Mission entrance / Carnies

I was finishing up the Harvey Maylor story arc the other evening, when I ran into a couple of issues. One was frustrating, the other was a specific bug.

First, the frustrating one: The penultimate mission on Maylor's arc is a 'Hunt' mission - to defeat 50 Carnies. Great, no problems - except, there are very few areas blueside where you can find Carnies on the streets. There are a few of 'em in a small part of PI, but that's about it. (at least, AFAIK)

If we're asked to go out and hunt 'em, then it would be nice if their spawn locations / rates were increased - at least in certain parts of PI.



...This leads me nicely into my second issue...



Because of the aforementioned lack of Carnies on the street, I used the police scanner to see if I could find some missions with Carnies in them. A couple of return trips back to Talos, and a Carnie mission was available. I ran this through, reset it, and ran it again. I managed to defeat the requisite 50 carnies (and I even got a couple of shards, which was a nice bonus !).

I finished the police band mission, exited, and was immediately set up with the finale of the Maylor Arc - which was expected. However, there was no mission entrance. No location on the Nav bar, and when I tried the mission teleporter temp power, it failed, and I had the following error:

You have a mission, but it has an invalid door_id. Make sure that the city zone containing your door is running on a live mapserver!
Frustrating ! - I was only running the Arc, so I could clear it from my 'active' list. I petitioned it, and the awesome GM_Brandon took a look, confirmed it was bugged, and auto completed the mission for me. So, all good in the end.



I've a theory on what happened here: Presumably the defeat of the 50th carnie triggers the creation of the final mission. Perhaps because I was already on an instanced map when I reached this goal, the spawn point of the mission entrance couldn't be created (I would guess it would have spawned somewhere in PI if I was on a street map). Perhaps the mission entrance was spawned somewhere inside the instanced map I was on at the time ? (Which may fit the above message).

I guess there's no way of knowing though. I'm half tempted to try and recreate it with another toon, or through Oro. But only if I'm really bored :-) GM_Brandon recommended reporting the issue here as well, so here it is!

Right, that's enough typing, better get on with my Sunday. Apologies if this is a known issue. I couldn't see any mention of it elsewhere

That's certainly a plausible theory. I can't remember if I've run up against something else which autogenerated a mission after completing a hunt count.

I had the same problem the last time I did this arc. I abandoned the task and talked to Harvey again and got the hunt to do again. The second time I made sure I defeated the last few on the street.

This is a new bug because I have always completed the hunt 50 by doing radio missions to get them. As a matter of fact, I always do radio missions to complete defeat X enemies unless the hunt states they must be defeated in a specific zone or location because I hate hunts (with a passion). I never had a problem with this or any other mission that auto spawned a second mission until I21.
