Weave Or Hasten?

Bullet Barrage

I'm respecing out of handclap. I'm a lvl 43 ss/inv tank and capped on my smashing/lethal resistance. I took conserve power earlier in the build and now wonder what I should choose in place of handclap. Would I get a big enough benefit from weave to take it at the moment? Or should I combine conserve power with hasten for more hits per minute?

Hasten if you're capped.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

1: How End-Efficient are you at the moment?
2: What are your non-SL defense numbers at right now?

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Good questions here, but frankly if you're looking to maximize your durability then Weave can be very valuable indeed. I doubt you've soft capped your S/L/E/N defense without it... S/L is possible if you used Kinetic Combat sets but E/N is tough enough to do even with Weave.

On the endurance front if you 4 slot Tough Hide & Weave with Gift of the Ancients that nets you 3.6 points of endurance and 4% more recovery. It doesn't quite make Weave a net plus on end but it cuts it's deficit way down.

Hasten's nice to have, but from a durability standpoint Weave's a better choice. Hasten will also exacerbate any endurance issues you may have by simply increasing the speed you fire off your attacks. Right now I don't find room for Hasten on my Invuln tanker... I'd like to have it but I like the other powers I took more. Once issue 19 gives us 3 more powers to play with I'll certainly be reevaluating that decision but for now there's too many other things I need more.

I'm doing much better end wise now that I've added an extra slot for each of my major defenses. I can run a single mish with a full team (without rest) and have to pop a blue only once. As far as my other resistance it goes:

Ranged 6.13
Melee 11.13
AOE 3.
Fire 9.99
Cold 9.99
Energy 16.24
Negative 16.24
Psionic 3.

This is my first serious tank so I'm not even sure what good numbers would be. Anyway, with that in mind which power do you think I should take?

Actually, they were asking what your other DEFENSES are. Defense and resistance are not the same thing.

Resistance reduces how much damage you take from an attack, defense gives you a chance to not take any damage at all. (You probably already know that, I'm just stating it for posterity)

Since you don't resist anything other than Smashing and Lethal to any great degree, I'd say Weave would probably be the better choice here. Weave will increase your defense to the things you don't resist well, which would be Fire, Cold, Energy, N.Energy. And most importantly, Weave gives you a slight amount of defense to Psionic attacks, which Invincibility and Tough Hide don't give you any of at all. Granted, Weave doesn't give you a LOT os Psionic defense, but it's more than the 0% defense you probably have now

Hasten will let you attack faster, and will bring Dull Pain back faster, but if you have any end problems at all it will only make them worse (because attacking faster burns more endurance, and Hasten has a crash when it wears off that takes some of your endurance away)

If you can find room in your build to take both, by all means do so. If you can't fit both in, Weave is most likely the better pick.

I have to think Weave would help you out more. Even with capped resists to S/L, there are plenty of damage types out there that are going to hurt, and having those attacks miss you more via Weave will definitely help.

Hasten works out slightly better than combat jump for adding survivability to an Invuln. It more or less depends where you are starting from but I am thinking as though you've built on basic SOs or IOs. Weave offers double the def than CJ so it's going to be better.

Thanks for all the help guys. There was just this little part of me that kept saying "More hits! More hits!" I've seen the error of my ways. I definently don't want to put any extra strain on my end, even if I'm doing alright at the moment. Weave it is.

To clarify. I was in a rush earlier and misread the post mixing up defense/resistance. With tough, temp inv, unyielding, invincibility, and weave all on I get these numbers on defense:

Ranged 11.13
Melee 16.13
AOE 8.
Smashing 31.25
Lethal 31.25
Fire 15.
Cold 15.
Energy 21.25
Negative 21.25
Psionic 8.

This is pretty much to spec with the suggestions I’ve been getting from Call Me Awesome the last couple weeks. I'm assuming that's pretty good for a lvl 42 tank?

Once again. I really appreciate all the help I’ve been getting here on the forums. Like I’ve said, this is my first tank. So I’m learning a lot from you great people.
