Supporting actor categories often confuse me. For instance, how is Jon Cryer a supporting actor on Two and a Half Men? Happens with movies, too... I remember Ethan Hawke was nominated for best supporting actor for Training Day, and he's the main character you follow in that movie. Apparently being in a show or movie with a bigger name means your are automatically supporting them.

Quote:I would agree that Blasters have more flexibility in the escapee phase. My Controller that I have run through there does great on holding the minions, but it's frustrating for him to drop lieutenants, at least at times. My Fire/Fire Tank does great on the path or at the doors, of course, but the lag does make tracking down targets on the run more annoying. My Peacebringer should have similar flexibility, but that's hampered a bit by shapeshifting taking far too long when it's laggy.Above all else my blaster has far more flexibility than any melee character I could bring to that situation. I can shoot AoEs at a door constantly and still react to runners passing behind me if a leak develops. I can shift to being a floater far more easily and help different groups that might be having problems. I can cover far more area, and I can shoot at a larger number of targets overall, and I have plenty enough damage to kill them when I do before they pass me by. Nothing in my experience suggests anything other than in terms of shooting runners where ever they pop out from or where ever they are going, Blasters as a group will have the best overall performance.
It is a pocket case, but it is one that is applicable to other situations.
I'm not even sure why popularity is being discussed. Every AT can't be at the top of the heap, and as long as people enjoy playing each one, things are okay. Yes, you can argue about performance numbers beyond that, but debating popularity means squat, especially if it's Blasters not always being at the number one spot. -
Quote:I do wish these were noted for players somehow. There are plenty of people on Victory all the time, but you have to be in the areas people frequent to see them (TF start locations, PD, markets, etc.) and most are only talking in chat. Thanks for this.
I've been an off again, on again player since launch and am coming back off of a year and a half hiatus (damn you, real life!). I resubbed over the last weekend and have been astonished at just how barren the world is, even at peak hours. I can only imagine what a genuinely new player would think if they logged in and saw no one else, saw little to no chat, and didn't know about these channels.
I knew about Victory Badges from before, but I would have never known about the rest of these channels if it weren't for this thread.
I prefer MMOs with instances to camping spawn locations like happens in other games, but it does make people feel like there are fewer about than is actually the case. -

Since it's been brought up, I would love to see an improvement made to Snipes and Nukes. They're fun powers, but just not good enough at what they do. I find it sad that I'd rather use my Judgement than my nukes on my Energy and Electric Blaster.
Doesn't have much to do with the superfluous thing, but it's a good idea that should be followed through on. -
Finally! I always wanted to get TNG on disc but whenever I checked, it was about $100 for one season, and that was not worth it to me. I caught enough reruns to really not make it worth it, either.
Now I can watch through in sequence, though. Woot! -
Quote:Christmas movie, but who cares, it's still an action movie looking to make money. I won't argue with you like some are over noses, when Holmes is more about personality than anything. To anyone dissing the movie because it's not authentic enough.... who cares? It's a friggen summer movie. Get over it. If the transformers fans can do it, I'm sure it'll be easy enough for you.
This trailer looked decent enough... though I'm not particularly fond of seeing RDJ in women's makeup for half of it. Still... the casting of Jared Harris for Moriarty was brilliant enough to make me want to watch this as soon as it's released. He's one of my favorite actors and possess the kind of intellectual look to pull off the role nicely.
These movies do have a strong stylistic approach, but other Holmes movies have in their own way as well. I found the first one fun overall, though it did get a little heavy into fights... I think the one that pushed it over the top for me and my wife is when they had a fight in a room, Holmes chases the big guy off with the electrical implement, but then the guy suddenly stops being scared and we have another hectic fight around a ship in drydock.
Still, it was fun overall, hopefully this one will do even better. -
I recall the 3B Blaster guide from back in the day, and a lot of the advice still holds true, as Arcana pointed out. As a Blaster, you need to go in guns blazing (the 3B guide called us low down "blasterds" or something, that shoot people when they're not ready and kick them when they are down). Hit before the mob knows you are there, knock out the mezzers or annoying mobs first, etc. My E^3 Blaster generally holds Sappers or mezzers when going into a mob, then drains the rest if he needs to (though usually he just beats the rest into a pulp in a few seconds). My AR Blaster drops M80 into a mob and then fires off Full Auto while the mobs are flying. Most don't get back up. Same thing for my En/En Blaster's two AOE attacks.

Man, I just hope we finally get a wizard hat. After years, the Katie Hannon TF, and the Magic Pack, we had better get one. You know what I'm talking about it, the guy in my avatar wears one. Go watch the Lord of the Rings movies if you haven't already, silly.
And hopefully it will have some hair option to go with it. It's been years, devs. Get crackin!

