The fact you had to turn it off to make things better is kinda odd in my opinion. Let us know if you want more help.
I think it is just one more thing pointing at a bad or marginal core in my CPU.
  2. This sounds like fun. I'll have to check if I can make the schedule (I know 6/12 is out) but Saturday evenings are usually slow for me. Is there a particular AT or power that's needed?

    BSOD Problem

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions and help and thought I'd post a status report.

I updated my sound drivers directly from Sound Blaster instead of Dell (SB's driver was 6 months newer) based on a suggestion of a guy who was able to analyse my mini-dumps but alas it didn't help. I then started playing around with various CPU options in the BIOS. The one that finally seems to have done the trick was to disable hyper-threading (whatever that is).

Since then I have only gotten the "crackling sound of doom" crash once in over a week instead of every time I play. I can live with that.

TJ - I somehow missed your last post. I'll definitely look into that too.

Since issue 17. I assumed when it started it was just the usual lag after an update and from more people coming back to the server (Justice pop went WAY down during the closed beta).

My characters are on Justice and Protector which I think are both on the west coast. I suppose I could create a new one on an east coast server although that thought doesn't appeal to me. I have enough alts dangit!

    Malta Sappers

My first experience with Malta was with my dark/dark tank and I never really gave the sappers much thought. It was a real eye opener when my /sr scrapper did her first mission vs malta. ouch!

Thanks for the macro! I always wondered how to do that. What if the name of the enemy you are looking for is more than one word?

As the last one was relatively recent (someone mentioned March, which sounds about right), we probably have a long way to wait. I wouldn't expect it before September/October
I think Sep/Oct would be pretty smart. Gives plenty of time for the inevitable release problems to get ironed out after GR goes live and gives the new players attracted to it to get a taste of double xp.

I'd still like to have another one sometime mid July though.

    Disconnecting

What I get is terrible lag at random intervals. Things are happening all around so I know I'm GETTING data but no power I pick actually activates and I cannot move. This is way above and beyond standard rubberbanding issues. It's more like a really big Rikti raid or something. Sometimes it gets bad enough to actually lose the Mapserver connection but usually not.

Everyone in my house has the same problem simultaneously. Oddly, the guy down the street has the same problems at the same time but not others in the team from other parts of the country. I assume it is a Time Warner problem but a "ping -n 1000 www.google.com" going on during a bad spike reported no lost packets and the average time was in the 30-40 millisecond range. It's impossible to get TW to take the complaint seriously if I can't show something concrete outside the game that's slowing down.

It is extremely frustrating I can tell you. I'm hoping the fix for these disconnects will also solve my problem.

Sorry for the less than useful replies but I'm afraid mine won't be much better. We know when the next 2xp time is when they announce it and that is usually 2-4 weeks in advance I think. Anything beyond that is speculation.

I think we are about due for one though! *hint hint nudge nudge know what I mean know what I mean*

Am I dreaming or was the last one a full week? That helped a lot to make sure everyone got some double-xp goodness.
  9. The East coast convention is long past and the other 3 announced meetings are all West coast. That doesn't seem like it really helps the majority of players. If there were 6 m&g's spread out West coast North & South, East coast North & South, and Center North & South then it would be a legitimate attempt to give at least the US players a chance to attend something (and I'd be mildly excited).

The announcement, to me, just comes off as putting a pretty face on an unfortunate, perhaps unavoidable announcement.

Disclosure: I wouldn't have made it to Herocon anyway, so I'm not really affected. This was just my 2 inf.
  10. I've gotten a lot of friends into the game but I only used the Friend program once. That person was on for 3-4 months before dropping their subscription but I never got credit. When I asked support about it they said the person used a series of box-credits to extend their time and had never actually paid for a month with a credit or time card. Apparently buying cheap boxes and applying those codes to get the free months doesn't count toward the friend program credit.

Not sure if that's your friend's problem but just thought I'd throw that out.

I bet that is it. I could readily believe our missed patrol in the ship map originated in the location marked by our ???.

I thought it did but I see it does not. I guess the +SPD made me *feel* like I was recharging faster. Apologies.

    I still like it.
  13. Personally I love Elude. Justice Fencer becomes nigh invulnerable when I kick it in. In addition to a very sweet defense buff and resistance to being debuffed, it increases your speed, recharge, and endurance recovery by a lot. You become a veritable engine of destruction for however long it lasts (2-3 minutes?). I feel like I'm running superspeed with a long-duration hasten and some sort of super-stamina. I'm firing off attacks as fast as the animations will allow and the blue bar never budges. You do have to pause after the crash and if it crashes in the middle of battle it can hurt if you aren't almost finished with the spawn... but I've gotten where I have a good feel for when it is going to go down and I don't get surprised by it like I used to.

