When I started this thread it was because I was looking at doms in the light that they are expensive as heck to build (requiring more money than I would ever willingly spend on any character) and that they really didn't shine until 50. I enjoy playing my characters before 50, and so both of these supposed facts turned me off.
Between rumors from beta, people who come back after many issues change things and they don't know the changes (I played with a guy this week who was asking about how to fix the pre-ed build on his main character), and just general difference in motive of the playerbase (forumites like to min/max, players want to log in and have fun without thinking about it too much) between all that, you get a lot of weird claims all over.

    Many Thanks in Advance
The regen cap is irrelevant, I believe in the range of many thousands. My understanding is that it cannot be reached at this time, though I may be a few issues out of date. +regen is the LAST thing you should worry about, it will provide far less benefit to you than any set bonus except debt protection and status resistance. On willpower rise to the challenge is all the regen buff you need or want. Nothing else matters in a mathematiclaly significant way.

You should be building for defense, even with rage crashes. That is why the gods gave us purple inspirations. =) And rage crashes are short and infrequent (though I admit frustrating enough that I deleted all my SS characters and will not make another until/if the mechanic ever changes) while enemy attacks are constant. And as Atago mentioned, stack rage to offset them.

If you really want to build for +regen, get to the hit point cap first. that has a higer impact on your hp/sec rate than increasing your +regen. Also, work on getting all your existing powers slotted for max bonus. Last, keep 3 or more enemies in range for rise ot the challenge. After that, you might be able to pick up an extra 3 maybe 5 hp per second by going for +regen set mods. If you can find an extra 5/sec let me know how because I'd be impressed. RttC will be giving you over 100.

It should be considered mandatory not optional. =)

In truth, do what you want, but really, it is one of your best attacks.

Honest question. For farming, why do you think the softcap matters at ALL? Honestly? What do you do with your inspirations?

On my elec/elec, I start with only 25%-ish defense and I spend most of my time way above the softcap. Why would you even think softcap is relevant for a farmer in any way shape or form?

    I'm really curious.

I have a base with full enhancement bins of the "crap" sets, like Salvo, and Detonation, Pounding Slugfest, Smashing Haymaker, etc at rather random levels from 10 to 37. I get these while levelling on all my characters, and I keep the bin full. All my characters and my friends' characters can help themselves for free. So no need to buy. But I always forget to check and run a few AE missions, deck myself out, make a few million inf, and go to dump more into the bin, realize that #1 it is already full, and #2 everything I just slotted I already had in storage anyway.

I've done this often enough it's pretty silly.

It takes me way longer to figure out which SO's I need than it does to craft or sort through my bins and grab what I need.

I call shenanigans. A level 20 dual is worth more than a +0 SO, and a level 20 triple is worth more than a +3 SO. And you can slot that level 20 IO at Character level 17.

But the real level where IOs take the lead is 24, I will grant you that, and 25 opens up a slew of better options than below. Still, they are very close.

    compare:
    1 Acc, 2 Dam:
    +0: 33.3/66.6 = 99.9% total
    +3: 38.3/76.6 = 114.9% total

    Acc/dam/end/rech
    Acc/dam/rech
    dam/end/rech
    24%Acc/36%Dam/ 24%End/36%Rech = 121.6% total

So you can get better focus, but at a cost of total performance.

Looking at 6 slots (ignoring ED for a moment):
    2 Acc, 3 Dam, 1 End
    +0: 66.6/99.9/33.3 = 199.8% total
    +3:76.6/114.9/38.3 = 229.8% Total

    Acc/dam/end/rech
    Acc/dam/rech
    dam/end/rech
    Acc/Dam x3

    72% acc/84.8% dam/ 24%end/ 36.8% rech = 217.6% total

ED will actually hit the damage and make the IOs a LOT closer in performance. Still you're already better than the +0 SOs and less than 12% off the +3 SOs.

You call 12% spread over 6 slots ignoring ED crap by comparison?

You are either unaware of the numbers or blatantly lying or you have a bizarre definition of "crap by comparison". I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you never looked at the numbers.

Once you hit character level 22 and can slot level 25 IOs you can do this:
    Decimation (all but buildup)
    Ruin Acc/Dam/Rech
    Acc 88%/Dam 92%/End 36%/Rech 48% = 264% total
Set Bonus: 1% health, 2% endurance, 6.25% rech

So by the time you hit character level 22 and slot level 25 IOs, they are worth 34.2% more (1 full SO worth) than even +3 SOs.

  10. I'm looking at a claws/fire brute, but that fire shield is not bad.

Though I think the superspeed is fairly useless, if you want it for stealth, drop an IO in sprint so you have true invisibility. If you don't want it for stealth, save the power pick and use ninja run or a raptor pack. And I'd recommend pulling the generic res dam out of deflection and add a kismet accuracy to battle agility.

Namely it does a lot of psy damage, which is unresisted in that test.

I did kill Jurrasik in under 4 min though and most AV's hover around 2-2.5 min with that toon. Heck I think I killed statesman as an even con AV in around 3 min.

The bane and fire dom would be pointless to test against a pylon because of its aoe attack that would wipe the pets. It is one of only a few tough foes out there that spams aoe attacks as most will happily focus on you alone while your pets go to town. The bane was nearly done when I unsubbed though. So hopefully one day it will be complete. Of course by the time a large portion of the incarnate system is in place and I'm willing to support this product (yay for it being pushed back and spread over many issues) again that very system may well present some other extreme damage options.

