  1. It you want something totally different you have /da

It has resistance, heal, psi protection and damage aura you can stack defense with cloak of darkness then you have a fear or disorient toggle you can use. You can softcap s/l with a build to really get it going but it is a tight on slot build
  2. I got my alpha last night got the default shard then ran a STF got 7 more shards and the full already completed shard instead of the merits so I was able to make my spiritual common
  3. I forgot to change my settings back to av I had it off for running tips missions at speed

Makes sense I will look it over some more on the slotting I am still playing with it at work so a little hard right now. I trying to squeeze your defense for you
  5. Why are you slotting up Mubolts and not taking Chain induction a better attack i trade that off over one with the shield

If I understand /SD and /DA as they now work, would the following comments be valid to their differences:
DA: Resistance, Damage Mitigation/Control (Cloak and Oppressive), Self-Heal, PBAoE Aura
SD: Defense, Damage Enhancement, slow recharding Active AoE

I'm thinking if you can manage your END use, EM/DA is really powerful potentially as an AoE. Would it hold up against EM/SD which seems more popular ATM?

    Some questions on powerset powers:

What are the core SD powers? I'm guessing:
    Defelction
    Battle Agility
    True Grit
    Active Defense
    Against All Odds
    Shield Charge
    One with the Shield

    For DM:
What is the conventional wisdom on Shadow Maul at this time? The animation is a disaster
Is Siphon Life still too little healf and too little damage for too much END/too slow RECH? Looks like with 4 Touch of Nictus and 2 Hecatomb, you can get END cost down to 8.681, RECH to 5s (!), ACC to 139%, heal to a little over 15% and Damage to 180NE. Now it still has that terrible 2s cast time, but still it seems respectable.

Ah, also, what are the IO sets du jour for DA, EM, DM and SD? Are they listed somewhere? I'll post a prospective build soon.

    Again, much appreciated.
Mids hero planner has the IO's and you can see your numbers EM is great aoe but hurts on the Single target

    http://www.cohplanner.com/

You goal on shield is to reach 45% to melee, aoe and ranged defense so you want to build for defense and recharge and endurance to a degree.

Mind you, it'll still be really, really good. It just won't be as good as I got used to before the IO nerfs, and perhaps not as good as I can do with some of my other toons. But it still remains to be seen what they do with the incarnate content, I suppose. And for that matter, what most of the incarnate slots will do. It's really hard to predict what's going to be good.
Well I gone local myself I decided when I19 hits I am going to pick two scrappers and focus just on them. My fire/sd and I bounced all over the place on this and went back forth on /wp /fire and a bunch of other stuff i settled on a rare combo i am going fire/da he is at 11 already yea I know crazy but it was the best mix I could come up with different than my shield real easy to get a real good ST chain and has really good aoe with FSC+Death Shroud

I guess with /SD it really gets a power boost that Spines has a hard time competing with now. Spines I guess would depend on DA with Death Shroud/Spine Burst/Throw Spines/Ripper/Quills. I'm guessing neither one is great for AV soloing.

I suspect that against mobs, /SD is better than /INV if you have some AoE stuff, but less useful against an AV, but isn't /Inv also weaker against a single target?

Thanks, that's great info btw. Always loved DM because it looks cool, it has neat effect stuff and best of all Neg NRG is one of the least defended against, so even at lower raw numbers, it is resisted less.

Looks like the armor cost/sec on DA has dropped considerably, only .208/s unmodified compared to .26/s for Fiery, Elec, SD, etc. I mean, yeah it needs to be spec'd hard, but it looks better than ever!

Ok, well, that's great stuff to think about. Thanks again!

no /SD is great against AV's it just takes more of an investment and does have a little less survivability over /inv. I have beat many of AV's with my Fire/sd I do have aidself on my build so my dps is still good but not the top end. I was able to still hit 232dps on the pylon with a non hasten build and I think i am running one of pretty solid ST chain. In fact I soloed Inferno took a lot of tries with my fire/sd since he has 50% fire resistance and hits like a Mac truck

    Good luck and enjoy

What I would like is an opinion on the solo-viable scrapper builds. I don't want to solo everywhere or everything, but I don't want to be PUG-dependent either. I used to play Spine/Regen in I2-I4 and I could solo really well. I also could solo well with Spine/WP in I13, though not quite as well as I would like, and DB/WP was quite awesome as well with the right combos.

So what is the build du jour for the solo-oriented scrapper today?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    La Noche Blanca
Well they all can and it depends on how much money you want to spend and your play style. If you want to fight AV's and solo them there are quite a few that do it well; electric and spines are not one of them so if that is a requirement skip. If you want a good mixture of aoe skip DM for sure.

They all work but the big question is what is your play style what levels do you want to reach and do you want to put in the time to farm the cash or do you want an out of the box set that takes cheaper IO investment.

Do you have a concept that you like ?

Oh my goodness I would love to try and see what i could do with a ss/sd scrapper and double stacked rage

It is to the point that the majority of the teams I have joined when they have a tanker it is mainly something/ss
  11. I wish we had double stacked rage on scrappers but I am sure that would be stupid broken
  12. You also got 5 % from hasten and with HO's at 50% you could perma hasten easier than the normal 6 slots you had to make it perma and you got 5% defense using it. Also which Invulnerability would you get would you get the i2 one where they rooted in place with invincibility and could not move or the i3 one with perma unstoppable one everyone ran.

