Quote:I went Premium for a couple of days and resubscribed last Wednesday, October 5th. By everything I am seeing in this thread, I should have received my points for the October 5-November 5 period yesterday. Looking this morning, I have nothing. I'm assuming I should put in a ticket about this, but I did want to post here to show not all is well with the system still.Yes. You receive your monthly Stipend for the month of gametime you've paid for.
Remember, when you pay your monthly subscription, you're paying for the month to come, not the month that just passed.
Since you activated on 9/30 your allotment of points received at that time was for the period of 9/30 - 10/30.
When you renew your VIP subscription on 10/30 it will be for the period of time between 10/30 and 11/30.
And I do want to chime in about the vet tokens as well. These should be awarded at the start of a month (along with points), rather than after. This is confusing to know when you are receiving all your awards properly, and also, I know for a fact that NCSoft is not in the habit of giving refunds for a month paid for... given all that, it makes a lot more sense to provide it ahead of time.
Also, I have to assume there are some times where you award refunds, but you should be able to remove tokens when this happens, anyway... I'm assuming you can for Paragon Points awarded as well. -
New arc caps out at level 30, which is nicer than the first one. Contact is just north of the vault in Talos, on the street up that hill. You can see him on the map, solid green dot, Michael... something. Can't recall the name, sorry.
Nice and short arc again, with a fairly interesting story. I for some reason did not remember who Tommy Arcanus is, or how he related to Numina, so that was fun. -
Quote:I'm confused as to which patch is what went in today.Unfortunately neither of these can be found in the character creator or in the store.
No, not confused. Confused as to why they put up a new post with the correct notes, but they still have another set where they mention these costume parts.
That's twice they've done this now, and they're also fubared with awarding points, etc. Kind of annoying. The patch note thing really doesn't make sense, they really should not be making mistakes there, let alone the same one twice (and then keeping up the second mistake).
Oh well. -
Rather than APPs, Kheldians just need each of their powers to work respectably. There is a wide variance still for some of them. Group Fly is always going to be iffy, probably, but others aren't in the same boat. *coughs* Pulsar and Solar Flare *coughs*

Quote:I don't take much damage with Light Form and my shields going on my Tri-Form build, and it doesn't really have any defense boosts. On a trial next to AVs and soloing at x2-x3, I haven't really taking any big dings. If anything, I notice when I forgot to turn it back on, as I notice I'm actually taking damage (separate from the crash, like if it crashed, and I ran to the next mob without turning it back on).If you have very little in the way of set bonuses, yet have chosen to raise your difficulty to +1 x3 or higher, it is possible to get low even under Lightform.
But yes, any tough AT can hit its limit if you dial up the difficulty enough. Peacebringers and Warshades with their Tier 9s going are in the upper tier for resilience of all ATs, though.
Whether it's worth it or a good design we can quibble elsewhere, but we are pretty tough.
Quote:Too tough in comaprison to other things? Two words for that: psi hole
However PB's are improved with this but there is more to do with them.
I would agree with what Smoking Joe has said elsewhere, that Dwarf should have psi resists. Any of my tanks without Psi resists have many more tools to make up for that lack (and Dull Pain is only one such tool). -
Quote:Doesn't really matter all that much about seems, to be honest. The numbers were looked at and discussed to death when the set first came out, and they said middle of the road (with Incendiary Ammo, I believe). That means Lethal was a little lower, but even then, it's still in line with other sets. Even if a set is weaker than some others, it doesn't matter, as long as it is in line with all other sets. There's no way to make every set equally uber (and such an approach would probably be rather boring).Actually, with IOs involved, Dual Pistols (which I love) seems more lower middle than just middle.
And just as a reminder about "seems" there are times where Dual Pistols feels better or slight worse than Archery and Assault Rifle, other non-crashing nuke sets. I rather like Hail of Bullets more than the others, but they all have their own strengths and weaknesses. In other words, Dual Pistols is balanced with other sets.
