Quote:Okay, when I logged back in it looked the same -- fully recharged but unclickable. Thirty minutes into this play session it became active, but not in time to keep the Sentinel from stomping me once, though (rassa-frassin'...).I just used the power at 11:56am here in DC. I'll check back late this afternoon and see if it has recharged or not.
So from here it looks like it now recharges in 30 minutes of game time, not real time. Not the end of the world, just a little annoying. -
Quote:I try to avoid whining about this sort of thing, but man oh man, those two get on my last nerve! Since I like having the badge for the Inventions tutorial, I always force myself to do that, but I've got characters in their 40s who still have the Architect dude in their active contacts list.Probably that one guy I can't remember.
EDIT: You know who is the least obscure? RHETORICAL QUESTION: The least obscure is probably the AE guy or the University guy. I never want to learn about either of those things ever again but they feel compelled to BOTHER me on every single character. -
I just checked with the last hero (brute, Triumph) I played last night. Logged in and the power was fully recharged but dimmed. When clicked it didn't give the usual sound cue to indicate it wasn't fully recharged, either. Between 15-18 minutes later it became active.

Quote:No disrespect intended toward my redside compatriots, but I don't think we have to worry about too many people missing the opportunity. A highly rated TV show is still a small subset of the population. That pool is limited further by only including the people who both like superhero comics and online gaming. Reduce that still more to those who would only want to play if they could be villains, and we're dealing with a group of people who couldn't even start their own iTrial.They won't be getting any kudos from me though. The quote, while it mentions City of Heroes, actually does a disservice to the game as a whole. People who see the show may think, "Oh, City of Heroes, I could play a hero, ok cool. I wish there was a game where you could play a bad guy though." Sure, it might pique their interest and they might come check out the game and realize that they can play a character of whatever alignment they desire, but people tend to be lazy (especially amongst the target demographic for primetime network programming).
(Of course, you'd also need to cut it down more for the people who do check it out, but are so disgusted by the meager 1960s level of villainy the game allows that they immediately quit again. At least, that's what I hear from those aforementioned compatriots.)
So yeah, cool that we're getting some prime-time exposure! I hope it brings a few new players our way. -
Quote:I noticed that, as well. In fact, you can tell the old Explorations from the new ones by their brevity; the new badges have story, and the old ones were written on Twitter. /derailTying into obscure content, the newer Shadow Shard exploration badges make a haunting internal monologue when you collect them all and read them back to back. I was pleasantly surprised going back for them to pad my badge count.
As far as most obscure contacts go, would the contacts in Breakout count? Or possibly the version of Trashcan hiding out in Fort Trident. -
Quote:On the other hand, I use it all the time. I don't have billions of Inf stashed away on mules, so even if its not like buying purples, they are still not free. I also tend to play squishies who eat the things like Skittles when soloing (which is almost all the time).*Shrug* I dunno, I don't get why it's such a big deal. Hell, most of the time, I forget to ever even use the power or have my inspiration tray full already when I log in. My biggest benefit from it is getting T3 inspirations on a new character and being able to dump them on the AH for a fair chunk of change for a level 1.
Is this change the end of the world? Will I /ragequit? Nah, of course not. But I admit, it is kind of annoying that I can't log on a hero, check their auctions, move 'em for a day job, and grab three more Insps. -

I had forgotten that I had a DA mission door when I logged off the night before I22 hit, and when I logged back in, the mission location in the navigation window was "Echo: Dark Astoria." I would guess this problem will be hanging around for a while, at least until all those missions are cleared.
-
That's certainly a plausible theory. I can't remember if I've run up against something else which autogenerated a mission after completing a hunt count.

