Quote:So if I'm reading this right I have 2GB ram and my GPU has 1 GB ram. I'm at the supported (not addressed which is 4GB) max for a 32 bit OS correct? To be more specific, a 32-bit OS can address up to 4GB of memory. This does NOT mean it supports 4GB of RAM. You have to account for any other devices that have memory.
Quote:If the system wouldn't boot at all, I would guess either:- one of them was damaged or not fully seated
- one of the MB slots is damaged
- the MB itself does not support it.
-
Are you kidding me? What possible reason would the devs have to take the Isolator badge away from villains that did this? That's just nitpicking. Where's the harm? I never did it but I wouldn't consider that an exploit. If I went through all of that trouble and the devs took it away I would be P*SSED.

Quote:A 32 bit operating system will only support up to 3 GB ram. If you want more you need to upgrade to a 64 bit OS. I ran into the same problem. I bought 2 2GB ram sticks and was only able to use one of them. The rest of my system is 64 bit and I will most likely upgrade to a 64 bit OS at some point but for now it works great.Oh, and one more piece of funny business; It took me so long to measure up for the vid card as I was waiting on a memory delivery for this hand-me-down I'm trying to spruce up. Long story short:
Windows Home 32 (as near as I can tell this supports 4 GB RAM)
MB supports 4 GB Ram
Plugged in 4 GB RAM (tested chips and slots individually, all work)
At boot up, BIOS sees 4 GB of RAM
Windows System Properties sees... 3 GB of RAM.
Am I 1) seeing a false read due to some sort of page swapping shenannigans? or 2) Is Windows not seeing that last Gig for some reason nobody ever told me about?
edit: I just re-read your post and am I reading this right? Did you actually get the memory stick(s) to work but they only give you 3GB? I couldn't even put in the 2nd stick. My system wouldn't even boot if I did. -
I played lagfest on virtue and I was utterly disappointed. I have a high end computer with a liquid cooling system, quad core, GTX 260 vid card, 2gb ram, etc... I could barely move. The only relief was when the devs decided to announce that FP were showing up in multiple zones. I decided to go to Grandville and there were so few people there we had to ask for help on global channels. Unfortunately, this only happened once. It would have been much better if the entire event was spread out over multiple zones so that we wouldn't have had to deal with all of that lag. I crashed at least 5 times. When I wasn't crashing I was busy waiting 10 minutes for my powers to go off. If this is the face of things to come then maybe it's time to think about moving on. I am sorely disappointed.
P.S. I had planned on getting a 2nd account next week. Now I'm rethinking that decision. -
Actually, I've just played a little PvP but I want to head into RV and join a team and just tear some folks up. I should just try it out but I've been a little wary because I don't know much about PvPing. I see what you mean about my thread title. It was supposed to say PvP that's a typo.
edit: How do I post the build data? Is there a box I should tick in Mid's? -
I've been working on this build for awhile. Do you guys think this is good enough to go into PvP? Here's where I'm at now:

Is it good enough for PvP now? Will it do well in PvP when I have it fully slotted? I have very little experience in PvP but I want to try it out. -
Thanks for the advice. This build is awesome for PvE. The main reason for the tp powers in PvP is to either team tp onto one target or use tp foe to gank someone who doesn't have defense against it. I also took phase shift as an oh sh*t power in case I get into trouble. Like I said it works great in PvE but until I have most of it slotted I wasn't planning on trying it out in PvP. I'm also only planning on doing PvP on a team.

This is the build that I'm working towards. I'm not there yet but I'm well on my way. I think it's a great build but I'm open to suggestions.

Man, I can't wait until this goes live. I'm upgrading to a quad core so my puter can handle all this goodness. Already running a GTX 260 with 2 gb ram. About 2 weeks and I'll be ready.
-
My computer finally gave up the ghost and it's going to be down for a few weeks. Most of the people that I normally team with already know that I've been having problems this is to let everyone else know and also to let my friends know that I will be back asap.