For Spring Attack (you mentioned it in a later post), the animation is indeed awesome. You leap off the screen and reappear where you targeted, making a large crater in the ground. You have a 2/3 chance of knocking mobs down as well, which is quite satisfying. The power is fun for that, let alone the extra AOE damage. Just think its recharge is a bit too long for what it does. -
Quote:I don't think so. I had a StJ/EA Brute on Test that ran through First Ward and then a bunch of the EBs solo in the 40s, and he did great. And keep in mind this isn't without a whole lot of set bonuses, as it wasn't worth bothering with them. StJ is a solid set.Nice but I think this is more riding on the power of EA being strong at the moment.
Ea now is definatly sweet.
Quote:Can't say I've played street justice enough yet to make a determination about the set as a whole, but so far the cone size of sweeping blow is pretty terrible. There alsoseems to be something wrong with spinning strike. The radius and the fact that it's classed as a taoe seem wrong.
Spinning Strike is supposed to be a targeted AOE. That is WAI. It is located on the mob you target, so it hits anything around it, rather than you. It makes sense when you see the animation and the effects it is supposed to cause... also a nice difference from a more traditional PbAOE, at least in my mind. -
People are overreacting the way the overreact when a new powerset does not blow all the others out of the water, or are at least at the top tier. People whinged about Dual Pistols like it was far too weak, when it was in fact a middle of the road set.
It's the same thing here. I think some of the Tier 5s could use a little tweaking (Burnout maybe has too much of a drawback, Spring Attack's recharge is a bit high), but they are mostly fun/nice powers worth fitting in if you can. Honestly, I would have been upset if these were powers like Stamina used to be, or Tough/Weave for most melee characters. The last thing I need are more powers to choose from that I REALLY need to have.
Fun powers with some worth? Sure. -
Quote:Wow... how did you come to that conclusion? It has good range, does good damage (competitive with Blazing Arrow if you use Incendiary Ammo, which you should often as a Blaster), AND it can hit more than one target. It's easy to position yourself to hit more than one mob before a start fights, and that's while solo. I don't even have to bother on a team, since mobs will usually cluster themselves so nicely running around a Tank, Scrapper, etc. Just have a target and you'll hit a few in the group, all for much more damage than most AOE attacks have.Piercing rounds is not a snipe it takes targeted aoe IOs. It's also terrible.
I'd urge you to reconsider, as Piercing Rounds is a great power. Same can be said for the similar attack for Beam Weapons. -
I would say you want to think of Beam as more dependent on the gun than the secondary (which is true of most weapons sets, to be honest). The secondary is nicer if you can use it to buff up for a fight, or in a solid string late in the fight.
Case in point. I have a Beam/Fire that I ran through beta, and now have at 18 on Live. He uses build up before the fight when it's up, but then he sticks to using Beam through much of the fight. Any stragglers that get in close are melted quickly via Fire Sword or Fire Sword Circle. Hot Feet also slows and hurts such survivors of my Beam attacks as they are coming in. Works well.
Soul Drain is a little trickier in this scenario, but it's up for long enough that I could see using it on the last couple surviving mobs in one group, and then you have it up for most of the next. You have stuns and fears that would allow you to do this, and of course, Dark can be colored to look like Nictus powers, and would work well with a Void concept.
So, maybe not the most l33t Blaster combo, but reasonably sturdy/damagey, and you have a concept I believe you would find fun. Concept/fun trumps the most l33t numbers, in my book. -
Quote:The question isn't really whether the changes improved Peacebringers, but whether it improved them (and also Warshades) in the direction they needed to go, and enough. Peacebringers were far enough off the performance scale that they really did need a significant boost (and I would argue that what we got wasn't all what was needed). There are numerous posts on this subject, so I'll let those speak for themselves.I'm going to point out, cause I like doing it, that the character creation screen Still says we take "more damage from most attacks".
