    E-mail limits?

It would also be good to set your e-mail options to receive only from friends, that way you won't have spam clogging up your inbox.

He was a tad snarky in his response to you, but it was warranted. You were getting annoyed about him making sweeping generalizations when he wasn't. He said he would have to look into it a lot further... here's his first post on that bit. "I'd have to look at specific builds and slotting to see what's going on there, but that's a project I don't have time for now." He wasn't saying that he would make a change to powers, just that he would have to look and see if there were outliers if he had time.

Then you posted what you did, and he replied snarkily because he already covered your concern. People do not like being misconstrued, even if it's almost to be expected on an internet forum.

For those all worried about a change to Shield Charge, here's a reminder of what he said:

"FWIW, nothing is going to be done about this for now. It's too big and widespread of an issue for me to unilaterally decide on how to approach it. I'll give folks a heads up on what is decided as soon as I know."

Castle isn't making wild presumptions, and he's going to look into things thoroughly. So no more overreacting.

Stick to buffing or nerfing the new powersets, early on, that seem to be way imbalanced, and buff older powersets that are clearly underperforming, and you will keep everyone happy. Or keep dropping massive nerfs on things that have been out for years and piss off a dwindling customer base, which imo, would seem to be a very bad idea.
If it makes you feel better, the poster you were responding to had it wrong. Castle said he would maybe look at Fiery Aura when he had the chance, not Fiery Melee. Which makes sense... Aura needs tweaking, Melee is just dandy.

I would also say you need to be a tad more realistic with your expectations, too. I would like for changes to get routed in more quickly, but an MMO is dynamic. Nerfs and buffs are going to come and go, no matter how long something has been in a game... especially when much of the dev team is tied up with developing a new endgame system and expansion. Even if there wasn't all that going on, changes are still going to happen.

Agreed, Munki. People need to hear the worst, though.

    Merging servers.

Same exact content on all the servers is kinda dumb. This being a game designed around comic books, you would think they would have been able to partner up with the comic book company's. That way they could have a server styled after say the Marvel universe, DC Universe and maybe another that's a mixed one like the Amalgam comic books.

A real good idea would be to design a server that's international. Meaning both NA and Euro players are able to play on it. Have us do missions in game to unlock each side's opposite side maybe.

Something that would resemble how Batman flew to Hong Kong (think it was that) to get the bad guy in the last movie.

Have villains go to a Europe inspired city to rob a bank and then when they get there they get the locals to help them. When missions complete you have full range of European or North American content. And new friends from across the pond.
Just to point this out... you're basically asking for different games with different content, assuming you can get all the copyright deals going with the different comic book universes (and DC's working on their own game... why would they want to play nice with ours?). You are NOT really discussing servers, which is an entirely different issue than you are talking about.

It's also worth noting that having an MMO delivered via shards like Star Trek online or Champions Online does have its own issues. It's not all fine and dandy since players are all technically on the same server.

If anything, CoX's problems are unique, as it encourages more altitis than WoW or STO, but does have separate servers.

My closest guess for a solution is that the devs are going to let us team cross-servers. War Witch suggested they had something in the works to deal with the server issue, and that was my best guess from her hinting, heh.
  5. I only made it through the first part with Des and a few others last night, but that was actually pretty cool. I liked the look of the revamped maps (much more atmospheric), and thought the storyline worked better, too. It is a little weird that you hear about a plot on the dam but have to continue that storyline in a different TF (since the storylines are usually self-contained), but it was still fun.

The mission with Rollister is still the worst, at least it was for us. We did okay rescuing the other heroes, but the ambushes we had at City Hall wiped us out (except for me, who ran away when everyone else died... *ahem* who made a strategic withdrawal and slowly dropped the mobs chasing while the other revived!). We then had issues, since the ambushes seemed to have gone back in to City Hall and couldn't get in. We unlocked things by clearing the mobs near the front of the Hall and went inside, keen to continue. ...where we were swarmed by three Ruin Mages and a bunch of ghosts. Joy. Took us a few attempts, but we managed to get those okay, and our doubles weren't too much of an issue.

I'm not very happy that just five heroes managed to get three ruin mages in one mob (and waiting for us just inside the door of city hall, no less), as that seems to be a bad design... but maybe we just had bad luck? We were also at +1, so that might have had something to do with it. Still, it reminded me far too much of how the Posi TF ran back in the day.

Overall, it was fun, except for that last mission.
  6. Patch notes are up on the main page now, and I think that means things are back and up, but you'd have to go in game to be sure.
  7. Fusion 7, yes, you can just drag and drop the item you want to send into that attachment box. I have sent a recipe and 3-5 enhancements to myself that way.
  8. I have an Invuln/Mace that I love, but I would agree with other posters in saying that you should go with what you want... concept trumps all, in my opinion.
  9. I don't know about being unofficial, but there are a fair amount of people on during the day in the U.S. (which is closer to afternoon and evening over there), so I think you'd be doing okay. I know of at least a few EU players on Victory, too, so it might work pretty well.

The only option I have turned on right now is water bumping water up a notch, which really looks nice in the Rogue Isles with all the water they have.

(Which reminds me, I need a new graphics card. I've been using a gforce 7800 backup for months and it's finally starting to croak, too.)
Yeah, I noticed a significant uptick in framerates when I turned the occlusion down. I can play with it more, obviously, but anyone know if it makes a big difference to turn it off entirely? I may leave it where it's at now and see if they improve some things with updates, but I am curious.

