  2. Your right. On an range AT like a Controller, or if your hover blasting, 4 pts of KB protection will do you fine. On a /fire Blaster where most of your time is spent in melee, you will get knocked back with only 4 pts.

    Your right about RoF fleeing mobs, which is why I have Web Envelope to immobilize the mob.

    S/L/E makes up for the overwhelming majority of the attacks. My range def is already at 33%, so when I come across non S/L/E damage, I can merely pop a purple and be on my way.
  3. This is the build I use. It's softcapped to S/L/E, with less endurance usage than yours. I picked Rain of Fire instead of Fire Breath though, and I grabbed the pet power from Mace Mastery. No Acrobatics either, Mag 8 KB protection through IO's.

  5. So, I decided to do a little bit of experimenting with Mids. First, I decided to build an Energy/Energy/Force Blaster, softcapped to Range, attacks fully slotted, etc. Second, I built a Force Field/Energy/Power Defender, softcapped to Range, attacks fully slotted, etc. I chose this set since I felt it was the most similar to the Energy/Energy/Force Blaster. Most of the powers are very similar in the builds, including pool powers. Also, Force Field not only thematically fits similar, but offers nothing to boost DMG that could obscure my results. Energy Blast, I think most people would agree is a middle of the road damage set.

    There is a noticeable difference between the range attacks. The one thing that really surprised me was how low the Blasters AoE damage was compared to what the Defender could dish out.

    The Blaster has 2 extra melee attacks, Power Boost, and Boost Range. The Defender is provided built-in Defense, Status Protection, team support powers. Other than these differences, the two build share the same powers.

    For me, the question I ask myself is whether the extra damage the Blaster build does in comparison to the Defenders build justify the lack of tools that the Defender has access to? That the Blasters build is provided instead? Honestly, I would say no.

    Remove Force Fields and replace it with something like Radiation Emission, and the damage output for the Defender would only increase, getting closer to the Blasters output, while simultaneously being provided with much better tools.
  6. You didn't mention a budget, so I made the build how I would do it if it were me. Your softcapped to S/L/E/N/F/C. After IO bonuses and accolades, your walking around with 2677 HP. Excellent regen and recovery. Muscular Alpha and Reactive Interface to boost your damage, and Rebirth Partial Radial for a 2nd heal that also boosts your regeneration. Tanker ATO proc is also slotted to boost your resistance.

  7. The Blaster secondaries are their weakness, lacking them the tools they truly need. My idea was instead of changing existing powers within their secondary, adding multiple power options per Tier. Include tools that Blasters didn't have before, and at the same time not violate the "Cottage Rule". Players with the original powers who were happy with them before could still keep those powers.

  9. My Invulnerability Tank sits at 46% Def to everything and has never had problems with Incarnate stuff besides the AV's with their auto-kill powers. From my experience having a fully incarnate WP Brute and Scrapper also both softcapped, WP has it's moments where you seem invincible at one moment, then your face-planting like a Blaster the next.

Your softcapped to S/L/E/N, 2565 HP with accolades, Ragnarok set slotted into Dark Obliteration, and a couple of your powers have Purple ATO's slotted in including the ATO proc, 6 slotting those attacks as well as taking advantage of the HP bonuses they have to offer. Your sitting at 600% regen with 1 foe in range.

    I grabbed a handful of powers from Martial Arts, Ninjitsu, and Scrapper/Stalker Epic Powers and came up with the following. Kuji-In Retsu was altered a little bit by removing the +Def and Res Def DeBuff. My thinking is that without those, the end/recovery crash would also be removed, and the recharge time of the power would also be increased, effectively making the power more useful for the Blaster.

    I kind of used Energy Manipulation as a guide. It also has a melee knockback, a melee disorient, and a hard hitting single target power.



    Ninjitsu Manipulation:

    1) Crane Kick - Melee, High DMG(Smash), Knockback
    2) Cobra Strike - Melee, Medium DMG(Smash), Foe Disorient
    3) Caltrops - Ranged (Location AoE, Minor DoT(Lethal), Foe -Speed
    4) Dragon's Tail - PBAoE Melee, Moderate DMG(Smash), Foe Knockback
    5) Focus Chi - Self +DMG, +To Hit
    6) Exploding Shuriken - Ranged (Targeted AoE), Moderate DMG(Lethal)
    7) Kuji-In Retsu - Self +SPD, +Recovery
    8) Blinding Powder - Ranged(Cone), Foe -To Hit, Sleep, Confuse, -Perception

    At first glance it sounds weak. I'd like to know more specifics.

    I do agree with this. If Brutes get the same Defense/Resistance caps as Tanks, then Tanks should get the same damage cap as Brutes. The Brute doesn't start off with the same Defense/Resistance values as the Tank, but the potential to get that high is there. The same should be done for Tanker damage.

    As I was gong through this and removing duplicates somehow it went below the original 11 this was responding to. So for simplicity lets take this list and consider it the starting point after removing incorrect entries.

    Council Vampyri and Warwolves are created through scientific experimentation with genes and Nictus infusions and are defintiely not Magical. 21 groups

    Ghost of Scrapyard is the only magical thing about the Scrapyarders and a single enemy does not define a group as a whole. 20 Groups.

    Spectral Pirates don't have any different characteristics from the other ghosts in the game, other than the location they spawn and the hats they wear, I'm considering them a sub division of the ghosts group. 19 groups

    Skulls and Hellions were categorized separate from Magic in the list originally posted by Memphis Bill, these can go either way.

    W.I.S.D.O.M. has 2 other characters in it though they haven't appeared in game yet. While I can't discount the natures of Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit I don't think there is enough here to put WISDOM one side or the other. 18 Groups.

    Snakes were discounted as a magical group in Memphis Bills post and I have to agree with his reasoning. 17 groups

    Praetorians as a group have too many subfactions to count either way. If we wanted to we could break it down into the individual groups but I think that would actually lower the overall percentage of magical enemies when the non magic ones also get added in.(IDF, Warworks, Seers,PPD etc.)

    So 16 groups with a few groups being mixed.

    Not the alarming amount people make it out to be, considering the 50 or so groups covered in this thread.

    16 out of 50+ is not a large amount, though this thread and the post I'm responding to show a bit of a perception flaw or general misinformation on the part of the OP.