Also, to go against what some others have said, I have been playing my Lightly IOd (cheaply frankenslotted) lvl 50 PB (Inner Light and Lightform are NOT perma) and also a new PB that I have levelled to the mid 20s using nothing better than IOs and I can report that both toons are Much more powerful than before. So I wouldn't say that only permalight builds are improved significantly here. -
One thing you can say for the new Light Form and this odd heal. If you actually are below 50% health when it crashes, I would be surprised. We're rather tough with it up. We've debated elsewhere if we are too tough in comparison to other things, but I'll leave that to other threads.
The crash is definitely liveable, even midfight, and the change does help make my PB more viable. -
Quote:Well, he's clearly taking the two ATs separately. I just know he said he was iffy on allowing Incandescent Strike and G-Well to stack their mezzes with other powers in both sets. But your point is something that we have countered more than once... Pulsar needs to at least be a guaranteed Mag 3 to be even somewhat competitive with Warshades, and even then, Warhsades can stack their mezzes easily.I really hope that G-Well's inability to stack with anything else in the Warshade's arsenal wasn't something he used as a "balance" reference for PB's, since Shades can already stack 3 layers of stuns on top of the ST hold. It's just not a fair comparison in my opinion, and Glowing Touch hardly balances the scales. :/
Pulsar needs improving, and I certainly think you can make argument about how the other mezzes stack.
Quote:Another problem I've thought of to add to the list- Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but the KB in Shadow Blast needs to be removed. The description for the power says it is KD but I can confirm that it KB's enemies 2 levels higher than my Warshade, possibly more. This is a problem because the other two attacks in the Human Form ST chain (G Well and E Drain) are melee range and cannot be executed if the target is KB'd without repositioning.
I honestly do NOT get why. Human form is more melee oriented than range oriented, so having so many KB powers is just counter-productive. What you are saying is the exact same thing I have said for Solar Flare, and could even be argued some for Radiant Strike (though I'd take it for Solar Flare over RS). Such KB issues for melee classes were removed ages ago, and VEATs followed through on those changes. You don't hear Bane players complaining about all the KB in their mace powers. The KB you find in VEATs is for ranged attacks, which arguably does not reduce DPS and really is useful mitigation for a ranged AT (or the VEAT put themselves in that position via power picks that they don't necessarily need... I don't think anyone would keep the gun grenade power on a Bane build). -
Congarats. Hope your day did not have too many lame ice puns like a bad Batman script.

Quote:Ambush!I don't, but I can't speak for the rest of Isos.
As far as being a liability... Hamster leads a team... I'm not sure how you could be more of a liability than that.
Quote:Do you guys all try to get the max out of a build? If I don't do that am I going to be a liability to you guys?
And even then, we'll probably rez you and not say anything. Unless you make it a trope, a la Satanic Hamster.
I sure as heck don't care how uber your build, just that you are playing and using your powers to help get things done. You do that, so you have no worries. Play and have fun! -

Quote:I honestly don't know what the Devs want. Arbiter Hawk was leery of adjusting Solar Flare to KD and Pulsar to a guaranteed Mag 3, which is arguably a debuff capability more than a damage one. He also was iffy on letting Pulsar and Incandescent Strike stack (same for the equivalents with Warshades). This is why I'm thinking a more buff/debuff centric branch of suggestion may be better. It's not that we aren't getting any damage buffs at all, I just don't think things will be elevated to what many are suggesting. I have a feeling that straight out damage isn't what devs want for PBs. Also, I think buff/debuff would make them more favorable for teaming. I've been busy lately but I've got a few ideas for some interesting things. I'll try to type them up at some point.
I like the idea of mezzing or buffing/debuffing more too, I guess, though I do wonder how our DPS numbers still compare to VEATs. I think they're generally higher than us there as well.
