Quote:Yup. All ya gotta do is show up.This sounds fun. I usually frequent Protector and Justice. However, I would be interested in getting in on this. You guys would welcome me right... with open arms and warm chocolate chip cookies? LOL
I'll roll a Fire/Rad tonight and start leveling. I don't think I will be nearly as high as you guys are by tomorrow night. As long as it's ok I would love to team up with you.
We'll see you there. -
Okay, I was an FPS guy for a long time.
Used to actively denigrate "rent to pwn".
Anyhoo, I was in the beta for Multiplayer BattleTech: 3025.
Before EA tanked it, it was the first game I ever even considered paying for monthly.
Cue long dry spell.
Out comes Pirates of the Caribbean Online. I responded to the Free To Play trial. I wound up having so much fun, I forked over for 6 months.
After a while it kinda palled though. The game essentially has a single AT. Pirate. So while your skills can differ, all your pirates are essentially the same.
Around 2008 I was walking through the local Frys and saw, again, City of Heroes. I'd heard good things about the game (though I was somewhat opinionated about the in-game advertising). So I picked it up and had an absolute blast.
2+ years later, I'm still putting boot to buttock. -
Okay, all the in-game images are clickable for full-size (WARNING! 1920x1080! BIIIIIG!) images. If you want to see them all you can see them here.

Okay, we had two teams this week. And, being my team's tanker I was offered the lead.

I...

Err, I took the job, as I want to be able to lead them eventually anyhoo. Luckily I was with a fairly experienced team, so they didn't need much hand-holding.
I'd LOVE to say that we pulled it off.
No such luck.
We had a false-start when during mission 2, someone ran into a corner full of mobs on the way to the surface. We decided to just restart and go again.
Sands. Cooked.
Mu'Drakhan. Cooked.
Korol. Cooked.
Shadow Spider. Cooked.
Viridian. Cooked.
The thorns room I had a bit of trouble. I was on my stoner and I'm not a very...graceful player to begin with. My team picked up the slack though.
Thorn Tree. Cooked.
On the next mish we got lucky as hell and the Security Chief was in the first mob.
Wretch. Cooked.
Silver Mantis.. Cooked.
Barracuda. Cooked.
Ice Mistral. Cooked.
We got to Aeon, and I asked if everyone was ready. Unfortunately, I probably didn't beg for buffs on myself as much as I should have. I got in, dropped Aeon's shield, and got slapped down. Like INSTANTLY.

You said it Homer!
Meanwhile, my team stepped up again and proceeded to put that smarmy scientist into the hurt locker for me. I was touched. Seriously. No. Seriously! And I'm suing the pervy...ahem. Where was I?
At this point, the gloves came off and caution kinda went to the wind.
We charged in and annihilated the mobs just in front of the AVs.
We didn't really have anyone with a sniper shot, so I opted to just waltz up and burp in their faces. It actually worked okay after the first time.
On the first pull, we got Ghost Widow and Scirocco. We fell back (as I wasn't quite certain we'd handle both simultaneously). On the return trip, I was able to capture Ghost Widow before she got back in position. I pulled her out and we slapped her down in double extra quick time. Rads and traps and SoA/Widows OH MY!
Scirocco came next. Cooked.
Black Scorpion. Cooked.
Captain Mako. FISH FRY!
We cleared the mobs around Recluse's statue and were going to just go for a two-fer on the Flyer. We hopped at it, everyone got about one shot off and it despawned.
So we ran back around and got it as it spawned in. Wiped and done.
Up next. Recluse himself. Holding him wasn't much of a challenge at all. I backed up against one of the pillars and just kept him there. When the first two pillars went down I decided to back up to the other pillar. As my SB had long worn off, this took a bit longer...
At that point, it was "Stomp The Spider" time. My support controller went down to a bit of badly controlled (on my part) Bane aggro, but we still managed to slap Recluse silly (well, sillier).
All in all, a failed MoSTF, but a fairly nicely (and speedily, on our way out, we passed the second team going into their last mish) STF. With the same team next week, we could quite easily curb-stomp our way to an Mo badge.

