  1. It looks like the show is going to be poking fun and campy with some serious thrown in.

I really think those that nitpick shows & films seriously won't enjoy it as much as those who play MST3K around them.

I watched them this morning when I got home from work, and I enjoyed them. It's the kind of light-hearted entertainment I enjoy after a long weekend of working all night.

Lots of references to the source material, and a knowing wink to the comic fans out there. It may not last long, but it will be fun while it does.

At least, as long as you realize the show doesn't take itself too seriously, and neither should the viewers.
  2. In my SG we're known for grabbing random lowbies and taking them through our missions just so they can get a few levels and some easy Influence and drops.

If I'm on my WS or character with Taunt or Confront, and I see a lowbie getting pounded on, I'll taunt the mobs to me and stand there and take the hits so they can kill them off and get the xp without having to faceplant.

Also done the healing/ tanking thing for low level teams through the sewers, invited people to my team just so they could use my base teleporters, dropped random amounts of Influence on lowbies, and even did taxi duty in the hollows.

And I do this because it was done for me when I was coming up. That's one of the great things about this community.
  3. Welcome to CoX!

Willpower is a fun secondary and it should see you through just fine.

Just take everything but the last two powers in it and you will do great.

Yeah I'd love to see Blood Angels/ Death Company, Orks or even Eldar. It seems Ultramarines are the goto Space Marines.

I think it's probably because they can just say, "these are the Ultramarines" and people who don't know about the 40K IP will just associate the terms "ultra" and "marine" as being "the ultimate marines" without the film having to go into a lot of backstory about what the other chapters are, and how they were formed, and why they're fighting Orcs and Elves in space.

Fans of 40k know they're fighting Eldar and Orks, but...
[Ork] Lots o dees hummies don't knows that we's in it for the WAAAGH! [/Ork]

Yes, we will take Tyrant for "processing".

    This exactly. Well said, Forbin!
  7. I could get behind this if it were able to be cut off. As you find the sounds grating, pulsing lights would drive me batty.

I would like options for both playstyles though.
  8. I'm going to check it out. I love the lore and backstory of Warhammer 40k.

Right, kind of like you see on those Cop shows where they have an undercover cop act like a drunk stumbling down an alley in a ploy to catch muggers.

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to try this without years of combat training, and preferably lots of armed back-up.

Interesting. I didn't know that. Thanks for the link.

Still thanks to these new media streams (digital downloads, youtube, etc) they have brought in new fans, and more ticket sales to their shows. I know I have found tonnes of new bands thanks to the digital age with sampling and testing out new music.

Also just to clarify a few points also...I do buy albums at concerts from the band themselves, and support them in any way possible (outside of Record label.) I have a large library of movies I have bought from wherever since I felt they were worth the purchase. Then my book library is ever increasing. While I do not buy like I did when I was a teen only a few years ago, my tastes have refined to spend my money more wisely and get something that I will enjoy as a whole, rather than only a small slice.
Also quite true. Thanks to having international friends I'm constantly in touch with now, as opposed to 15 years ago, I'm exposed to new artists, writers and musicians I never would have heard of before.

True, those would help a lot. So would people just buying stuff to begin with or leaving it be.

Ironically, the RIAA doesn't have a problem with me making a copy of a DVD I own and loaning it to friends. It has a problem with me making 50 copies of a DVD I own & selling it, or giving it away to 100 people I don't know.

    KM/ WP vs. SR

(I get that they are both pretty much turn on and forget sets, which will be a nice change from my primay Regen).

    Suggestions and thoughts appreciated.
Ack. The cat just deleted a long and thought-out post on the benefits of both sets.

To sum up, and not retype all that:

/SR and /WP are my two favorite secondaries.

    I have not played a KM/

    I have 2 /sr Scrappers and a /wp scrapper.

/SR for "Oh, the team just wiped, and I'm the only one left standing" moments. "We're only at +4 guys..."

/WP for "Yawn. +4/x8 is all we get for difficulty?" moments.

Then again, I have more cringe inducing moments on my /sr than I do my /wp.
  14. I agree with SuperOz.

I have friends who are cops, but I also know that they're normal people working for a paycheck who, like me, get tired of their jobs, get worn out by the monotony of the day-in, day-out DUIs and shoplifters.

I like to think that the average criminal would be a bit skeptical of commiting a crime in a neighborhood he knows is the area of Knight Templar (example real world superhero) and even though the chances are very slim he'll catch them breaking into a store, they still might think twice about doing it.

Kind of like the scene in "The Dark Knight" where the dealer turns down the client.

Then again, these RWS's might find themselves in a heap of trouble if they come across an organized crime hit or something worse. They, and their families and friends could become targets of the criminals.

Not to mention, vigilante justice is illegal in the US as well.

  16. I really don't notice the buffs on my screen.

I was just telling @Anasthesia about this thread, and she replied that, when I'm in full on scrapper-lock, I don't notice the buffs, chat, ventrillo or even her talking to me from across the room.

It's not that I don't appreciate the buffs, or have respect for people who play ATs I cannot, because I do, really love them for doing it, it's just my nature to play characters who think (the MObs) "THEY are trying to stop me and my friends and they want to hurt or kill us to do it. Therefore, THEY must be the ones stopped and I'm here to do it."

Honestly, my least favorite part of Speed-Boost is the speed. If it would increase everything but my movement rate, I'd be a much bigger proponent of the power. As it stands now, I've had at least three low-level characters die in Atlas Park because a well-meaning Kin SB'd me and I ran into a group of higher level MObs that turn me into Faceplant Surprise, which (being a cook) is my least favorite recipe.

But it is hurting us. Everyone who uses the flawed notion that "I don't have the money, but I want it, so I'll download it," causes a rise in prices for those of us who do purchase the items, cause people who own the material, or get residuals from each showing to lose money.

This causes prices to rise, and causes even more people to use the "I'll download it" train of thought. Yes, adults will make their own choice in life, but it's not just adults downloading stuff without paying for it.

This thread isn't going to stop it, or even raise a small blip on the radar of those that do it but I think here's the ultimate "Why Not To Download" PSA:

It was, "Kill everything and go home!"

  21. As much as I love my /SR characters (I have 3, all capped) I have to say that Willpower would be an excellent choice for you.

My Kat/WP is a veritable mini-tank just slotted with SOs.

    Respec questions

I recommend Titan Sentinel and Mids.

    http://www.cohtitan.com/ and http://www.cohplanner.com

You can extract your current character's build off Titan Sentinel, it makes a datachunk for Mids. You plug that into Mids and it shows your current build which you can mess around with all you want without wasting respecs.

Also, you can post your builds in the various AT forums, and have other players give you suggestions to tweak your build.

I love that movie. Probably my favorite Kevin Smith film. And I'd never need a painting of birds bought in a diner to remind me of it.