When people would get xp by putting foot stomp on auto and leaving to watch movies while there tank was killing demons coming out the gate non stop (yea we use to get xp for every mob that came out)

Talk about demon farming maps haha that was crazy stuff

If we end up with 6 scrappers and a pair of 'trollers I'll run with it; we may have a rough spot or two but it should be doable as long as everyone knows what they're doing.

General teaming though I really don't much care, just bring whatever you like to play; odds are good that there will be enough good players to carry any dead weight. And if not then at worst you get a story to tell your friends. Most of us don't sweat the occasional team wipe.

We did an all scrapper stf with the repairmen bug and completed the thing
  14. Why not 5 slot it with crushing impact and add in the amazement at the end you would be better off in long term

I never played EverQuest, but I understand that you had to do things in a VERY specific way to survive, even more so than WoW. City of Heroes is much more forgiving, more flexible, and as probably most would agree, much easier. It's kind of like MMO-light.
That reminds me of this weekend on the task force I ran forgot I was not soft cap defense ran way ahead killing stuff got to much agro on my fire/sd and died and they where like dam. i said while I should have dodged better.

Since balance was much worse at the time, they were only the glory days for a fairly small group of players. For many people, any such rollback would be a return to the sucky days before their sets got fixed.

Me, I'd be happy to try it out. But I don't think it would be widely appreciated. The game is better now in my opinion, even if I don't get to watch my health bar fill like I've shoved a fire hose in it.
Some of it was great pre stacking armors on /DA sucked but once fixed COF used to rock 95% acc and mag 3 yea i take that again but dark regen had a base endurance burn of 50 for each use unslotted yea it made us cry back then

    Incinerate (4.22, +137%) -> Cremate (4.35, +84%) -> Greater Fire Sword (3.56, +237%)

Though I haven't poked my head into the recharge thread recently where Arcanaville was reviewing recharge requirements, and seeing something a little different than our standard calculations. I'd shoot for better than the above to be safe.

You can do slightly more DPS with Greater Fire Sword -> Incinerate -> Fire Sword, but that's a silly chain since it takes MORE recharge than the top chain to do less damage. I also have Incinerate -> Cremate -> Fire Sword -> Greater Fire Sword doing about the same DPS at much lower recharge (+134% in GFS), but that takes four attacks, so is inefficient in a different sense.

I'm not convinced I have the right damage info for Fire. Some things aren't quite making sense to me. I need to review it, but I'm not feeling up for it tonight.
Thanks I am running the 4 attack chain now I will have to look at my i19 build and see what i can do

Ok I iwll have to try an figure out the recharge I may use a respec and change things around and test. I have a non hasten build and running 67.5% global recharge

How has is the dps on that chain and what is the recharge required ?

I use one combo and love it for aoe runs and that is the sweep combo the only combo I have available on the toon
  21. Take shadow meld and rotate it in with mog + ih + DP and you will have a nice array of tools

So long Brutes, Tanks, Trolls, corrs, stalks, defs, scraps, blasts, doms and other weak ATs because FM/Shield scrap is the true master race.

ok I still like MMs, but srsly. My FM/Shield made my wildest dreams come true

anyway what I want to ask is does slotting Phalanx Fighting do anything? I slotted it up with +def and I don't think it does anyhting, is that a bug?
The best thing to do with Phalanx is drop an lotg or the kismet Unique and call it a day

Is there supposed to be another attack or two in here, or is this just where you're at at the moment? You're missing 2 of the 3 attacks for Sweep Combo (10k cuts and Typhoon).

With just those 4 attacks, the best I think you're going to do is this:
    BF>SS>AB>PS>AB>BF>SS>AB>PS>AB>Repeat
AB is awesome in this setup because it's got very high DPA for it's low recharge.

I put that at 164 DPS. It may go a wee bit higher on the second "Repeat" because of a little bit of BF overlap. It's not much higher though. That is without criticals. With them, you're talking 172 DPS vs minions, and 180 DPS vs Lts+.

Btw, I assumed 95% from damage enhancements.

I can send you the spreadsheet I used, but I'm not super duper at this. Someone who's great at attack chains and comes along might be able to show you a more concise chart.
I did not put those attacks in because typhoon I new was a bad st attack chain power and 1k cuts I assume would be bad I may have to see if I can up my recharge a little bit more thanks for the help
  24. I know the top chain is the BF >Ablating >sweeping strike which has a pause I am just not going to get to that level of recharge with the planned build.

I also now the Attack Vitals Combo is high but I am not taking Vengeful slice (I dislike the attack) and I am going for the Sweep Combo for the aoe aspects of the combo for the build and I just have fun using that combo.

My current recharges (including Global on the planned build) I can squeeze a little more recharge if need be

    Power Slice 108.8%
    Ablating 157%
    BF 146%
    Sweeping 157%

So what would be my best ST attack chain and the dps
