  1. I just want the trams to start working right again.

Posi. New content is great, but what long term players really want is for things like this to be fixed. It worked forever, then it broke, and has seemingly been ignore ever sense. I'd be happy if you announced that Issue 9 was entitled "Bug Hunt" and contained zero new content, but was instead a thorough cleansing of as many bugs as possible.

No new bugs til we fix the existing ones. Sound like a plan?
  2. *takes off his cape*

It's a sad, sad day for Paragon City

You will be missed CuppaJo. You are what kept me here when many other things inspired me to leave. Succeed or fail, I always felt you were fighting for us.

On the bright side, I have been waiting for Tabula Rasa for a long time, and its nice to know you are going to be there. Does this mean there will be forums there soon? Or am I missing them somewhere?

*Hopes NCSoft starts offering package deals soon*
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Just because I don't use the word "nerf" does not mean things will never be adjusted in a downward direction.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just because Burn was broken before does not mean that is fixed now. Its still broken, but most on the dev team seem to care quite a bit less when its broken in this direction. *shrug*

Similarly 'working as intended' should not be equated as 'working as it should'

Sometimes there are reasons why players aren't taking powers beyond the fact that we are all powergaming idiots that don't know when we aren't having fun.
  4. [ QUOTE ]

Nor do they change the rating of the game by allowing players to kill helpless civilians.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ROFL !!!

QFT - that is just an example of a group that might be in a Mayhem Mish.

Anyway, most of the mayhem missions will be in Oranbega...

    *ducks*

JUST KIDDING! please don't hurt me...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just for that you're getting switched to decaf

(Just kidding, even I am not brave enough to do that )
  6. [ QUOTE ]
First, Mayhem missions aren't generally at the Portal Corp.

Second, Longbow is one of the groups you might be fighting. There are others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Third. Still sick of seeing Longbow and CoT...

    Just saying...

Would like to see Malta operating in CoV, more from the Wyvern, etc. Especially want more good guys to fight. Even the latest info on I7 today makes me feel like I am a hero, or at best a rival gang in a turf war. Mayhem Missions do sound like a step in the right direction, but don't forget from an overall motivation and storyarc perspective we'd like to be VILLAINS not just playing king of the hill.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Yes, it has been considered. It's one of the main problems, in fact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am still holding out hope the invention system goes beyond combat oriented gameplay

For example, 'inventing' base defense/power/control items is cool, but I would also like to see the ability to invent other purely decorative items. Or elevators (Which could lead to decorative only base floors, locked down during raids so as not to unbalance base raids)

Or, assuming we can invent temp powers, such as a jet pack (and if not, I really must be misunderstanding the invention system) I would like to also see the ability to 'invent' badges that would unlock certain costume options, or even a new costume slot.

Also, taking temp powers in a new direction would also be good from an inventing standpoint. Inventing a temp power that would help you track mission objectives, or inventing a portable recall and rez beacon that would rez you at 1/4 health just inside the mission door... Things like that which are at least a little bit outside the current click and shoot design.

And while we are at it, are we getting apartments in I7? How about that extra digit for influence transfer? Character server transfer? Pie?
  8. We got our Ghost Widow Clix for both our accounts the first week of January or so, by the way. We sent in our info soon after CuppaJo was posting the link in her sig

Somebody re-host the Smack photo. Image Shack ate it for bandwirdth
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Manticore funded Wyvern to do the jobs Longbow couldn't for one reason or another.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wyvern is my favorite opposition in CoV. I was hoping they would have been more prominent in the 30s. Any chance we'll see more of them in the 40+ game?

    Accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
There is no "Accuracy Wrap Around" -- otherwise Blasters with Targetting Drone + Aim + Build Up would never, ever hit, which is not the case.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    My first 50 was a /dev blaster...

