  1. I really need to Powerlevel Ghost from 25 to 30ish... it was my original intention but I can never seem to find a good team outside of Militia Night where a frail old blaster like him is safe and welcome.

Anyone fancy helping me out? Maybe make a habit of teaming up outside of Thursday Nights? I know it's about a 50/50 split between people who can play outside Thursdays and those who can't, so that gives pretty good odds... Weren't we originally intended to be the "Mission Based" RPSG of choice?

Rumour always had it that Statesman's favourite character was Submariner (though why that should be I have not the faintest idea).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I heard of that as well, which explains why I find Statesman (the character) such an atrocious pompous [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Down with Statesman!

Preferably a forum with attached website + video/audio enabled welcome page. *hint*

Sounds nifty and difficult to pull off. If you have any ideas how to achieve such a thing maybe we should consider it?
  4. A break up in the earths atmosphere sounds about right...

Put it this way... if we're talking about sub-light or faster than light travel the ship's inhabitants will have to have been cryogenically frozen for a considerable amount of time, depending on exactly how fast you make the ship (and how much you bend the boundaries of physics).

Either way, I'd figure also that the design of the ship would be much more designed for an extended stay in deep space, not exactly designed for re-entry into orbit.

So what we have is a collection of eager-to-land, groggy aliens who have a ship that's possibly anywhere between 10 to 10,000 years old by now that isn't hasn't been designed to take the strain of re-entry and landing. They could've also sustained damage from the astronomical blast-wave they must have ridden from the death of their sun.

The ship breaking up in re-entry is the best explanation that I would choose if I wanted to explain this.

More questions that this raises though is:

Did the ship make faster than light travel?
Was making it to earth planned from the start or a plot alteration once it was detected as habitable?
How far away is this Sun that exploded?
  5. If that's the case, I'll drop my character into that group as an ancillary survivor from a seperate escape pod, if you'd all allow me.

She's the ruler of her planet, so it'd make sense for her to have her own ship or escape pod to ensure her survival. She's also fairly self-centered, so if you guys want a bad-guy I play those pretty well too. :P
  6. You could maybe have it on the coast of Port Oakes, near Fort Hades, quite nice there, would make for a good final resting place. It's not a Graveyard so it depends if it's a burial or an actual graveyard visit you want, otherwise, I don't think there is a Graveyard in the areas you're looking at really.

Kinda stupid, considering how cut-throat life is supposed to be in the Rogue Isles'.
  7. Is position 8 still open?

If so Grand Imperator Rhi'Vu Xomuuxhout of the planet Nu-Rex Octavus has just lost his planet in a terrible, terrible misfortune...

(Finally a chance to use SeventhSanctum.com's superb Character Name Generators )
  8. Just like to say, great work on this, it's really a great resource for the community. Congratulations to everyone involved with setting it up, and Kudos to anyone who's written a page on it so far, they're all looking great and it's a marvellous read to kill a few hours.

On that note, I've been adding minor articles of my own, but I just wrote one in particular that I thought should be noted on this thread.

    Major Addition 03/09/07
    <ul type="square">[*] [u]Pocket D[u]

I've added an entry for Pocket D here: http://union.virtueverse.com/index.php/Pocket_D just to get the ball rolling.

As Pocket D is an important venue for a large majority of Union Roleplayers, I felt it was necessary. If anyone would like to clean up, edit or improve my entry do feel free to do so by all means! I mostly reworded the entry from ParagonWiki.com and adde a little of my own knowledge, so it may not be inclusive enough for everybody. So as I'm not the most common regular of Pocket D, I'd like to welcome anyone to enhance or improve on it and fill in any gaps I may have missed.[/list]Small Additions
    <ul type="square">[*][u]A.I. Character Category[u]

Also added the "Artificial Intelligence" category for Robotic Characters and Computer NPC's that don't strictly fall into the category of a simple "Machine" or a Half-Man-Half-Machine "Cyborg". An example would be an entity like Hal 9000 from "2001 a Space Odyssey" or Reed Richard's computer "H.E.R.B.I.E." from the Fantastic Four.
    [*][u]Detective Character Category[u]

Added the "Detective" category for all those budding Maverick P.I.'s out there.

Cos the first one was too stupid/clever.
  10. A heart warming conversation I just overheard between two Freaks that put a smile on my face;

Freak Chopper: Man, with all these jerks, how are we gonna start that riot now?
Mad Freak Gunner: It's all good, man.
Mad Freak Gunner: We can have a riot anywhere we want.
    Freak Chopper: Really?
    Mad Freak Gunner: Yeah, really.
Mad Freak Gunner: That's the truth about the Freakshow. The riot is right here inside all of us.
    Freak Chopper: Oh, wow.
    Freak Chopper: That's so Profound.
Mad Freak Gunner: It's a little something I do.
  11. Either way, I'd be interested watching this one...