I guess I'm not willing to ask for less than what other ATs seems to be getting, and I still think the evidence is strong that we are weaker in mezzing, buff/debuff, and damage departments than other people. We don't excel in any category enough to make up for our weaker areas as well. -
Quote:Yup, breaks can certainly help you appreciate the game a lot more. I know I enjoyed the game a lot more, and its many improvements during the time I was gone, after I came back.I guess you can say that I came back. Basically my girlfriend, aka snowy, bought me a PS3 for Christmas. I'm really more of a console gamer at heart, this is one of the few PC games I have ever played. At any rate the PS3 was new and shiny, and sucked me away from CoH for quite awhile. I think it was good because I was getting frustrated with the game and taking that break really put things into perspective for me. I'm coming back enjoying the game like I haven't had in years, and now just sitting back and letting other people sort out teams and raids and crap. Sometimes being "new" again is good because I do not have to worry about keeping up with the Johnsons so to speak. Looking back, I took this game way too seriously before. Now it's time to have fun.
And my motto for games is that they're games. They shouldn't be work. When I was in a BF1942 and then BF2 clan, I didn't mind "practices" for a game, because it was fun. The second it became work or not fun, I gave it up. Its' another reason I don't play WoW. -
Definitely don't go by Mid's yet with Spring Attack, as the damage numbers are off. On my Dominator, it does more damage at base than Fireball does from the APP, albeit with a much higher recharge.
Also, the animation is hilariously awesome. You spring straight up off the screen, and land in the middle of the spawn, making a crater far more impressive than that piddly thing Footstomp does. -
True that. Time seems to go slow and fast. Feels like I've been married to my wife for my whole life (which is a good thing), but then it's really only been five years. Crazy!
-
League sounds fine to me if it works well. I like that new Sewer Trial. It's focused and has a good enough story for it, and makes a nice way to race through those early levels if you choose. Those new arcs are pretty good in AP, though. They seem to have lowered the spawn rate or something on some of those hunt missions, though... they were up every 30 seconds or so in Beta, and we had nothing new in over two minutes at one point.
I had fun running through The Hollows again. It's been awhile thanks to Praetoria, and Frostfire is always nostalgic to me. I love that map.
Definitely hope we can hit Faultline next week. It's a good zone as well that I haven't hit much since Going Rogue landed.
Liking Grav/Time so far. Propel is as goofily fun as I remember it being, and Time has some neat looking effects. Still working on the look of mine to get as close to the Union Jack's red and blue as I can. -
According to a recent post by Second Measure, they want to keep new content free for VIPs at all times (so story arcs, TFs, etc.). The only thing they'll charge for is the extra window dressing thing, so some costume sets, powersets, etc. They're following that exactly with I21. Some new free powersets, others for pay, same for costumes, etc.
I do hope they plan on making new powersets have a sale when they come in. That's a good idea, even if I do think the normal, off sale price is a little high. -
That is a... thorough story to explain your story. /em impressed and amused

Quote:I'm not the one that started the thread, but that is good info. From personal experience, I love Beam/energy. Boost Range is useful with any primary. You get the build up ---> aim combo very early, so once you get lancer shot, bosses drop fast. Conserve power makes it possible to consider musculature or spiritual as an alpha, which will help with the AoE damage slightly (Spiritual obviously getting overcharge up faster, musculature boosting cutting beam). I agree with people that beam is subpar on AoE damage, however is it really such a bad thing to have an ST focused blaster? I don't think so at least
My Beamer is now lvl 49. With those new archtype specific origin sets coming out, I can see him kicking some serious butt. . hope this helped ya GP
I would have rolled Beam/Energy, but I already have two /Energy Blasters, and many other /Energy Blasters I have given up on. Done making Blasters with that Secondary at the moment. Still, it pairs well with most Blaster Primaries.
I will certainly recommend a Musculature Alpha to most Blasters. My En/En Blaster finally earned his Very Rare Musculature (45% boost to damage, 2/3 ignoring ED), and it's a huge boost. I think Total Focus and Nova are each dealing an extra 100 HP with it, and they were at +60 or so with the Rare level. And that's before factoring in other boosts. I'm sure he hits the damage cap at some points on teams, but his base level of damage is quite high at all times. I love it.