That is awesome! Glad to hear at least one of them exists and can do what it claims on paper.

    Double Trouble

    What level and alignment?

I have bugged an issue with the level 41+ villain mission where if your double dies at any point the mission ends in a victory for you. Even if you don't accomplish all the interim goals. It's kind of weird.
  13. Almost all of my builds across all ATs will be taking:

    recall friend
    maneuvers
tactics (if I have either 3 or 6 slots) OR
assault (if I have less than 3 slots)

The only ones who aren't doing this either already had one or more of the above powers, or didn't have stamina so aren't changing at all.

You failed to read his posts twice now.

In his first post he did not anywhere claim to have the first sub 50, and he agrees with you that dom is not necessary and he in fact states that it is not necessary and never was in the top few sentences of his first post with the whole "Or so I was told" line.

And he also knows that the build is not any cheaper and gives a whole paragraph about it being just as expensive.

So you are trying to argue by agreeing with everything he said. And then you did the exact same thing A SECOND TIME.

Really, this is pretty funny. Go for three?

They are supposed to be, but Romulus gave me a tech drop once. I think some of them show up based on your origin.

In any event, the Yin-Os only magic origin can use accuracy. But with the SOs that drop off AVs, you could in theory get a level 10 Science SO, or a level 15 Mutation. Something that the Yin store will never sell.

But any of my teammates can't unless they also phase. Of course, now I have her undivided attention as the only legal target for her attacks.

So far it's my favorite. My top two stalkers are my dark/dark/soul and spines/nin.

I really don't like spines, but I love dark/dark. /nin is ok, I just wish I'd had a concept that fit better with a power other than spines. And I like the character too much to abandon or reroll him int something else. Ah well.

And I am with you 100% on fear over stun. Even if they do run, they only run a few second before the cower kicks in and they politely wait for you to walk up and AS them. =)

All the time people were saying they didn't like the auras because they break hide and I'm thinking, just turn-em on while you're scrapping. Now I get the best of both worlds.

Just need to fix her build. Egads it sucks. Still, if I can hold down x6 spawns when the rest of the team wipes, including teleporting some to safety and using the day-job rez WHILE still fighting, it says somethign about dark armor's sturdiness. heh. I can't wait to see what she performs like when I get her defense up over 15% and respec into taking murky cloud.

    SO's?

    Quote:
Now for the bad part. You can't even unlock the story line that lets you get the SOs until level 15 so you will either have to buy them on the market where they are extremely rare and extremely expensive. Or you can ask in a global channel or broadcast in Faultline and see if anybody will buy you some.
Don't forget the SOs that drop whenever you defeat an AV. If you sidekick up and tag along on the praetorian arc in preregine island, you could generate a slew of level 1 SOs. These turn up on the market from time to time as well.

The interesting thing about these is that they are not limited by origin. They are totally random.
  20. I see this as no different than adding levels or numbers to make something harder. I can fight +4 enemies or the exact same enemy at +1 or +0. I miss more, hit for less, and he hits more and harder. Assuming my defenses can take the shift, the only actual change in difficulty is time required to defeat him. This turns it grindy.

On the other hand, compare fighting rularuu or malta to family or axis america. THAT is how difficulty should scale up. There are tough groups and weak groups. and I like the tough ones at +0 or +1. If I can win, I don't want to spend forever doing it. Making my numbers smaller and their numbers bigger is just frustrating compared to giving them more interesting and dangerous powers.

God modes are nothing more than this exact same thought process on steriods. Lets give them really really REALLY high numbers for a "short" period of time. Pffft. no thank you!

So in that sense the scrapper is highest.
That's because MIDS doesn't take into effect things like -res and it doesn't know how to calculate the full effect of pets, etc. Frosticus has gotten a fire/fire dom and bane/mace each up over 400dps. I've yet to see a scrapper hit 300. The top is apparently and Ill/cold controller if I'm remembering correctly. My search skills are garbage and I didn't bookmark the thread.

    Ninja Run combo

I'm going to toss out another idea: I always take swift and never hurdle on any character ever, even those who use super jump. Why? If I need to go up I have a raptorpack for that, but swift makes me walk faster when sprint, ninja run, etc are all turned off in combat. And that I really, REALLY appreciate.

I've never see this happen. I throw spines and watch them all turn on me and shoot. Never seen them try to run.

I respecced out of spineburst. I died during the animation before the attack went off too often. by the 11th time in one mission I just said f-it, and poof, gone. I dunno the numbers, but with 78% damage boost, it was just pissing people off without killing anything. Ripper, impale, throw, with lunge to fill the gaps worked better for me.

I keep thinking about looking at the math behind it, but then I remember how often I would start using it, the whole spawn would aggro at the beginning of the attack animation before the damage was dealt, kill me, and then not take any significant damage, sometimes none at all. F-that. seriously.

I guess it's all just opinion of the user. IMO, Spines is pretty poor for ST, not even mediocre. My Spines stalker has to run missions with no bosses cause he uses too much endurance to defeat them...that's pretty blasphemous for a Stalker...but he makes up for it by running x3 or x4 where all my other stalkers have to run x1 or x2.
Mine runs on +1x3, but can do +2x4 if it is against council =). The AoE is really, not good to me, but I leverage AS, Impale, and Ripper for single-target brutality.