Could set it up like a TV show, have seperate Episodes within Semesters/Seasons. 3 Seasons per year with a seperate global storyline that develops and concludes in each. The gap in between being the perfect time to introduce new students and teachers.

I dunno... I've always wanted to mimic TV with RP... *Shrug*
  12. I dunno, Hatesman might be too tempted to Fire-Bomb the place.

No! Of course not. But someone might. How do you deal with that?

    *Starts Mixing Molotov Cocktails*
  13. A direct answer to the thread title without even reading anything else:

    Yes, yes you did.

However, all is not lost. The sooner you move to Union the sooner the fun can begin. You're more than welcome to join any of my escapades as I can directly sympathise with this problem... spent a good stretch of my time in Defiant before finding out Union was the RP Server.

It only takes roughly a week to reach level 16 if you play properly, by that level, you're set to do anything.

    [ QUOTE ]
I too started on Defiant, and still have a lvl 34 (Tower of Power) there.

True, I didn't get in to RP before finding it on Union with an other alt (now my main).
Tower of Power is now lvl 35 on Union.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Same, almost exactly. Psyborg Zero, level 35 Scrapper... still on Defiant though.

We (select members of the community) have tried to spark up Defiant RP in the past, but there's no point, the vast majority of RPers are on Union. It's just easier. Now my Villain is almost the same level as when he was on Defiant, he's actually had 3 incarnations on Union all reaching the low 20's, so in theory he'd be level 30 by now, and I really haven't been trying as hard as I could've been.

    Good luck.
  14. What about interaction with Major NPC Characters?

Statesman and Lord Recluse for example?

I ask this because Hatesman supposedly used a Doomsday Device on Statesman to extract his power and plant it in his own body. Statesman of course, broke free before even 4% of the proceedure was complete, destroying the device and rendering Hatesman unconcious. I can't help but feel guilt for God-Modding. Statesman is someone's character, but then again, he's also an NPC, for the most part. Where's the line for people and characters?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Another possible explanation is that the girl/woman can simply bind spirits or ghosts to her - there's no 'magic' involved but she has always had this ability.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I like that idea. Like Ghost Whisperer.
  16. Q. Why does one recap?
    A. I only recap to share information with my friends who don't play CoH if they're ever interested in what I do with all my time.

    Q. Why does one choose to take the time to recap?
    A. The worth of Creativity is directly proportionate to the size of the Audience maybe? We all like to think people care about our RP.

    Q. Why does some one read a recap?
    A. Me? To see if I'm in it. Very rarely does that ever happen though. My main hero and villain are somewhat sneaky fellows, so the last thing they want to do is leave a lasting impression on anyone.

    Q. Do you read recaps that have no bearing on your characters?
    A. Generally, no... It seems to be the trend here reading the replies.

    Q. Why does one choose not to recap?
    A. Bad memory, lack of time, better things to do?

    Q. Do you choose not to?
    A. Yes. It keeps the temptation of acting on information my character doesn't have to a minimum.

My problem with Recaps is that, as someone who's still fairly fresh to the Forum RP scene here on these boards, it's one helluva large chunk of writing to read, and I've been put off in the past by this because I don't have the time, despite wanting to know what's going on, to read everything. I think I might read them if they were shorter. Y'know like a recap at the start of an episode of a TV program or something. "Previously on..."

Anyway, to keep things moving forwards... More questions!

    Q. If Recaps were shorter, less detailed affairs, would more or less people read them?

    Q. Is the detail necessary?

    Q. Would you still do long recaps anyway?

    Q. Is it even possible to make Recaps shorter with all the information necessary?

Best story I heard along a similar vein was a man holding a door open for a woman to pass through. She says "You're only holding that open becasue I'm a woman"

"No ma'am," says the man, "I am holding it open because *I* am a gentleman."

    ZING!

Now, I may have no right to say this - not being [censored]but I'm not 100% with you on the idea of pretending to be something you're not in order to annoy/berate or condemn other people.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Far from it, it's really a method of Enlightenment. Enlightenment does not come from being condemned, annoyed or berated, it comes from being taught a lesson. In this case, by introducing empathy.