Well, I'll vote for Kheldian changes... even if they can't comment on them, hearing that players are interested in changes will hopefully encourage something to happen. I'm biased on the subject, but I think it would help. Peacebringers aren't in a terrible spot, but they do have enough wonky things about them that I think some adjustments are merited.
-
Good lord, is this idiocy still going? It should have ended after this.
Quote:As others have pointed out, every AT in the game is superfluous. ATs have different styles but overlap all over the place. Enjoy the ride and play what you want, most MMOs are not like this.If you're so worried about numbers you won't invite an AT, well, that's fine with me - we won't be playing together, and while you're agonizing over .000000127dps, I'll be having fun with my team made up of "Hey, bring whatever you want, just don't be a twit." -
I would think end cost of keeping the travel toggles going, plus the ranges on powers, would be more than enough for PvE... especially now that all mobs have nasty ranged attacks. You're never going to get away scot free.
I dunno, it's just so minor on my list of things that could be better about CoX that I just don't even think about it, I guess. We're pretty maneuverable without travel powers, so it just don't bug me much. -
Quote:We are? Then where are the adjustments to Mission Architect's longstanding issues (the current filter is stupid... my arc is invalidated because the made up word "Bladed" is somehow profane in its eyes)? The adjustments to bases and PvP? The graphical fix to the final room in the LGTF? The improvements to certain sets and ATs that need a little helpIf we're all about QoL updates and fixing mistakes with the upcoming Freedom plan, why not take the opportunity to return some speed to the game as well?
At any rate, I haven't really heard any of the current devs say anything about travel suppression, has anyone else? I figured they had it where they wanted it, to be honest. And I don't really see it as a huge issue, either. *shrugs* -
Why not take a break? It's not like the trials are going to disappear. I usually drop out after about 90 minutes and join some trials, so it's not like you can't do both, either.
I should be on tomorrow night... though I'm thinking now that I probably won't join a redside run again. I have some villains and that's enough for me. There's something about villainside that I just don't enjoy, at all. I'll make a couple vigilantes to round out my options for the occasional TF over there, but I generally dislike the missions and zones over there. The TFs are okay for some reason, but I find it really hard to solo or do any missions over there outside of Isos. -
I wish I knew the magic words to get dev action on longstanding issues like this. It's utterly asinine that this many arcs are rendered invalid by this thing: it's doing far more harm than good.
-
So... the main character in my story arc, Bladed Justice... is somehow profane because of the word "bladed." How is that even a word on a list somewhere? It's not technically even a word, just a slight pun I came up with for the character.
I guess my arc is broken until they fix this, because he's the main character you run through this arc with: it can't be done without him.Unless anyone has an idea for me.