My FF/Archery defender laughs politely behind her hands and refrains from pointing.
My Kin/Rad defender just looks at you with that "Have you lost your MIND?!?!?" look in her eye.
My Stone/Fire tank just laughs in your face and isn't even polite about it. Whew! Brimstone breath!
My Stone/Dark tank just gives you a look that sets this little chill running down your spine.
You then realize that this was all a Nemesis-worthy plot to distract your from my Inv/SS tanker who has snuck up behind you and etched "I'm the obsolete one! Kick me" into the back of your pants with his Laser Beam Eyes.

Quote:Raid telepad counts as one pad. It's too big for a 1x room. A 2x2 room should hack it, but it's a very tight fit and will strip the trim off at least 2 walls. The Raid Telepad looks about 4 times larger than normal Telepads. Will it fit into a Teleport Bay? (The 1 x 2 room) If I put it into a room, how many does it count as? For instance, the 5 x 5 room will hold eight normal Telepads. The Raid Telepad counts as how many of those eight?

And note, if you don't want to spend out the buku buckage for the LOTG recharge IOs, don't. I currently only have one such mounted in the build, I actually went Def-Def/End from LOTG to get the regen bonuses.

Quote:I made this character with Force Fields and Energy blaster figuring I love mez protection and love being elusive but i have a question. i19 comes out and stamina goes inherent and i was thinking get tough and weave but I'm not sure if Dispersion Bubble, Maneuvers, Tough, Weave, & Combat jumping will stifle my character endurance wise. I'm planning to spend around like 300mil for him so my Question is will the addition of tough and weave kill my stamina?
Okay, don't have an FF/Energy build available to me, but I just rebuilt my FF/Archery defender. Figured it might give some insight.
Capped Ranged and AOE with 36% Melee defense (and it's a flier).
Literally waltzed through an MoSTF last week right after the rebuild.
Didn't get a chance to test it in a ship raid this week (due to the zone filling before I could get in-game), though I will next week.

Part of it has to do with ground-effect powers (Foot Stomp, Burning Feet, etc).
These powers are impossible to trigger from a flying stance. Now, in some cases (like burning feet), you can trigger them first, THEN start flying. But for some characters, turning on a travel/defensive power that gimps your offense is an undesirable tradeoff.
Add to the fact that the raptor pack is relatively inexpensive...
Plus the disparity in endurance consumption versus CJ (granted, Hover actually provides a SLIGHTLY more versatile movement option). -
Quote:1: How End-Efficient are you at the moment?I'm respecing out of handclap. I'm a lvl 43 ss/inv tank and capped on my smashing/lethal resistance. I took conserve power earlier in the build and now wonder what I should choose in place of handclap. Would I get a big enough benefit from weave to take it at the moment? Or should I combine conserve power with hasten for more hits per minute?
2: What are your non-SL defense numbers at right now? -

Oh, and the return of Jeffster was just pure gold. "Is there room in that womb for two?" Even my wife did a spit-take there. Awesome.

Quote:Because, with patrol XP, it doesn't really speed up your leveling as much as it used to. As such, not worth the hassle.srsly, why is there no mention of 2xp for the reactivation weekend? if there is no 2xp just tell us, so i can be openly bitter along with everyone else that pays and continues to pay and gets some lame weekend event that makes no differance to us. . . .
Plus it tended to bring out really nasty behavior (well, for some, nastier than usual) in some people. -

Another crazy night at Fire/Rads.
We had a small turnout tonight, so we decided to go work on accolades in Croatoa for a bit. Pumpkin Master/Mistress, Bane of Danan, Bewitched, Cap Buster. All of them, TOAST! Then, for laughs, we ran a Katie. As we were only 5, we picked up an enterprising blaster and made our way to the TF.
Dear LORD! Mary MacComber never knew what hit her! She and her spawns kept coming in on top of us. Cue much choking and burning. The knockback was a bit of an issue (she was overcoming my single knockback IO too), and a few deaths were had, but we never team wiped and just marched on through the spawns to Ten Times The Victor. Heck, there was barely any endurance drain going on.
The second mission, we probably should have just reverted to standard Fire/Rad practice and marched through, cooking everything in our path. We decided to stealth it, and it took somewhat longer.
The kill-all was straightforward. Stun, cage, choke kill.
On the last, we were hampered by the fact that Katie's soul won't fly out with you anymore and the fact that she was aggroing on EVERYTHING. So it kinda turned into a kill all. In the end, the blaster was lamenting that he hadn't brought HIS Psi/Rad instead. He also, unfortunately, bailed from the team before we could get a screenshot with him in it.
Afterward, a few people still needed progress on their badges, so it was back to cooking ghosts and Fir Bolg for a bit.
All in all a VERY productive night. With exploration badges from Talos and Croatoa, I picked up something like 20 badges.
Vortex Core made level 45 during the TF.
Warmly Yours made level 38.
Of the Fire/Radders tonight, we were:
- Zero Decay
- Vortex Core
- Warmly Yours
- Hot.Stuff
- Greased Wheels

