Summer static team: Noir Justice

Gray Accord is a small group of players who enjoy running static teams together, creating characters for the team and leveling them together from 1-50. This summer, we've decided to branch out and meet some new people.

We are looking for mature, casual players who enjoy a fun playing style to join a static team on the Justice server.

Noir Justice (Hero/Vigilante)

Disillusioned by the impotent acts of heroes incapable of beating back the waves of crime from the streets of Paragon? It’s time to band together and dispense a new brand of justice. This team will begin as a hero team, but will eventually become vigilantes with the Going Rogue expansion. Noir Justice is based on the idea of the old black, white, and most importantly, shades of gray films. There are some costume requirements for this "hero" team, but any powerset goes!

While there are no powerset or AT requirements for this team, there are costume/power customization requirements for the first two costume slots. In order to help facilitate this, anyone choosing to join this team will be provided with costume salvage for the second slot.

  • Costume 1 – A "hero" outfit done in shades of black/white/gray. (Any color in the first row of the costume creator is fair game!) There is a great deal of latitude in your costume creation, but a mask of some sort should be incorporated. Powers should also be in the black/white/gray theme.

  • Costume 2 – A street clothes outfit again in shades of black/white/gray. Think the 1920s-40s as you create this outfit. Powers should also be in the black/white/gray theme.

(Check out the team link for sample pictures to help you with the "look" concept we are trying to achieve for costume #1.)

And while not required, working in some sort of theme in terms of names from the acknowledge Noir film industry would be a fun and unique way to distinguish this group from all the other teams running around. Film names such as The Big Sleep, The Big Heat, The Narrow Margin, The Letter, Scarlet Street, etc. could be incorporated into the overall theme for the team. Most importantly, have fun with your character and the concept!

As a hero/vigilante team on Justice, the Noir Justice team will have access to the Last Stand base. The Last Stand base has a growing teleporter set and functional workshop with some storage capacity (if you choose to join the SG). The overall base theme is one of warmth, a welcoming atmosphere to all members and visitors.

Starting on June 5, 2010, we will be playing the Noir Justice team on a weekly basis on Saturdays for the months of June, July, & August. While it is understandable that “real life” happenings take precedence, we ask that by joining this team you make a commitment to be there for the scheduled play time as much as possible.

6:00-8:30pm Pacific
7:00-9:30pm Mountain
8:00-10:30pm Central
9:00-11:30pm Eastern

Contact Information

If you're interested in the team and want to sign up, or ask questions and get more information, you can either reply here, contact us in-game on @Nemorin or @MTS, or send an email to the address given on our contact page.

This sounds like fun. I'll have to check if I can make the schedule (I know 6/12 is out) but Saturday evenings are usually slow for me. Is there a particular AT or power that's needed?

Are we talking trenchcoated heroes or Noir heroes the Shadow or just having black, white and grey in the uniform/costume ? I might be availible to do this from June to August baring any unforseen occurance

We've just starting putting together the team, so at this point there's nothing in particular that's needed. You have your pick.

I'll put up a partial roster a little bit closer to the start date with who we have so far, so that we can see if there's any obvious gaps that need to be filled. Since this is a theme team and not min/maxing, we're not being especially picky about ATs.

The only one that we're really trying to get coordinated is the black/white/gray "hero" style costume for slot 1. As for the street clothes and the other slots, go with whatever speaks "noir" to you, whether it's trench coats, dark and gloomy, etc. It should be fun to see what people come up with.

Here's who we have so far:

Nemorin: Nightmare Alley - Illusion/Cold Controller
MagentaBolt: Grave Minder - Katana/WP Scrapper
MTS: Narrow Margin - Archery/Mental Blaster
Justaris: Mask of Dimitrios - Dark/Dual Pistols Defender
NovaFactor: Jasper Falcon - Martial Arts/SR Scrapper
StoneJaguar: deFade - Ice/Energy Tanker

Let me know if something doesn't look right! Looks like we have 2 spots left.

This is my guy, Grave Minder, in his normal attire then his super attire. Can't wait for this team, should be tons of fun. I'll need an invite to an SG as all my toons on Triumph this is my first toon on another server. =P

Also here's his bio:

Harrison Colyte started his private eye business back in 1951 in Paragon. After years of sword training in Asia and a keen intuition he knew he had what it took to live in a city with a reputation for crime and evil. A cinema lover he grew up on the classics of the genre like Humphrey Bogart and knew well the reviews of Nino, the Maltese Falcon being a personal favorite of his. During one such case a young woman tasked Harrison to find a missing jeweled bracelet from her family and through his investigation he found it was a relic of the Circle of Thorns and they wanted it badly for a ritual. Harrison was able to cut his way through some mages and retrieved the jewel, and afterwards grew quite fond of this woman. Unfortunately payback was terrible and she was killed as revenge by the mystics. Vowing on her tombstone that no other innocents shall fall while he was watching these graves. He became the Grave Minder and tends to the wicked in Paragon City by any means necessary. Swift, Brutal, Cunning, Justice!

