    My Suggestion

I have logged in the past 2 days but don't play. I don't really see the point in it anymore

Mainly just chit chat with friends...as we decide on which game to move to.

I'm not even sure I want to start playing another MMO truth be told.
  2. I just redeemed: 3592-BQUT-4MZN-CH5W-WXSD

Think it was the 3rd or 4th one I tried (I just randomly chose some to try).

    Thanks

    Wait, what?

But then, here on the forums a few days ago (first post, btw; long time lurker) and again in a chat between two team mates in game, I heard people talking about using influence to power level some of their toons.

So, for all I knew, influence was this transitory thing people used to buy enhancements to upgrade their character. I'm a bit lost as to how one uses influence to do it. It doesn't seem to, I dunno, seem like an adequate form of payment if it involves giving it to someone to let them doorsit. Am I missing something here?
This has basically been happening since the game started. Player A (lowbie) gives Player B (Farmer) x amount of influence for farming them. It generally depends on a few things:
    Experience of Farmer
    Greed of Farmer
Demand for PL (if no one is looking price tends to be lower)
Amount being farmed (ambush farm versus a longer cave farm for example).
Some farmers will farm from x level to x level for a certain price while others are a set price based on the map.

You will see a lot of people go on and on and on about how evil PLing is, but I say to each their own...it is after all your toon and your money (inf). No one is being taken advantage of imo when it comes to farming... the farmer provides a service and gets something out of it (inf) and as the "customer" you are free to either take part or not.

I do not pay for farms; friends and I trade off farming each other for free.

And to agree with other posters.....the amounts that are being charged for some items is...quite honestly, ludicrous. Gold farmers charge less. Lower prices and I'll -consider- it. And even at a 50% off sale, 1000 points for a very rare set is outlandish. That's almost two month's worth of a sub cost in points. If you're a Tier 9 VIP and getting 550 points a month! ( Yes, I don't view those points as "free" because I have to spend $15 a month to get them. Unless I'm wrong in thinking non-VIP's don't get a monthly stipend of points to spend, in which case...OOPS. ^_^ )

It really -is- a smack in the face and saying "Hey, the fifteen dollars monthly you toss at us as a subscription price ISN'T ENOUGH. We want more." Which I really don't have a problem doing...as long as I'm getting what I want for my money. This is why I'm sitting on 1900 points and five tokens. There's nothing I -want- right now. Hasn't been for months.
You are wrong - Only VIPs get a FREE monthly stipend. Everyone else who wants points has to buy them.
  5. Fire/Fire Brute
    Elect/Fire Brute
    SS/Fire Brute
    Seeing the trend here?

Controller won't be an option on a freebie acct since trollers are restricted.
Most /Fire brutes can do decent on just SOs especially with red/purple insps.

Second, being able to use the PVP Rep points for something is an idea I fully support. I'm not sure on what the numbers are, but I do agree that 60 Rep may be a bit low on this. If we're talking 60 Rep earned from 60 legitimate PVP kills (taking into consideration the fact that Rep decreases over time), then I can see this as a decent argument.

That being said, there are other, faster ways of earning Rep (such as someone with 20 Rep more than you permitting you to kill them, allowing you to get bonus Rep per kill). In the past, an SG-mate and I have easily taken characters up from 0 Rep to the capped 400 Rep in a day trying to get PVPIO's.

I think for an idea like this to work, not only would the Rep quantity have to be higher, but there would also have to be a time limit put in place for how frequently you can convert Rep to an IO. Of course, if you keep it low, there is a chance that this can be used as a method to breathe some life into PVP (should the Devs care to do so).
This would not get me to go back to pvp...just saying. I pvp'd for quite awhile, and while the payout was one of the reasons I quit pvping...it was the tiniest reason.

So no the ability to farm rep for purple recipes would not get me to go back.... I can already farm purple recipes if I want to and in the process make inf, help friends level, etc.... all while being able to do it solo or choose the player(s) I want around me chatting with.