All great advice guys thanks. I've been using alot of these things already but I gleaned a few new ideas from each of you. I appreciate it.
P.S. I agree with the don't spam in broadcast to recruit idea to a degree but I've gotten some really solid players that way too. I don't know if you would call what I do spamming though. When I login I hit the 3 lowest zones and broadcast once in each one. I get aggravated by the people who constantly sit in one zone and spam so I'm sure others do too. That's why I don't do that. -
I lead a couple of SG's (see my signature). I notice that they go through large swings in activity. Does anyone have any advice to keep people interested and active? The one on Freedom seems to be doing well but it even seems like a ghost town sometimes. The one on Virtue is just downright desolate.
-
While I'm glad to see the video on demon summoning and hear about the new powersets coming in GR what really peaked my interest was the rather nonchalant mention prior to the Pax event that we would be hearing about a "CoV expandalone". I wasn't able to attend the event but I'm really interested in hearing more about this.
-
While I agree with you on the tanker part of this statement, my claws/sr scrapper is awesome. He has excellent defense, awesome damage and he's fast as a Frog In A Blender (his name). I don't play much on hero side but he is one of my all time favorite toons and one of only two 50s I have on hero side.
-
Hey Shik, It's Mechallo. I think you did exactly what I would have done. I know that person has annoyed you to no end and I've often wondered why the two of you are in the same group since you don't seem to get along very well. Hopefully, she will take it to heart and you can both work through this. Honestly, I like teaming with both of you and I would hate to see either of you go. Hopefully it will all work out.
-
Quote:Thanks, but this is a glitch in the system. That's why I put it here. The person was trying to enter the mission from the correct zone.I can attempt to answer #1, and that is it depends which portal he/she tried. If you interact with the AE system in Atlas Park, then the portal he/she must interact with is then the Atlas Park AE system. Any other portal such as Rikti War Zone, Peregrine Island, etc would not work and would appear with that particular message.
The other two I'm not particularly sure about, I don't have the greatest understanding of the AE system, hopefully someone else can assist you there.
Fury -
I searched for a thread on this subject, but I couldn't find one. If there is one already please direct me to it. If not, please use this thread to post about glitches in the AE system that will help the devs to improve it and make it more stable. Include your arc ID#. Here are a few of the problems that I have encountered with my arc #371823 Mind Fork:
1. I invited another person to my team but he can't get into the mission.
2. My team wiped and none of us could get back into the mission.
3. Halfway through the arc the contact no longer recognizes the team leader. Even though he still has the star another person is now essentially the team leader. -
That's really nice. I hope we are getting something approaching this with the new ultra mode. We'll see...

Quote:A month ago I was exactly like you. Now I almost exclusively play 2 of my level 50s. All of the advice that you're getting here is very sound and will make you enjoy playing that one toon even more. I found out that I enjoy my 50s even more now that I'm taking the time to IO them out (and I eventually plan to use them in PVP). I wouldn't take inf. from your other toons. Just earn it with one or more of the techniques the others have described here. I use SF/TFs mostly but you can get recipes and salvage faster using AE. I just don't like to farm. If you're like me in that respect, find one that has 4 or 5 missions in it that you like to play and go for it. Even better still make one that you will enjoy playing. I'm not going to plug my arc here but the one that I made gives me about 150-200 tix per mish on a team of 2 and 400-500 on a team of 4. Translation: about 90 mins on a team of 4 will give you enough tickets to make 4-5 lvl 35-39 silver rolls (+0 x1). Since I prefer variety I mix in the occasional AE arc with several different SF/TFs.Thanks for all the advice, but making money isn't the issue. Money I am willing to spend is. I probably have about 250-300 million spread across several characters, but I am not willing to bankrupt myself to 'try out' a build/character. What I was looking for is something I could drop ten-twenty million into right now, to carry me to 50 when I'll decide if I want to settle down into the process of seriously IO'ing the character out.
(Which is a good theory.. but so far I haven't managed it, as my attention span on capped characters is very low.. I'd much rather roll a new character and gain new powers than spend a week getting the influence/merits for a +3% def increase. I keep telling myself one of these days I'll 'finish' a character with a shiny IO set build.. but thus far it hasn't happened. hehe)
The AE ticket idea is good though.. I always forget about the AE as I generally PUG missions and TF's all the time. -
I'm just happy to see new stuff to blow up and new shineys to collect.
Oh, and that I can heroify my masterminds and villify my tanks etc. too. -
Quote:This is exactly how I feel about the situation. One of my favorite toons is a dark/kin corr and this is exactly how I play him. I couldn't have said it better myself.I always enjoyed keeping everyone buffed on large teams, even with Kinetics.
Its not massivley different from the core gameplay of chasing down AIs and using a damage power on them - I've never really got why one is considered fun and the other isn't.
I find the Empathy buffs annoying because of the ocnstant vigilance required to check if something has recharged. Single target buffbot sets like Kin, FF and Sonic are preferable for me better because you go into buff mode, do everyone (mid combat is the best time because people move less) and then resume blasting when you're done. -
I really don't see the problem. It has been said time and time again, be patient and you will save money. When I want something from the market I always bid lower than the "going rate". Sometimes I get it right away but most of the time I have to wait a day or two. I don't pay exorbitant rates unless I want it right now. The only time I do that is when I can afford to. Bid what you think the item is worth and most likely you will eventually get it if you are reasonable. It just takes patience. The sellers don't set the prices the buyers do. If no one is willing to pay unreasonable rates then those items won't sell.