Cool bio . Jasper Falcon is cut from the same cloth as Denzel charater in Devil in a Blue Dress , he kinda stumbled into the private eye business but found it to be boring and not paying well . Dressing up as the mysterious Jasper Falcon allowed him to extort money from the mob for years , but his gambling and wild ways finally caught up with him and he lost eveything . After serving 5 years in the Zig for robbing the 1st National Paragon Bank , he changes his life , stops drinking and rededicates his life to serve and protect . In June the story continues ........

Sorry but it looks like I'm not going to be able to make enough Saturdays to give it a fair shot.

No problem, thanks for letting us know.

I updated the post and saved a spot for StoneJaguar.

Alright, now that I know I have a team spot, I can start seriously thinking about what I wanna bring to the team. I have a few idea but I wanna think about them first. Studying the current team makeup, a tank is lacking... I love playing tanks. Or I should say, I have the most fun playing tanks. If I make a tank, it will be Ice Armor. The Cold buffs should work well together with that set. But, I am not sure if I wanna play a tank on this team. 2 scrappers suggest plenty of melee and aggro grabbing if the rest of the team is balanced. Another idea I am thinking about is adding a 3rd scrapper to the team and build and play as a tank. The final idea I have is making a defender to help support the team. I am just not sure what I would wanna make. I will think about this more for a few more days then post here what I decide to do.

Background on me as a player: I play primarily on Champion with my alt server being Justice. I started playing in December 2004, so I am a grizzled vet player. With a few months downtime due to computer/internet issues, I just recieved my 63 month vet reward a few days ago. I play this game for the 'fun' factor and most of the time it is indeed very fun. I have numerous 50s on Champion of all ATs except stalker and the Epic ATs. My favorite AT to play is Tanker and I believe that the Brute is better than the scrapper AT. I am currently part of 2 villain static teams playing on Champion and a static team duo on Justice. None of which will conflict with Noir Justice. I beta tested City of Villains during open beta and plan to beta Going Rogue. I also remember the good ol' days pre-ED. The reason I chose to join this static team is primarily to meet new players. I am tired of the same old crowd on Champion... Goto the Champion forum and you will see what I mean. I have enjoyed meeting and playing with some of the great players on Justice. I hope to have the same experience with this team.

Mask of Dimitrios, Dark Miasma/Dual Pistols Defender

Cornelius Lorre was a beat cop, good at his trade but nothing special, particularly by the standards of his native Paragon City. On a rare vacation away from the precinct, Lorre visited the home of a distant relative he barely knew. The only surviving relative, he inherited an estate filled with strange artifiacts and volumes upon volumes of handwritten journals. It was during one of his many attempts to sort the contents of the mansion that he came upon the mask.

The ornate ivory mask was striking, and just touching it gave Lorre an odd sensation. Even more strange was the letter he found enclosed with the mask, written in a flowing feminine script and addressed personally to him. The letter detailed the mystic powers of the Mask of Dimitrios and was signed simply “Irana”. Having never met any “Irana” and somewhat leery of the supernatural in general, Lorre kept the mask as a curiosity but dismissed much of the contents of the letter.

Lorre had never intended to take up the mask, but in recent years the blows suffered by Paragon City’s heroes and the increasing chaos he saw in the world began to make him wonder if perhaps he has dismissed Irana’s words too quickly. Taking the mask to a few trusted friends in M.A.G.I., he confirmed a few of Irana’s claims under controlled conditions. The mask did indeed grant the wearer control over shadows and allow him superhuman reflexes and reaction time, a phenomenon termed “ShadowTime” in the letter’s pages. Always a fine marksman, Lorre discovered that by exploiting ShadowTime he could accomplish remarkable things.

Combining the inherent powers of the mask with his own skills, Lorre finally made the decision to do his part to return Paragon City to the days of good and evil, of black and white. Taking the name of the mask itself as his nom de guerre, Cornelius officially joined M.A.G.I. as ther hero Mask of Dimitrios.

Well, didn't get there in time, but I was going to say just play whatever you want to. If you like tanks, play a tank, but don't pick that just because we "need" one.

Looks like there's still 2 open spots, and a few days left until Saturday if anyone else wants to join. At this point I think another defender or controller would be most beneficial to team balance.

I will make a traps/dp defender as an alt in case that is needed more than the tank. I really have no issue playing the tank. My experience suggests that 2 scrappers will get themselves in trouble to easily Just plan on the ice/em tank showing.

Ah, we were wondering if something came up. No problem, glad everything is all right. We hit level 12 before we called it a night. A good target is 10 -- we're planning to do a Posi first thing, so it would be good to have everyone at least 10 so that we can start it.

I think we may have one other joining us next week. Nemorin and I have a couple 50s on Justice so we'll probably be running a high-level mission or two at some point during the week to help get them caught up. If the timing works out you're welcome to join us. I'll send you a PM as soon as I have a general idea of when that'll be.

That'd be awesome, i'm off next two days then actually start a new schedule at work so i'll be able to stay up later than I normally would, which is great. I'll get up to 10 before next week then!
