here is the quote:
“We’re always the good guys. In D&D, we’re lawful good. In City of Heroes we’re the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat.” – Leonard
“Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research!” – Sheldon

I guess City of Villains could use some more love?

Cool, I always notice the CoH and CoV boxes in the back of their living room, and of course Stewart's comic shop has a number of things in, including the hero logo shirt as worn by Captain Sweatpants, a Freem Shirt, and some posters.

That was a great episode... on top of the CoH reference.. just the scene of Sheldon using the "whipped" app on Wolowicz was hilarious...

I also found the ep very.. timely.. with double XP weekend coming, a lot of us are planning weekend like that

I've never really been into the Big Bang Theory, but that quote may have just done it (more for the Grand Theft Auto humor than the COH reference, admittedly). Time to hit up the netflix.

Wikipedia gives the writing credits for the episode:

Story: Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Tara Hernandez
Teleplay: Steven Molaro, Eric Kaplan and Steve Holland

From its presence on the show, one of these people must play CoH. They may also read the forums.

Step forward to accept kudos and you will not be harmed.

I would assume Molaro (78 episodes) or Prady (105 episodes). other than Lorre, the other folks don't have nearly as many credits and I assume Lorre would not be a gamer (based on stereotyping alone.)

So... what do you think Sheldon's character's name is...?

Sheldor-Man?

Doctor Sheldor?

The Mighty Sheldor?

Sheldorine?

Bazinga. A speedster of some sort, of course.

They won't be getting any kudos from me though. The quote, while it mentions City of Heroes, actually does a disservice to the game as a whole. People who see the show may think, "Oh, City of Heroes, I could play a hero, ok cool. I wish there was a game where you could play a bad guy though." Sure, it might pique their interest and they might come check out the game and realize that they can play a character of whatever alignment they desire, but people tend to be lazy (especially amongst the target demographic for primetime network programming).

No disrespect intended toward my redside compatriots, but I don't think we have to worry about too many people missing the opportunity. A highly rated TV show is still a small subset of the population. That pool is limited further by only including the people who both like superhero comics and online gaming. Reduce that still more to those who would only want to play if they could be villains, and we're dealing with a group of people who couldn't even start their own iTrial.

(Of course, you'd also need to cut it down more for the people who do check it out, but are so disgusted by the meager 1960s level of villainy the game allows that they immediately quit again. At least, that's what I hear from those aforementioned compatriots.)

So yeah, cool that we're getting some prime-time exposure! I hope it brings a few new players our way.

Only if they were too stupid to realize the context of the quote implied that playing a hero in the game was a choice.

Then again, do we really want to attract the kind of players who would stiff a prostitute?

So to speak.

I will admit my wife and I love the Big Bang Theory. I was, am, and always will be a huge comic book geek/nerd/dork and this shows epitomizes some of the people that were my closest friends growing up (1 buddy became a doctor, 1 an engineer, and 1 a physicist - while I sadly managed to chase something I love to do and became a tennis pro hahahhahha).

Anyways, my wife DVR'd this episode since I had to work and she told me that I was missing something great. When I watched it, I gave out a WOOT! when they said City of Heroes and had to replay that scene. My wife rolled her eyes at me and called me a dork and then told me she loved me.
