Farming at level 30.

I think I am going to level-lock a toon at level 30 for drops. What would you farm? I was thinking about a Shield/ tank for shield charge. Any ideas?

Posted

I'd farm alignment tips. In fact, I am doing so on a L30 character.

Posted

I was thinking AE. Why allignment tips?
Edit: The biggest thing is what toon would I use to farm.

If you're thinking of farming tickets in the AE some mobs will spawn more mobs per group. Freakshow seem to spawn more then others, so do Consortium Guards. I use the Consortium since they are pretty much S/L damage and except for bosses they all run into melee.

I'm using a Dark Melee/Fire Armour brute.

I'm looking at a claws/fire brute, but that fire shield is not bad.

Though I think the superspeed is fairly useless, if you want it for stealth, drop an IO in sprint so you have true invisibility. If you don't want it for stealth, save the power pick and use ninja run or a raptor pack. And I'd recommend pulling the generic res dam out of deflection and add a kismet accuracy to battle agility.

You was thinking about Shield/ Tank? OK, then like Dark Wanderer submitted a Shield/Fire-Tank->
3 PBAOEs

At lvl 30 it is the strongest Combination for farming /x8. This is the Build i used at lvl32, but think for pure farming softcap isn't so important as Damage so i would change some Slots from Def to Damage and skip Phalanx Fighting for BU:

Honest question. For farming, why do you think the softcap matters at ALL? Honestly? What do you do with your inspirations?

On my elec/elec, I start with only 25%-ish defense and I spend most of my time way above the softcap. Why would you even think softcap is relevant for a farmer in any way shape or form?

I'm really curious.

Stop with this whole "use your inspirations" thing. Inspirations are meant to stay in your tray untill you REALLY need them. Heretic.

In "normal" gameplay, yes, some people will combine and save the ones they "need" in tight situations, like greens, purples, and blues, but while farming, insps are so abundant that if 2 of them will softcap you for a minute, you will easily be able to make or drop 2 more purples to redo that again before they fade.

Better now?
But there is one thing in your post i don't understand:

If you think softcap doesn't matter why you're trying to reach it?--->

25%DEF with an Elec/ is harder to reach than 45% on a SD/. Seems that you spend a lot of Slots and Powers for this. And you use Inspis to get your DEF to 45%. So it looks like you find softcap also important

P.S.
The Build i posted was my a lvling-Build, but with some little changes it also could be used for farming. As i pointed out it need some Changes for that, skip Phalanx Fighting or something else for Hasten and move some Slots from the Def-Powers to it and BU et voilĂ .

What i do with my Inspis? I'm using a lot of Reds.

I don't "try" to reach it, I can't avoid it unless I decide to deliberately stop using inspirations. =) I just click all my non blue and greens right before a spawn. If I fill up, I click them all again.
And I didn't really set out to get capped. I just put oblit in all my aoes and touch of death in all my single-target attacks. Mix of red fortune, titanium coating and rreactive armor in the toggles, and here I am. I tried to make a build at one point using sucker punch's planner, but I didn't like it so I just winged it by picking sets I like.

Nothing wrong with that =)

Claws. Brutes unfortunately don't have spines.
