Do you guys pickup Follow Up? Is it really worth it?

Short answer. Yes.

Take Swipe instead of Strike. But don't skip follow up. 30%+Damage and 10%+to-hit is nothing to sneeze at, and the attack itself is not bad.

It should be considered mandatory not optional. =)

In truth, do what you want, but really, it is one of your best attacks.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Apologies if this results in a threadjack...

I just rolled one of these, as Claws and Fiery Aura are two sets I still have no experience with past level ten. Naturally, I rolled a brute. XD
After about two hours I hit 13, and am happy with it so far. I definitely need Stamina, though.

What else is there to watch for? Anything one should avoid? I assume that when I start IOing, I should focus on recharge and recovery, right? Any other tips from the melee elites?

What about consume in the Fiery Aura powerset?

Quick thoughts:
Fitness is about to become inherent with I-19 so keep that in mind for your future plans.

Followup, Slash, Focus and Spin are Claws' bread and butter, but I'll be honest... followup isn't nearly as necessary on a brute as it is on a scrapper in the early levels when considering its damage buff. The tohit buff, on the other hand, I'd still take FU for that alone.

Regardless, in the end game, any attack chain with followup will be better than a chain without it.

Consume just got buffed so I plan to take it on my FA/FM tank.

Single target chain comparison:
FU, Slash, Focus, Swipe, repeat needs more recharge in FU to work without a pause and does less DPS than FU, Slash, Focus, Strike, repeat.

I advise dumping either strike or swipe as you feel correct at some point in the 20s. Leveling up to there, however, I'm a firm believer in taking swipe, strike, slash, spin, focus and followup and using the hell out of whatever is up.

Be well, people of CoH.

I have mine to 32, fu is freaking great with burn and spin. Typically I enter battle, target a lieu or boss, swipe-strike-fu-spin-burn-heal. This gets the fury up very fast. Burn and Healing flames make you retract your claws/redraw, so it is nice to pair them when possible. I like having both swipe and strike, they are very fast, so one is always up and ready. Focus is also great and follow up too.

Burn + Fury + FU = amazing
No Fiery embrace yet, but I will get it asap.
I have not slotted burn much yet, and I was hitting ~125 damage per person in area plus damage over time at lvl 32 or so.

This is one of the fastest leveling toons I have ever had. Stamina, consume, and any endo IO bonus you can find. I doubt I will take eviscerate, I may take shock-wave for damage mitigation.

What do you mean Fitness is gonna be inherent for 1-19? I'll have that spell no matter what from 1-19? Well... i'm about to hit 20. :-/

So then i'll get consume when it's available. Right now I love the damage claws does. I used my 2nd build just to see how Swipe works and it's awesome. I don't know why you don't want that in your build. It doesn't do THAT much less than Strike but it pops twice as fast! But I didn't have enhancements to fill everything so I just went back to my original build.

Is Burn really that good? That's all I keep reading about!

It means that you'll never have to choose it as a power pick. You'll have it from level 2 to level 50 on all characters and it can still be slotted as you slot it now. It frees up a power pool.

Just to be clear, he said Fitness is going to be inherent in Issue 19, you will get it at lvl 1 or 2, not quite confirmed. However, until Issue 19 comes out, you will still have to take Fitness to get Stamina. Issue 19 is the next free update.