    Personal request

Silly question, but couldn't you just send her an email? I mean I have no idea what this is about but I would think if "she" was important enough to go through all this on here....you would have already had her email (out of game).

Did you try seeing if she posts on the forums and you could send her a PM here?

The funny thing is the most populated servers are still Freedom and Virtue, not the designated VIP server. That says it all really.
    LOL minor perks?

The ability to run my solo SG without needing anyone else - not really a MINOR perk imo; especially considering I have billions in storage.

Incarnate content alone is not a "minor" perk - since a lot of the resources are continuing to go into the end game by the dev team - an end game which I thoroughly enjoy and spend about 90% of my game time doing.

Your "minor" perks are just that... your minor perks. The incarnate system is what kept me from cancelling my sub as "the journey" to 50 again and again...grew tiring for me after 6 years.

Regarding Exalted - why would I leave my home server for a new one?? I have my base...and more importantly my friends on my server. I never quite understood the logic behind Exalted...unless it was to steer clear of the occasionally obnoxious freebie/freemium which is what /gignore is for imo.

Now if there were discounts like that in the market that would be just 1 way to lure me to sub, but as of now being VIP doesn't attract me at all. I will stick to my premium account and am very content with it at the moment.
Well you never spoke to me and I would disagree with you.. I feel very much so like a VIP.

You already get a "discount" with your free Paragon Points ...towards power sets.

I have never spent real money to buy points to buy a power set.... Only "pay" sets I do not have are StJ and Nature Affinity (neither interests me).

    BAH!

I have been stuck on Stage 4 @ 97% for a day now. For some reason it just will not download anymore. I wanted to do the Mako event while I was away from home on business trip but I do not see that happening tomorrow.

Sigh... Oh well at least I am not missing out on a badge or anything

    Installer Help

I am out of town sitting in a hotel and decided to install coh. So I downloaded the installer and it is stuck at 0% on Stage 4. Any clue on how to fix this? Running windows 7. I seem to remember people having this issue awhile ago but my search fu is apparently weak as I could not find the threads/posts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thankfully there is Clarion

Blast sets got some love with short ranged blasts being bumped to 80 feet, snipes can be "insta-cast" if you have adequate +to hit, and ranged blast Tier 9 "nukes" no longer have a crash and have dramatically reduced recharge times.

    Synapse
    Not to nitpick...but:
From reading this it looks like nukes like Inferno and Nova for example are not crash-less nukes because they are PBAOE nukes and not RANGED? Am I misreading that or???

    Banter channel?

Meh...I ignore broadcast/help/lfg etc...I found/find the convos in these chans to mainly be useless. I stick to my global chans 99% of the time. So I would just end up ignoring a banter channel.
  19. Incarnate content is what keeps me subbed for the most part...so yeah looking forward to more ipowers As for what II would like....pretty open
  20. The whole RNG of this would be a HUGE deterrence from me ever using this set. I want to know when I toggle something on it is going to do something specific and not something random.
  21. Meh to me it's just an option that would needlessly clutter the system. It is not that hard to delete YOUR unwanted recipe. I make millions off of what you have stated are "useless" recipes so they are not useless to everyone

Gonna /unsign as I do not think it is needed as the ability to delete them already exists and a new "junk" folder isn't really needed.
  22. Ultimus if you want some hands on instruction for base building feel free to send me a PM or in game tell. I can join your SG and show you some things, explain stuff, etc.

I prefer to do my base building guides/lessons/tutorials on skype as it's a lot easier to talk than type when teaching people.

I will be away on business from Sunday 7/29/2012 through Friday 8/3/2012, but free after that if interested.
  23. This is the build I am currently using on my water/dark/psi corruptor - it is quite sturdy

As you can see I did not take as much from dark or water as you did; lemme explain why:

Hydro Blast: The DPA on this is not as good as Aqua Bolt...I do not like the animation and the 1.67 cast time makes it a meh power IMO.
Steam Spray: I loathe cones and found it unnecessary in my chain.

