Yeah, this bums me out a lot. I just can't justify flying to California for a one day thing. So, hopefully they come to either Wizard World Philadelphia or DragonCon in Atlanta. Those are much more doable, for me, for a short M&G.

Sooo... I been saving up all this money to go to the big show and it turns out I should have just went to PAX east... OGRE SMASH!!!!!!!!! *smashes computer desk in peices*

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My whole vacation plans down the tubes. Thanks a lot. Instead of spending my vacation actually leaving town and going on a vacation I guess I'll just do as usual and just sit at home and enjoy not being at work.

I really wouldn't be angry if I still had time to make it to PAX East but releasing this info LONG AFTER that event is over is just a really poor decision, I will not fly out from the buckeye state for a one day event even though I had in-game friends that I planned on meeting unless they wanna still want me to come to do other things, but not just for the meet and greet itself. Extremely poor timing with this decision, they should have went through with the Hero Con this year and did this "goin on the road" thing next year.

All this on top of the fact that I recently lost ALL of my 7.6+ BILLION INF on redside in an email to myself cuz the email system ate it for a late night snack leads me to think that GR better be A-FREAKING-MAZING if I am to continue to be loyal to this game.

I might just be blowing off steam right now, but... WTF!!!!

Crud. The only consolation I will have is that I will be living in Seattle when PAX happens, but damn it all, I wanted to attend HeroCon 2010.

I'm kinda wondering if GR took up so much time & energy, that any actual planning for HeroCon kinda... well... slipped through the cracks. Remember, even though GR+i18 are coming up soon, that's not really the completion of the GR project, there's still incarnates to work on.

I'm wondering if somebody looked at the workload and said, "there's no WAY we're gonna be able to fit in a Convention of our own... crap! whadda we do now?".

So, someone else says,"well, we have time slotted to go to these other conventions already, why don't we just piggy back some M&G's?"

There are advantages to "going on tour".

  1. There is the possibility of reaching more players.
  2. They can market the game at the main convention
  3. Hopefully the players will also attend the main convention & help spread the word about how cool CoH still is.
  4. It will save time and money. I don't know if they can write off the expenses of putting on their own convention, but I believe vending at an established convention is tax deductible.
It does seem a rather abrupt change in plans, but I just kinda wonder if this is a compromise to a sticky situation all around.

The East coast convention is long past and the other 3 announced meetings are all West coast. That doesn't seem like it really helps the majority of players. If there were 6 m&g's spread out West coast North & South, East coast North & South, and Center North & South then it would be a legitimate attempt to give at least the US players a chance to attend something (and I'd be mildly excited).

The announcement, to me, just comes off as putting a pretty face on an unfortunate, perhaps unavoidable announcement.

Disclosure: I wouldn't have made it to Herocon anyway, so I'm not really affected. This was just my 2 inf.

I just can't help but speculate that they expanded last year's con too much and just couldn't get enough attendance thanks to the economy to be able to justify doing another event in a convention format this year...

I also heard Neutra is getting pretty pricey to book for the weekends. Especially if they don't keep him away form the bar...the tables... the stage... the hotel room mini-fridge... >.>