Prior to ED (Well prior to I4 actually) I respec'd from six to hit buffs in Targeting Drone to four because I hit less with 6. I only used Aim against AVs because against anything else it would cause me to miss more often. I would continually delete acc inspirations because they did more harm than good.

Sure, its anecdotal evidence, but consitent throughout my days as an elec/dev to 50. And I don't have the same tools to work with as you guys do or I would test your way
  12. Marcone Consigliere are all over NE St Martial. Hunted there for hours and hours. Defeated 250+ and no badge. I didn't want to go hunt Capos in PO because I didnt want to be taking someone else's xp when I wouldn't be gaining any, but the St Martial Marcone Consiglieres are not giving the badge as far as I can tell, and there are no Capos in St M.
  13. Great work as always Tomax!

I like to run it blind the first time through, but I love to be able to come back to your site after and see what I missed for next time
  14. Just a heads up for those who haven't done the arc yet. Slight spoiler ahead so don't read if such things bug you.

The Johnny Sonata arc ends with an AV that you must defeat, and the mission text doesn't alert you to the fact that you will need assistance. The AV is Johnny Sonata's Soul, so when he tells you to go retrieve it, just be prepared that you will need help for this mission.
  15. Confirming Arachnobot as coming from the mission - "Take out Negotiator and Witnesses" from Operative Kirkland (lvls 25-30, Sharkhead). You get the Agent of Discord badge, which gives you the Arachnobot Gladiator.

Just got this one. To think how many hours I spent in beta bashing Arachnobots at the PTS *sigh*
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I hope that helps you all understand why 'Stealth Nerfs' happen. To the best of my knowledge, we have never intentionally not given Patch Notes on a change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem is that this is happening more and more with each release, despite repeated assurances that the problem was going to get better. And coupled with the fact that most of the 'stealth changes' are nerfs, it can make you wonder if their is intent to leave them out. I don't personally believe it, but I do think that LOTS more attention needs to be given to the patch notes.

    For example:

    [ QUOTE ]

We've reduced base To Hit from 75% to 50% for PvP purposes. This change was made to give Defense sets more effectiveness. With the ED changes, coupled with the prevalence of +To Hit buffs it was necessary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a pretty darn big change. I'm not saying I disagree with it, but its hard from a consumer standpoint to understand how something this major misses the patch notes. Patch notes need to be confirmed and released by someone who has the big picture. There's nothing more frustrating than finding a problem and trying to guess if its a bug or an intended change.

Unfortunately, communication since about I3 has been relatively poor overall. Especially sad considering how great it was last summer (2004). Don't get me wrong, it seems par for the course for MMOs to be that way, and Cryptic is still better than most (mostly due to herculean effort on CuppaJo's part), but I long for the days when it was my top praise for the game.

And, just not to be all negative, I think AT reps such as Castle here have helped move us back toward that direction, but its a long road to build back trust and confidence, and continual problems with patch notes are one of the big obstacles that need to be overcome.

    Salvage Limit

    [ QUOTE ]
For those players who have reached the Salvage Limit with one or more pieces:

Is your SG capable of making a Worktable so you can consume some of that Salvage into the raw material? (Raw material has a limit of 99 currently).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Not even close

    [ QUOTE ]
I can't think of a reason why the devs would want to "avoid" having level 50's generate extra prestige. It sounds like a perfect reward for maxing out your character, to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why would you want anything other than level 50's in your SG then?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, maybe. But why would you want to keep your level 50s in an SG now?

With very little to do at that level, and absolutely no progression for the character, the 50s tend to stay idle way more than my other characters. Playing another character lets me progress with that character while helping the SG. Playing the level 50 only lets me help the SG.

