  1. Hours of MIDS later here is a rebuild based on input from Ricodah (thanks!).

    This build uses Agility to bump up Def and thus frees up some slots; it also uses the Recharge from Agility to minimize the Ablating Strike delay. The previous build with Musculature had Ablating recharging in 1.55 secs (vs. SS's cast time of 1.452) ... this version has Ablating recharging in 1.46 secs.

    Does 0.008 difference meaningfully make things better than 0.10 difference (but with Musculature boosting dmg). I really don't know. Does the extra delay in the Musc version get so annoying (woop woop sound) it's not worth it for the damage buff? Shrug. Ageless would cure the recharge issue but not for its full duration ... I think the last 60secs only get 10% more recharge which maybe gets it down to 1.5 instead of 1.55.

    The version below with Agility doesn't need Manuevers but it needs somwhere to slot the 7.5% LoTG so that basically is either Manuevers, Hover, Combat Jumping, or Grant Invis. I guess Grant Invis would make sense to invis the pet? I stuck Hover in this build. Alternatively you could slot and toggle CJ for a def buffer .. 2.5% -3% depending on slotting.

    Anyway I'm open to ideas. This is one idea for 2xp weekend. I have a Claws Brute that I'm just not loving and who might be ripe for the strip-and-delete pile.

    The pet is there mainly to slot the +recharge/+dmg pet IOs. You could swap it to Hibernate and slot another 5 Panaceas ... I just think an every-60-seconds "oh crap" button isn't that interesting.

  3. Came up with a DB/EA build. Really open to suggestions.

    Couple of things:

    1) They changed Sweep combo right - so it no longer proc's damage procs in AOE that you had slotted into Ablating? Can anyone confirm? I know there was a change.

    1a) Does the Sweep combo do OK AOE damage itself or is it just lame dot or something? If so, only AOE here is from 10K cuts?

    2) Def: icapped S/L but just missed on E (57%) ... unfortunately have a few slotting choices not ideal to get here (like 4 slot Kin Combat in Brawl). Open to improvements.

    3) HP kind of low as bonuses were sacrificed for recharge and softcap.

    4) Resistances - same as HP

    5) Chain: Ablat-SS-Ablat-AS is supposed to be top DPS right? SS has 1.452 cast time, but I only have Ablat recharging in 1.6 secs ... do you just live with the gap? I can't see much global recharge increase getting it down further.

    6) I assume Musc T4 and Ageless +recovery yes?

  4. I took my WM/SD scrapper out last night for some BAFs and an ITF. He's really competitive with higher-end dps toons, chaining Clobber-Shatter-Jawbreaker (I think, might be Pulverize). And he's got great AOE between Crowd Control, Shatter (hits 3+ mobs usually), and Whirling Mace plus shield charge. Crits on Clobber are silly good.

    Honestly people just don't really know about WM since it was buffed. It's not flashy.

    Earth/Dark/Ice

    I've been trying to come up with an Earth dom for a while.

    Here is a build in progress. Open to suggestions. Abandoned trying to softcap and instead went for a few core control powers and decent melee / pbaoe.

    Left some powers open and open slots.

    I suppose there's an attack chain in there between MG - Smite - Gloom - SL and perhaps Dominate (for ST). Key was trying to get the footstomp clone (Engulfing Darkness) up reasonably quick.

    Smashing isn't the problem. Witness SS and StJ. It's lethal. Council missions for the lose.

  9. The other thing I noticed in the vid was that the AOE radius on Burst of Speed seemed really small and the damage seemed lame. Couldn't tell if that was a hacked character issue or what. But it seemed surprising.

    Yeh probably Fire because you can add the AOE goodness of Fireball to your spawn-diving destruction. Also you can probably get away with Fire Blast, Fire Ball, Snipe, Blaze, Inferno and call it a day (with Aim).

    Scorp Shield may actually be best for much spawn diving given in theory you could soft-cap S/L/E.

    I agree. Zwil kept *missing* with the cone on a relatively tightly packed group of mobs right in front of him. What was up with that? Looks incredibly short, like maybe Shadow Maul range at best. ???

    Plus what is up with all the lethal damage shuriken stuff? That's terrible. Lethal is probably the most resisted damage type in game. Big disappointment in how they created the set for Doms.

    3) Supplement with revised powerpools for more of a scrapper type toon - sure it will be harder but more fun? e.g., new fighting pool, new presence pool (with melee range self heal/endo buff from new top tier presence power ... Burst of Speed -> Presence Power -> etc.)
    4)... maybe add Spring Attack for more TP nuke goodness?
    5) Epic: Fire for Bonfire? Or a damage shield? Or Scorp Shield for softcap S/L/N?
    6) Primary should have (a) MOAR AOE and (b) 1-2 hard hitting st attacks to make a viable chain.

    Discuss?

    I mothballed my guy because even with Full Auto up every 16 seconds, he just didn't feel "strong" -- my other toons seemed to put out better AOE and/or single-target damage. Open to suggestions.
    Wow I got buried under recharge questions. Any thoughts on the above?
  16. Stalker if you care about doing (the most) damage.

    Stalker builds can be surprising survivable, especially ELA / EA / Ice Armor.

    I have a Staff/Elec stalker and he is amazingly survivable and doing low 3-minute pylon times.

    2) Mez protect ... worth it? Have to pick up Acro.
    3) AOEs: Take all 3 - Buckshot, M30, Flamethrower? -KB proc in M30? (if no Bonfire above) ... if not, what to skip?
    4) Ignite ... really only useful with an immob ... and then only on hard targest ...is it worth it? Pick up an APP immob?

    I mothballed my guy because even with Full Auto up every 16 seconds, he just didn't feel "strong" -- my other toons seemed to put out better AOE and/or single-target damage. Open to suggestions.

  19. /SR in theory can be better on a brute because of the Brute fury proc (you have a fast animating attack chain with 2 storm kicks in it, or you should lol) and the fact that Evasion gets a taunt aura on brutes. If these things don't bother you, go scrapper.
  20. Also don't forget the sets have (usually) fairly disparate differences between single-target dps (e.g., Pylons, AVs) and AOE dps.

  22. Shrug. My WB/Kin soft-capped S/L/E and has 38.5% Ranged. But I don't think that addresses the psi hole, even if you move things around to softcap ranged instead. John Printemps posted a Fire/Time corr build that does soft-cap Psi def, relying on some IO slotting to do it. It is in THIS VERY FORUM probably still on the first page.

    For me, S/L/E are more important and one small purple can cap Ranged or carry some BFs or team and you should get enough extra def to put you over the top. Now I'm not soloing 4/8 carnies or aracnos, but you get the idea. I think I'd give up too much trying to softcap Psi def.