Quote:How hard is it to:I'm at the point now that I'm willing to accept pretty much any change to this power so long as it doesn't bring me to a screeching halt every (what feels like) 5 seconds. UUUGGHHH
- Slot for enough recharge that Rage crashes right about the time it comes back up again? Net effect on defense? Zero.
- Have a tray with your temp attacks available? Remember, temp attacks aren't affected by the damage crash. Nor is Taunt.
By the time you:
- Hit Rage
- Taunt
- Hit Sands of Mu
- wait for all the animations to finish, your damage is right back at it's previous high level.
So what's the female dog here? -

Over the past 5 months, the Freedom Fire/Rads group has been running weekly events. We've choked and cooked more enemies than you could shake a nuke at. And more, it's been FUN!
However, not everyone can make our primary event at the scheduled time (or at least not easily). After discussion with other regulars, it's been decided to offer another date for getting your Fire/Rad on in addition to the primary time/date.
Server: Freedom
Day: Friday (Would be pretty dumb to hold something called "Friday Night Firefights" on a Tuesday)
Start Time: 7:00 PM Eastern, 6:00 PM Central, 5:00 PM Mountain, 4:00 PM Pacific
Meeting Place: The Hill on Talos Island
Point of Contact: @Hyperstrike1 (Running as Vortex Core or Flamin' Trolla)
AT Requirements: Ideally, you should be a Fire/Rad. Controller On rare occasions we'll accept other powersets or ATs. But only by consent of the whole group.
Level Requirements: None for the free-form period. Activities for the structured half may impose their own level requirements.
Note: This DOES put the event before some people on the West Coast get off of (let alone, home from) work. Not to worry, the event runs until we run out of people who want to play. So if we run 3-4 hours, GREAT! I've got a 4-hour block dedicated to this time if necessary, and can plan for longer if called for.
Please note that while Mondays are primarily a TF-fest for us, I plan on Fridays being more free-form. The first half of the night will be missions-oriented. Either story arcs that our players wish to participate in, alignment missions, or AE if someone has an arc they want to run.
The second half, unless someone wants to do something else, will be used for more goal-oriented activities. This may be a taskforce, a trial, raids, or even runs into PVP areas for goodies (Warburg Nukes, Shivans, etc).
If you have any questions, shoot me an e-mail in-game or contact me via PM here.

Quote:Operative term "could have been".While I think you're free to quit the team, I'll have to say, I disagree on one little part...
"and there was no way we were getting through the final two missions with play like that"
...the AV fights and regular part of the mission (at least for that TF) are completely different. I've been on teams that steamrolled through the fodder, only to struggle on the AVs, and teams that struggled on the minions and melted the AV.
Obviously, it sounds like that team needed people to stay together, I just want to point out, that team could of been a great AV team.
The fact that they wouldn't cooperate and everybody was trying to solo-zerg everything meant that, while we might have got that far, it would have taken an inordinately long time. And I wasn't prepared to commit 6 hours to an ITF. -
I dislike quitting out of taskforces. Normally I'll only do it if the team leader is being a complete and utter tool.
That being said, I've quit out of a couple task forces because the team wasn't playing as a "team".
Example: Last week I tried jumping in on an ITF. No tank, so we really needed to stick together and overlap our buffs to survive. We had a team playing like a bunch of defense-capped scrapper/brutes. Everyone going in a different direction and doing their own thing, regardless of what happened or what was said about getting organized.
10 faceplants in on the first mission and I dropped. I refuse the option of just sitting there, not contributing, and leeching XP and there was no way we were getting through the final two missions with play like that. -
Happy Birthday.