    [ QUOTE ]
Sadly, I'm now more worried that Pocket D is going to filled with Graham Norton or John Innman act-a-likes dressing in bondage straps and various shades of pink apparel!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh ye of little faith! I've checked and only one person has mentioned creating a Pink character, because he's a comedian. (Love you Mechano. &lt;3)

    [ QUOTE ]
To everyone considering making such a character, I ask you this question. Are you considering it because you WANT to play such a role, or because it's suddenly popular? Bandwagon jumpers rarely do a decent job, rarely stick it for long, and frequently make fools of themselves.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Damn right, because it's popular! Nothing about pushing boundaries, trying something different, adding character detail, or giving the Crimson Archer a friend. No, all humans act on shallow impulses to be popular all the time. Of course! Lets abandon our projects now, because it's far too selfish to hold any merit.

Disco Fever was created to be the ultimate paragon of Disco a few months back.

We have far too many of the same ideas, Krank, for it to be healthy for this planet. Let's team. ^_^

    So, my final thought;
Before you assume that every G*y character spawned from this thread will be a horrible affront to the Homosexual community and try to make us stop and think about the pink calamity we're about to unleash on Pocket D. Just remember, we're smarter than that. We're Role Players.

Hmm reasons for my villains to help the heroes..

    [/ QUOTE ]
I hadn't thought it through, but I think I'm gonna have to come up with a way to screw heroes over if they do team up with Hatesman, it's just his style.

    Sisarose Mansion

Vincent stumbles out onto the pavement, before a selection of confused looking Gang henchmen types in the courtyard.

Standing up, he free's himself quite effortlessly from the rope tie and then sprints off, his skin fading into transparency as his footspteps can be heard dissapearing into the afternoon. One of the enforcers hold up Vinnies Assassin's Claw and looks to the other baffled.

I'm just trying now to invent a Hero with whom I can join the LF and actually want and be able to play.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Saying that... GhostSpy would be a member of the LF if I hadn't joined him up to the Militia, as I'm sure, would The Portent from Militia. Perhaps we could moonlight in the LF? Secret card carrying members?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
You're making a second TLF? Why not co-lead the first TLF? Kinda pointless having two of the same thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I dare say you're more than welcome to become an Arch-Villain in the TLF if you have any Super-Villains. As for there being 2 groups a problem, well, one is Genuinely Heroic, trying to beat the system to free us all. What I believe in real life. The second, the TLF, is a warped version of my political views to better unite super-villains to a cause. Because after all, most super-villains live to rule the world, destroy and kill heroes.

TLF Anarchy is exactly as XV said, it's more of a policy that an infinitely angry man conceived to quickly sever the monsters head, totally annihilate it's body and then take its throne. Burn everything to the ground, restart society with the "enlightened", if anyone gets in the way, ANYONE. There's not enough time to deal with it, so they just have to be dealt with on the spot.

I'm just trying now to invent a Hero with whom I can join the LF and actually want and be able to play.

I'm really liking your website by the way, A-bom, it makes me weep when I see my own. terraliberationfront.webeden.co.uk (Not finished, too much to do... as usual.... &gt;_&gt
  23. I have two questions that no one's posed or answered in this thread yet;
"What exactly is it that makes those few people dislike this theme? What would you prefer?" Your answers below.

    [ QUOTE ]
The one thing I don't fully agree with is PD becoming a safe haven, especially not for RP. Maybe after the initial world event, but during it you'll have everyone trying to avoid the chaos flooding there, and I'm sure many of you can already the annoyance any 'tools' might cause with so much RP to disrupt.

SG bases are, in my opinion at least, far more likely to be used for general RP concerning the invasion. Think about it, where makes more sense to relax and prepare for the next wave of enemies, a night club or your teams fully equipped and stocked base, with it's high grade defences, supplies and other things that'll prove useful ion a war.

I can't really see a pint and a pack of pock scratchings saving the world, but that big ol' laser cannon tucked under your bunk at the base might.....

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I agree!
Trying to keep in touch via a resistance is far more appealing to me than slouching over in a bar and complaining about aliens. It should be a good staging point to increase Hero relations and alliances, where no IC reason has existed before, everyone will be standing side-by-side as allies against the enemy. But, then once the connections are made, I'd like to play out hiding in a bunker only to jump out and ambush some rikti then retreat again, talking over Coaltion channels to those cut off around the city.

    [ QUOTE ]
He'll probably get the TLF to try and take down a flagship, or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Say no more, I have some very interesting ideas for making a story arc out of this.

P.S. Has anyone noticed this is exactly like what happened to Rubi-ka in the last Anarchy Online expansion pack? Lolz.