Anyway... e-mailed a bunch of IOs to my lowbie. Logged her in, collected them. Went back to my level 50, turned in tickets to get the salvage I needed to craft some other IOs, and I sent off 6 luck charms, 6 ancient artifacts, and 6 rune armors... and I realized after I started that I wasn't seeing the e-mails pop up immediately, but I continued anyway. "They'l show up eventually, they won't get lost," I told myself.

Well, they DID get lost. The chat server was down. When it came back up, I had mail... but it was the IOs I'd sent previously, so I got duplicates of those. (Which unfortunately were level 25 accuracy and damage IOs and 1 level 20 recharge IO, why couldn't it have been a few Luck of the Gambler recharges? ). The salvage all disappeared. I didn't report it because it was kind of a wash anyway, not a huge loss and I got something else twice.

I also saw someone report that they accidentally hit "spam" when trying to claim the stuff they'd sent themselves, and it all vanished. When you open up e-mail those buttons are often right on top of each other (for me, until I expand my mail window). Not a good design decision.

Anyway I managed to IO out one toon with generic IOs, but I wouldn't trust the mail system for other stuff right now.
Did you delete your original e-mails? There is an e-mail cap on your box now, so if you didn't do that, the subsequent e-mails may have not gotten there because of the cap.

If not, then yeah... e-mail system didn't work. I haven't had any issues with it yet myself, even though I have sent a bunch of stuff between characters.

I turned the shadows to the lowest ultramode will give. The reflections are fine and water is great. AO seems to be the biggest culprit.

I'm also getting some infrequent moments of horrendous slowdown. They clear up in a few seconds but it's pretty noticeable when it happens.

I still say this issue needed to be baked in the oven for a couple more weeks.

I'm now a bit reluctant to find out what kind of performance I will get in Preatoria.
I'd say they probably broke out Ultra Mode out now to get any issues out of the way before GR and Praetoria hit, so that release will be more smooth. So hopefully things will be smoothed over a bit in the upcoming month or so.
  13. Hmmmm, sounds like I might have time to run this Tuesday night with Grey Pilgrim. I was wanting to tonight but got on too late.

What are the changing objectives you all mentioned? Curious as to what those are.
  14. Yeah, a tech problem shouldn't make you annoyed with the game, just figure out what's up with your system and fix it. Tech problems are great for that.
  15. Castle actually had to clarify that there are no current plans to add enhancements to powers because of people overspeculating. Too funny.

Noob! Did you run into trouble with his draining power? I couldn't tell if it had a range or LoS requirement, so I just settled for LoS, and that worked well. His EM attacks are pretty hard hitting, though.

You can always wait a little bit. I never mind parking an alt for a little bit to get some better enhancements. There's usually another alt that is ready to go, and the other can work on their day jobs for a bit.

Why? Its damage is on par with other similar blasts: the only thing "worse" about it is that its animation is a bit longer than most of those same blasts (though it's the same as Shout's animation from Sonic). At most, it needs a half second trim or so, but there was some discussion about how that animation would look if it was shortened (aesthetically).

It's still a power worth taking... I'm not sure why people hate it so much.
  19. Yeah, seems to me that they will probably change up what you can choose. If anything, they could probably just take the existing ancillaries for heroside tanks and make them the patron option redside. Probably the simplest solution, rather than trying to balance an all new combination.

I really don't see Brutes getting Tank ancillaries and vice versa, to be honest. Of course, I have been wrong before, heh.
  20. Not much we can do for you here. You could go to the tech part of the forums, as the more tech oriented players visit there more often and might be able to help you out. You'll have to give a more detailed description of what you were doing and what your system is.

I would also say you should send a bug report so that the tech support people for the game can help you out. Posting in Player Questions is probably not the best solution for this problem.
  21. His response was a tad snarky, but I thought he was referring to the official messages stating that players should not lose their items/ the devs don't want players to lose them. From Avatea's post: "We apologize for this inconvenience and want to emphasize that this unavailability is to allow us to get this problem fixed but also for our players not to lose items in the meantime and cause further inconvenience."

But who knows how it will come out in the end.

Are those posted officially somewhere? If not, they need to be. I PM'd Ocho about that lack (as with the merits for explore accolades). Not sure if that's how Synapse found this or not, but I do hope that this gets posted officially somewhere. The devs have said they don't want to sneak things in and want to be told when they don't have stuff in the notes, so I'm doing my part!

How so? It was merited by how the power was set up and it makes sense for why they did it. There aren't a whole lot of situations where they would want this setup, really. It'd be nice if the real numbers system could reflect it better (since the animation isn't really 0 seconds), but that's the only real problem with it.

I don't really understand why people don't want the great buffs that Mystic Fortune gives, but it does seem odd that they would remove the option to not take it. It's good to have that option for those that want it (or if they have The Fool cast on them and they want it to expire, not be renewed).
  24. Blech, how can you stand to have so many windows up? Too cluttered!

Anyway, I still like being in an SG with other people. You don't need it for teaming so much, but I never really have used an SG like that, anyway. Just nice to chat with some people and have them join you from time to time.
  25. Well, that was quite fun. Pretty much had five at the start, and then a couple more joined up once we had moved on to PO (did you know Penny's demon summoning MM is called Pen Tacle? Hilarious!). Had to up the difficulty a bit because we were beating everything up so badly... I think we were dropping Warders in my Mayhem mission in about 3-4 seconds... it was kind of sad: I didn't even have time to toss out Snowstorm on bosses!

Hit level 10 after about 1:50 of playtime, which wasn't too bad, since we weren't at a full team for the entire time. Thanks all of you that joined in, it was fun!