Quote:Yeah, in the blueside version where I fought my Nemesis robot duplicate, he used my own Confuse against me, and I ended up attacking my "ally," Frostfire.In the level 50 Villain morality mission, the one where you fight your clone, my Gravity Dominator's clone Wormhole'd me. It took me a bit by surprise.
No, really, I was Confused. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. -
There have been some awesome suggestions in this thread! I'm almost embarrassed to post these, but I'd like to see:
- at the end of a Zombie Apocalypse event, all the undefeated zombies face west and execute a disco dance move before falling to the ground;
- a Hellion idly tossing a rock up and down, saying "I've heard that in Praetoria you can knock a hero right out with one of these";
- random swarms of dozens of Gears running from one end of Kings Row to the other;
- Generic Hero "citizens" walking the streets of Atlas Park, asking you for spare influence when you click on them;
- a brightly colored steam engine with a smiling face on the front tooting along the tramway.
- related: when a Freak rezzes itself, have it jump up shouting "Again! Again!"

I have to respectfully disagree with the OP's overall thesis, while agreeing with some of the examples. Yes, there have been obvious instances of railroading PCs in support of NPCs, but (with the exception of the SSA so far) their numbers have been declining. The enormous groups needed for iTrials do make you feel more like a soldier than a hero, but that's just the nature of MMO end-game content (or so they tell me). And to be honest, I didn't know that the epilogues at the end of the DA arcs aren't skippable, mainly because I've loved doing them.
But feeling super-powered? Yeah, I've got that in spades, even when soloing my pathetically misbegotten Emp/Psi defender, and when my brute leaps into a bunch of Nazis and stomps her foot to send them flying everywhere, man, that's golden.
To give you the level of "star power" I gather you'd prefer, the game would probably need to be single-player, or limit teams to 3-4 players, tops. Until then, we're all going to have to share the world, and that means sharing the limelight with other players, and with the NPCs that provide the icons for starting heroes to emulate. -
Quote:If I was going to attend the next Summit I'd recommend Terra Volta for a revamp. It's home to the primary power source for the city, so why is it overrun with (apologies to Capt Castillo) jumped-up thugs? The respec trials themselves could really use some reworking, agreed. (So could the respec process, but that's a rant for another day.)Portal Court could have one - there are all kinds of things that could come out of the portals
Another one would be a totally revamped respec Trial, taking place inside and outside the reactor, which would be made to look like something that powered "the city of tomorrow", and not the dirty concrete and rusty metal thing we have right now -
Quote:The Zig was going to be my suggestion. Also, it could be made into two parallel (not co-op, not concurrent) trials for red and blue sides. Blue side objectives could include having to rescue guards under siege (not under Siege), reactivating the security systems, and preventing some named villains* from making it to the roof to the waiting helicopter. Red side could (obviously) stop named heroes*, blow up the power plant to critically damage the facility, gain bonus point favors by assisting escaping villains, and (ahem) silence talkative prisoners. (*Naming them so they count toward the relative badges.) Unfortunately, since the inside of the Zig barely exists as a map, assets would need to be created, therefore kind of blowing the idea behind this exercise.I thought of a Zig Prison Trial after playing BAF for the first time. It would be basically the Pre-I21 Villain tutorial from the Heroes' perspective where the heroes are trying to contain the escapees and fight Arachnos who is responsible for starting the prison break.
Other than that, we need more trials in caves, maybe with a final mission in the layer cake cave, with a hold dropping the players down into one of the enormous Oranbegan maps. Yeah, a kill-all with Wisps and Monkeys. -

What do you mean? No love for Robert Frost? Poetry informs, dude, it informs the very soul! Look here:

Nor fire, for just my marble feet
Could keep a chancel cool.
And yet it tasted like them all,
The figures I have seen
Set orderly for burial
Reminded me of mine,
As if my life were shaven
And fitted to a frame
And could not breathe without a key,
And 'twas like midnight, some,
When everything that ticked has stopped
And space stares all around,
Or grisly frosts, first autumn morns,
Repeal the beating ground;
But most like chaos, stopless, cool,
Without a chance, or spar,
Or even a report of land
To justify despair. -
I thought it was a nice marketing move to show off something which is otherwise a little difficult to figure out from the store description. It's not tremendously expensive, and has absolutely no advancement benefits, but provides a little cash to Paragon so they can develop more free issues like I22.