In short I have a lot of fun with it.

JF is a db/sr but Camilla is getting close and I plan to take it on her too and she's katana/sr. Camilla has no travel powers so she has the room for it either way but JF has flight and I don't regret it at all.

    But that's talking from non-set-built scrapper's point-of-view.
  14. Those missions had been cleared except for the final few enemies.

I DID see a final objective show up last night. My first that I'm aware of. It was a glowie hunt for 4 and the last glowie showed up as a white star as soon as I grabbed the 3rd one. There were lots of enemies left - a 6-8 man spawn guarding the final glowie and a council jail room holding... I have no idea... I'll use the technical term for it - "a LOT." What a battle that was.
  15. Dominators red side with stalkers second

Scrappers blue side with Tankers second.
  16. There are a few things I find annoying, like the price being persistent across bids, and not having a click-to-close option. If the warnings don't have "do not show again" buttons that are persistent then that needs to be fixed as well.

However, and I assume I'm in the minority here, I really prefer the new interface. I think with a few more bug fixes it will be vastly superior to the old laggy, unorganized thing we had before. I hated that interface.
  17. I had problems with my dominator in that mission. Ending the final fight hurt and with no way to heal myself since I burned all my inspirations during the fight, I died trying to use a burning elevator. By the time I got there my health bar was a pulsing red spot and soon after so was I.

There seemed to be way too many places where your only option is to run through the flames. Even flight doesn't help avoid them. I expect with practice (and e-mailed inspirations) I'll manage but it sure seemed hopeless on my first attempt.

[Edit] Correction Silver Gale - Next to the last mission.

You can get help there while you are playing in game
I'm pretty sure trial accounts can't join global channels. They are pretty restricted on how they can communicate.

Welcome to the game! Junk the trial version as soon as you can to get the full feel for the game!

About half the folks in our coalition use custom power colors. All of them report losing their customizations although I can't be sure what percentage of characters/costumes were affected.

Besides turning FX off I only have two characters with customized powers. My regen scrapper lost hers (green now instead of purple) plus Integration doesn't have any special FX at all... even if I switch it to Default... but I suppose that isn't a tailor issue and is more of an animation issue. I've been afraid to login with my thermal controller because I don't EVEN want to try and recreate the fire look I gave her heals.

This was reported in beta as well. If you try to fix it the secondary pattern on the shield disappears entirely and can't be reset. My pet theory is that the secondary patterns are using the primary color instead of the secondary and it blends into the rest of the shield. Hmm... I think it is time to /bug it again.

    BSOD Problem

Thanks. I'll check out the fans. I know the PS fan is working but really no idea about the internals. I assume that heat isn't really it since it seems more likely to happen at the beginning of my play time (within the first mission usually) and goes away after a reboot, at least for the next few hours.

If it is CPU/MB problems lord help me prove that to Dell. Warranty or not they aren't going to be prone to send me parts just to test a theory. Especially for a problem that only happens in one game and isn't particularly reproduceable for parts which their boot-time diagnostics say work fine.

    I'm doomed I think.

    Bizzarre

Yes. I don't consider it 2 new arcs on each side. I consider it 1 new arc with 2 contacts.

Yes. One of the first things I tried. It was surprisingly clean considering I'd never opened it in the year since I got it.

    I'll re-download COH Helper.

    MB?
  25. I saw the ??? marker in the middle of an explored room on a ship map last night (the friend's mission) along with 3 markers in a hallway moving into the front room (the patrol we had missed). We spent a minute or so in that middle room before deciding it was a bug and moved on to the patrol. Once we defeated them the mission completed and the bogus marker disappeared.

The first mission with the missing hostage had been almost totally cleared. The only thing remaining was a spawn at the entrance (we went right instead of left in a circle hall and missed them) and the spawn with the hostage in one of those dead-end mail-box rooms at the bottom of some side stairs that I've never seen a spawn in before. Even after I defeated the guys on the first floor and was making my way back to floor 4, the hostage's marker never showed up.

One I didn't mention was in a defeat-all paper mission versus Goldbrickers. When we got to the final room with only two guys in it, I opened up my map and no markers were present. We defeated those two and the mission completed.

I have NEVER seen markers show up for my missions. Not in beta and not in live. But I do see them in other's missions. I guess I'll /bug it next time. I hadn't before because I assumed I was doing something wrong.