Look through our first couple pages of threads... there are a ton of build advice ones. I kind of feel like telling people to do that for any new one now, as I think many of the angles people could go for are being covered.
I know there were a couple of "Human form PB builds?" threads put up right after mine was done being discussed, so it's worth looking around a bit first. Once you have a build that you want critiqued, throw it on up there in a new thread. -
Quote:I doubt they'll ever remove travel power suppression... you can already kite pretty well with inherent stamina plus combat jumping and sprint. I do it a fair amount on my Blasters and have fun with it, too. I think they were mostly okay with removing some of the pain of having travel powers going while fighting because of suppression, too."When will you be removing travel power suppression from PvE?" and anything to do with fixing Kheldians.
Kheld adjustments (mostly just want a shorter shapeshifting animation and some adjustments to PB powers that still don't work as well as they should) and more customization options are big on my list.
New question that wouldn't be answered, probably... new TFs planned for I22? Any expansion of Cimerora on the horizon? -
Quote:No guide is going to be the be-all, end-all. It's going to reflect that poster's interests and approach, though if they did a decent job, it should reflect a variety of approaches at least. I tried to do that with my Fiery Aura and Tanking guide, but it still reflects some of my own preferences. No offense, but I read your guide, and while I appreciate the time you took to make it, it certainly is not an end-all to the warshade.
There are obviously different levels of fun with the warshade, the first level being the tri-form. The next level of fun, and really feeling epic, can only be found in a human only warshade.
The varying degrees of those two levels of fun depend on your IOs and slots.
So when I say seriously IO'd, I meant it.
I don't agree with Dechs in everything he does or says, but I like that he is so enthusiastic about Warshades. That's good for all Kheldian players, even if I'm not all that excited about Warshades.
I hope you can also see that you have opinions in that post that I would take umbrage with. Besides the tone, human form isn't necessarily all that. Some prefer one way, some another. There are pros and cons to each.
For me, I added a human only build to my Peacebringer once Clarion made that more viable, and I wanted to see how I could make things work there, since his main build is tri-form. I find both to be fun (and enjoy all three forms on the main, depending on what I feel like at the time, and what my team needs).
To the OP, I doubt the devs would ever want to get rid of the shapeshifting mechanic, and I would be irate if they tried. Shapeshifting is a major part of what makes the Kheldian AT what it is. That mechanic could be tweaked to be better (it's too long to shift), but getting rid of it would be a terrible idea. Getting rid of it would make for an entirely new AT, and we have plenty of those to choose from already. You can argue for a new AT if you want, but don't do so at the expense of a current one.
Oh, and I played my Peacebringer before the I11 changes, on SOs. It is doable. I played one when they first came out and soloed on it, even though there were significant nerfs to do so at the time. -
Quote:You'd want to make that an alternate animation option, since I prefer the Peacebringer version. Warshade powers are nice to look at, but the extra... gob of something that the Warshade version has is weird to me. I like the traditional energy beam look of Peacebringers.Since we are throwing around ideas, one I would like is make peacebringers eye blasts animation more like warshades and not just two tiny beams.
And I'm all for Build up being improved for Peacebringers somehow. Duration isn't long enough, and the devs now have plenty of options they could mimic with it that would be more acceptable. Fiery Embrace seems best to me if they are keeping Cosmic Balance as is, since you can get so close to the cap currently (depending on teammates and your own powers). -
Quote:Eh, it's heavily debated and some people despise it when you do it. I teach writing and advise my students to rewrite without the need for the pronoun. That way, you sidestep the debate and no one should hold your preference against you. They as an indeterminate gender third person singular is absolutely grammatical. Prescriptionists may complain, but it's part of English, and has been for a couple centuries now.
On the forums, I refer to the poster by their forum name... tends to help you be more clear, too. Forums are big enough breeding pools for angst and misunderstanding without adding to the mix.
And sorry I misunderstood your joke earlier. -
Quote:As others have said, people have been saying this for years. People will play what they want to play, and the simple fact is that you can do well in this game with any AT and powerset combination. Some sets are good and some sets are better, and it's all about what you prefer.I think that is the main disparity being hinted at above. With the way the game is now, why build a Tanker anymore when you can have a brute? For me personally the answer is simple, on a tanker, I don't have to monitor a fury bar.
Some people love Brutes. Me, I don't. If I want a more survivable character, I go with a Tank. If I want straight up melee damage, I go with a Scrapper. I don't find Fury all that fun and prefer how the other two ATs work. I could put it elsewhere as well. Some people swear by Defenders, Corruptors, and MMs, but I just don't like them. But others do. No need to make a personal dislike an issue with the AT, though.
Quote:The main drawback of bruising is that it doesn't get any more useful with more than one tanker in the team. With teams this is borderline acceptable, but now with leagues? Should the game be designed towards encouraging only one tanker in a group of 24?
I would like to see bruising stack from multiple tankers, with diminishing returns of course.
It's not THAT big of an issue, though, since all of the trials often have separate groups and problems to work on. And when I'm on a squishy character, I prefer having a tank on the team, especially for Lambda. Brutes and Scrappers are nice, of course, but they don't really worry about aggro too much in the collection phase, which is a huge problem for all of my squishies. A lot of +3s running around like to stomp on them, no matter what I do.
That doesn't mean people play that phase stupidly and don't run in groups or pause to take out an angry boss at 10% health, but it's still preferable to have a tank to lead things off, at least. -
Cool, have fun. Never quite sure if I'd want to check these out, but since they're usually on a coast and I can't afford to fly out to them (not sure if I'd like the new invasions of privacy we have in airports now, either), it's rather moot right now.
Are further animation customizations planned? I'm mainly wondering about for weapon sets (since Axe, War Mace, and Broadsword share the same set of animations), but I'm also curious if the animation customizations we already have will be shared with appropriate sets. For instance, Fire Melee did not get the new Fire Breath animation, and sets like Peacebringers and Dwarves (Kheldian form) did not get a fist punching the ground animation, like Super Strength did for Foot Stomp.
I would also ask if any powersets are on the planning table for getting adjustments (beyond what we were told in the powerset proliferation stuff). I guess I'm most curious about Kheldians and Stalkers, since those two seem the most tweaking at this point, Peacebringers especially. People are prone to hyperbole with them, as they are pretty solid. I just think it seems clear they need some adjustments and am hopeful they are being worked on in some way soonish. -
Quote:I dunno... some of the pets seem to be fairly far away from what others can do. Are Seers punished for doing Psi damage, or something? Their support casting of a mini-fortitude is nice, but I don't think it makes up for much less damage they do than other pets, at least in the DPS lists I've seen from other players testing. I am glad to see how much variety we have (a lot of care seemed to be taken in choosing these from player feedback), I just am not sure they're quite all balanced with each other yet.Hey all,
Glad to see youre enjoying the new Lore pets! Black Scorpion and myself made an explicit effort to get the various Lore Pet sets fairly close to each other in terms of DPS there shouldnt be any one set thats bounds better than the others. Along with ensuring that the new Lore pets were all competitive with the old sets and with each other, we also determined that the IDF pets were doing significantly less DPS than intended, and the damage and recharge of their powers were adjusted accordingly in i20.5. Its great to hear that many of you are taking Arachnos, Phantoms, Spectres, and others for concept - thats what we set out to enable!
Until next time,
-Arbiter Hawk
It would be kind of cool to be able to name our pets as well, even if they are supposedly essences of the well and all. -
I kind of wonder if the axe's haft should be a little thicker, simply to give the weapon a look of more weight and "ouch" to it. Might even be heard to see a shaft that narrow in game, too, or have it look like a toothpick.