Darkest Night: I find the -30 Resist from Tar Patch to be plenty and to not only debuff but keep enemies in the debuff/aoe area.
Fearsome Stare: I would rather take the time to kill the baddies then make them scared
Dark Servant: I didn't slot this much as I rarely use him; when I do it is mainly for a lil bit of aggro deflection.

Since I am a Corruptor and I stay in ranged blasting away I focused on the ranged defense.

I found Psi Mastery to be have a good resist shield as well as give me a good hold (helpful in certain TFs/trials).

    My thoughts exactly.

Not sure how the TUNNEL system affects anyone's game play if they don't want it to; it's not like you are being forced to use it.

As far as bases...I have said it many times before - sure I would love some attention to bases, but I am a realist and realize that is no easy task due to the many technical issues involved.

The one full of deceit and egos, inexperience and ignorance.

We have quotes saying they would keep investing time into it, we have quotes from them trying to justify the changes and we even have some quotes of people inside finally admitting it was a bad idea.

It's not much better than what you listed in the OP, just on a smaller scale.

I wish I could find the quote I'm looking for, but Macskull defined it perfectly by stating that COH PvP, a lot of players favourite part of their favourite game by far, was taken away from them, beat up, changed forever and thrown back saying "Here, you'll love this".

What part of the game do you love the most? Now imagine I've never done it before, but I walk in and decide how it should be done. Let's say I think badges should be purchasable from the market, or change old content to require teams with the new model, or let's just say that I hide all of the COH numbers from the min/maxers (or like DR, which is only understood by 1-2 PvErs)

Then again, maybe they made so many bad moves that they've learned from it. Castle's gone at least.

I honestly wouldn't wish what happened to PvP i13 on any part of the game.

It's by far the darkest history this game has. 4 years later I'm still digging through the ruins of all of it to learn exactly what happened, because there's an enormous amount of rage/hate/dissatisfaction about the subject. On these forums and others.
    Over 90% huh?

Destroyed every big organized event? Hmmm seems Freedom pvpers are gearing up for a new 5v5 tournament - this of course after the "small and completely unorganized"[sarcasm] 8v8 tournament where Ware.Gov won.

Well since we are just making statistics up - Over 90% of the player base has no interest in pvp - then and now - I have a feeling my "statistic" is more factual.

The decline of pvp must be attributed to solely Issue 13 and has nothing to do with oh... a multitude of other reasons. I mean Pre Issue 13 pvp had thousands of people pvping non stop. Pre Issue 13 pvp was obviously very successful. Pre Issue 13 pvp had no bugs/flaws that I can even think of and was completely balanced. No clue why they went messing around with such a great system.... oh wait.

FYI the changes to pvp are NOT by far the "darkest history this game has." Enhancement Diversification impacted almost every player and was met with such overwhelming disgust by a HUGE majority of the game that it makes the changes to pvp in I13 a footnote in this game's history. Heck I see more threads/complaints etc about Freedom than I did with pvp. I see more threads/complaints about gated costumes than I ever did with pvp. PVP never was and never will be an integral part of CoH - it was an after thought and imo one that should have never been implemented. Castle was/is a human being you know and I get very tired of people blaming Issue 13 on him and him alone. The changes that were made in I13 were actually in response to **gasp** player requests. And yet here we are 10 issues and 3.5 years later and people still whine and blame Castle. You do know he had a boss who approved everything right? You do know he was not the one solely responsible for Issue 13 - it was a DEV collaboration on every aspect - he just happened to be the one who paid the price of being vilified for caring about pvpers and trying to do what he could to appease the then current ones while trying to find a way to get new players into pvp.

So what do you say...after over 3.5 years you give the guy a break. He was/is an awesome person and truly got the short end of the stick when the small population of pvpers threw a hissy fit. He put up with a lot of crap from pvpers and to me it was a sad day when he quit because Castle was overall good at what he did - and his contributions to this game should not be forgotten. Then again it is so easy for people to sit behind their keyboard on the internet and spew misinformation about people they perceive to be wrong...forgetting the fact that the person they are demonizing is a person who gave an awful lot to this game.