That said, I can understand a 1:1 ratio of xp to prestige would be way unbalancing. But what about something along the lines of 'At level 50 without any debt you generate double prestige while in SG mode.' This would give some purpose for choosing to bring my level 50 to a mission rather than my level 35.
  19. Could not decide so I built 4, 2 on Virtue, 2 on Liberty

    SS/Inv
    DM/FA
    FM/DA
    SS/Eng

    Probably played in that order
  20. Archery's greatest problem is animation and recharge times. At the very least it needs a 'rapid shot' which would be about double the speed of snap shot, even if it is half the damage. I have waited since the first hints of CoH to play an archer. And here we are, a month after it was finally released, and I fill less than thrilled with playing the character. It doesnt help that I had to be a defender to pick both sets.

    /screenshot_title "Dancing Like a Monkey"
will set the title tag to what was given

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since I am lazy might I suggest

    /bind p "beginchat /screenshot_title "

    or

    /macro ssTag "beginchat /screenshot_title "

then just hit the bind or macro and type the title you want in the tag info. Don't forget to put the title in quotes if its more than one word.

Replace the p with the key you would prefer to bind or the ssTag with the macro name you prefer.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I think there still should be some use of influence in there. Say, prestige for the base rent and very powerful hardware, influence for eye candy and maybe minor hardware.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been thinking about this all night. This is a close solution, but...

What if we tweak it a little?

What if the initial base construction costs influence, but the 'rent' on a base costs prestige? Then it starts to make some sense at least, as players must continue to gain prestige to keep the base.

Or even have the initial cost be payable via either influence or prestige.

In any case, SG mode must get a revamp BEFORE prestige goes into effect. Stop using chest detail for the SG symbol. Create a new SG mode accessible 'SG symbol and have a player selectable location of at least chest, breast pocket, belt buckle, and cape. Even better, delete SG mode and add 'SG costume slot' for more flexible and more varied SG outfits, but still with the independently locatable SG symbol.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Statesman and the rest of the Freedom Phalanx. Under these rules, the Pillar of Paragon City and friends get jack, zero, and zippo Prestige. How'd they build that swank base?

    [/ QUOTE ]
    QFT !

    [ QUOTE ]
You can use the colors you have now in SG-Mode. The only thing that's mandatory in SG mode is the chest symbol. You can enter SG mode and have it just change that symbol and not touch your colors at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And if we could choose WHERE the symbol went, instead of requiring us to remove other chest detail options that are critical to the look of the character, we might have a semi workable system.

    [ QUOTE ]
As for SG costumes: it seems that most SGs in Marvel use SG colors. DC tends not to. Just because you are in SG mode doesn't mean you all have to wear the same colors and costumes. My SG functions a lot like the X-Men or Gen13 where everyone has a different looking costume with the same theme (black/white and the crash dummy symbol).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, the X-men don't all wear the symbol in the same place, neither does the Fantastic Four. Neither Beast nor Professor Xavier wear the symbol or the colors but they still add to the teams prestige. The Avengers don't have a team costume. Alpha Flight didn't have one. Squadron Supreme din't have one...

    Ok, gotta run
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Just because you're in SG mode doesn't mean you automatically get Prestige. You still have to do things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please consider posting some concrete information. This is a subject dear to most (if not all) SGs.

Anyway, a question. We have several 'sister' SGs where we put alts and the like. Often, members will switch between SGs as the character they play more often changes. How does this 'in and out' of an SG effect Prestige? Is it reset when you quit the SG? If so, this also impacts SGs with a rotating leadership, as former Leaders cannot be demoted and must quit and rejoin.

    Example:
Grey joins SG-1 right at launch. Six months into the game Grey finds that he is spending more time playing Violet. Player moves Grey to SG-1a (an alt SG) and Violet to SG-1. Another six months and Violet is level 50. Violet retires to SG-1a and Player returns Grey to SG-1. What gets Datamined here?
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Even if you have a special SG costume, you can still enter SG mode while it is on, no?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they had a 'null' option for the Chest detail, then it would make sense. If they had told us about this in the beginning, it would also make sense. If we could have all of our alts in the same SG and didn't have to make several alternate SGs to accomodate everyone...

    You get the idea.
