DP Piercing Rounds...Snipe?
The -only- power that gets a damage bonus from Targeting Drone is Assault Rifle's Sniper.
That's it.
Piercing rounds is not a snipe it takes targeted aoe IOs. It's also terrible.
Yeah I know it doesn't take snipe sets, hence the question. I think it has a small cone (5' I think?) and yeah, I've never taken it before, but I was thinking about making a devices dp blaster so thought I'd ask.
What I -didn't- know was that the drone only helped the assault rifle's snipe. Huh. How weird and limited. Thanks for the info!
Buahahahaha!

I suppose, more a "Build Up like" power, such as Aim. Many combat sets have something in that vein and maybe they are poorly thought out sometimes they are better when they are different, like Super Strength Rage or more flexible like Claws Follow Up or all new mechanics in Kinetic Melee Power Siphon and Dual Pistol Swap Ammo. Some folks used to prefer the "always on" bonus of Targeting Drone but it seems to have been outclassed by all the additions to the games since it's inception, like IO bonuses to Accuracy, etc.
I think in some ways, rather than re-do Devices they just made Traps?

I'd urge you to reconsider, as Piercing Rounds is a great power. Same can be said for the similar attack for Beam Weapons.

I could see someone disliking piercing rounds if their preferred playstyle is "stand or float in one spot and blast away." If that's how you roll you're unlikely to hit two targets often or three targets ever. If that does not describe you, definitely take piercing rounds. Its recharge is double that of the tier 3 blast but in every other way it is superior. I enjoy DP and now Beam all the more for their narrow, high damage cone mechanics: they put the "fun" back into "perfunctory effort on your own part!"
Skipping Piercing Rounds pretty much confirms that this person doesn't understand DP.
Quick question...
...is Piercing Rounds considered a snipe for the extra damage on Targeting Drone? I assume not since it doesn't take Snipe sets. Just curious.
Thanks!
