy animations. :3 Failing that, go Fire Melee with Shields (regardless of AT), as that's a fun choice, I've found. And if picking Willpower... how about Electric Melee on Scrappers, or Stone Melee on Brutes?
  24. Hrm. Personally, I'm sort of happy with it now. Any of my fighting alts which didn't have Hasten due to a tight build can well, take it now, even if they can only put one slot on it, haha. As some has mentioned, either Maneuvers or Stealth for an extra Luck of the Gambler and never use it due to only one slot, or even a primary or secondary power which I didn't take before... only, with one slot.

    HRM.

Would it be too much to ask for a few extra slots? o_O Even if Fitness is now free, we still have to dedicate slots onto it to make it work, so any new powers we pick will basically be barebones if we don't want to change our builds too much...
