Not quite. We're not exactly scrappers. Melee, but use your tricks. Scrapping it out is trading blows until one or the other dies. Stalking is cheating every chance you get.

I've just hit level 22 and slotted SOs in my powers. Defense is sitting around 30% while Hide is suppressed, but I'm finding that if there is more than three or four enemies, then i usually fall or have to run before I can kill them all. It is definitely better now, with SOs, and I anticipate it getting better as I get more attacks and slots. And Lightning Rod. Of course, inspirations help but they don't drop fast enough taking out single targets.
Get demonic or the hero equivalent (demonic is vastly easier). The trick is as always, cheat. As an example, my dark/dark going against a pack of 4 (2 lieuts adn 2 minions is pretty common). Buildup + AS on one lieut, now it is 3:1. Placate lieut #2 = 2:1. Smite with autocrit from hide takes him to 50%, he and his buddy attack, one hits. Shadow mail drops minion #1 and misses #2 (always my luck). 1:1 and I get hit again. Smite-brawl-smite polish off minion 2 and lieut #2 is back aggressive. I'm still at 75% health and it's still 1:1. I have a while before build up or placate are back online, but I keep another trick in my back pocket: air superiority. Air sup and he flips. smight while he's down. Air sup and I flip him again. Keep him juggling until dead. Tops he gets in two attacks before he dies.

A scrapper would run up and hit buildup and an aoe wounding all 4. they attack, two hit. hardest melee drops lieut #1. they attack again 1 hits. another melee drops a minion, two more attacks 1 more hit. aoe recharged drops minion #2 wounds lieut #2 who probably misses. Another attack or two kill him.

Cheat. You're a stalker. You're good at it. We're like single target melee doms. We cheat. That's why I love stalkers.

    Quote:
How many levels above me can I still one-shot lieutenants? I can take down a +1 lieut, I know that much.
It depends on slotting and AT (not all AS are equal especially because of resistances, for example my spines sucks dog balls). But +2 is pretty safe. +3 gets risky depending on your specific attack and the lieut's resists.

How about Waterspout? Does its pseudo-pet nature avoid breaking Hide? Is it a decent attack in its own right?
There is a well known "trick" for electric/nin to use Attack of your choice/waterspout/caltrops/lightningrod/AS
none of those attacks but the AS break hide and you get back hidden by the end of lightning rod.

Definitely not me. My only blaster on Virtue is Caged Bird and she has a tier 1 alpha and nothing else unlocked. And I would never log out of a stalker to run her on an iTrial. Odd as it sounds, she has even less AoE than either of my stalkers since the only AoE she has is siren's call and a crash nuke (she's sonic without howl).

  4. That confused me for a long time too. I wish I could say that I figured it out myself, but someone had to point it out to me too.

It's also useful for overcapping defense powers in order to deal with the higher defense needed for Incarnate Trials.
Just for clarity, that isn't how they work. a 30+5 is not the same as a 35 And a 50+5 is closer to a level 80 than a 55.

Each booster increases the existing bonus by 5% of the existing bonus. Going from 49 to 50 is only a change from 42.2 to 42.4, a theoretical level 51 recharge IO would thus only give 42.6%. However a booster gives 5% over 42.5 up to 44.66% an increase equal to a level 56 IO.
  6. Good choices for your character. And welcome to stalking, I hope you stick around and enjoy the ride! A lot of people will recommend ninjitsu over SR for two reasons:

#1 it has toys and a self heal.
#2 only stalkers can play it so might as well give it a shot.

Electric melee is one of the best stalker sets so can't really improve on that choice. =)

My advice is don't worry about hide. Learn to use it, but don't depend on it. Don't run away to get it back, don't stand and wait for it to kick in. Stalkers have a lot of tools, hide is one and it is great, but it is not the be-all-end-all of stalking. Please, don't be a run and hide stalker.

when teamed, you do more crits if you are near your buddies. So keep 'em close. Your assassin strike is a key power. With build up you can 1-shot lieutenants, and matched with your other hard hitting powers you can drop bosses before buildup wears off or at least make them really hurt. Plus, it makes nearby enemies afraid for a decent chunk of time to protect you.

Learn to use placate. Don't often placate the person you're hitting. Placate somoene else. That person will stop attacking until you attack them. But you'll also go back into hide for an auto crit. Use that to help kill your real target faster while the one you placated is not hurting you at all.

When you hit high level, we get snipes in some of the patron sets. Please don't take them unless you are confident you understand how bad they suck as an attack and know what you are doing by taking it. There's almost always a better choice (and 9 times out of 10 that better choice is fireball anyway hehe).

I'm too braindead to think of anything better.

  8. Fastest leveling I know of as stated is the farming. Specifically CEBR (Claws electric Brutes Rock), level 1 ambush map farming. Put spin on auto. Walk away. Come back 2 minutes later. click glowie to end mission. leave. repeat as needed. Mine is level locked so I can general low-level recipes in large quantities with little-to-no effort. But I've been told people are hitting level 50 in less than 15 hours just teaming up and sitting in the missions. And I know I did incarnate trials with people using beam and time the day after they came out.

If you actually want to play, then the fastest way I know of is to use the new sewer trial (death from below) until you hit level 15. Then do taskforces.

I got my Peacebringer to 45 this way in about 23 hours of actual played time. Plus he has a couple accolades and is working his way through 600+ merits that have already earned him over 600 million inf just converting to alignment merits, buying luck of the gambler, craft, sell for 150-190million, repeat every 2 days.

If you do the weekly strike force, you'll pull an average of 2 levels per run and double rewards. but only 1 run per week. So can't do 'em back to back, but they're awesome.

The things I mentioned here: Merits replaced random recipe rolls from completing taskforces. They give you far better rewards on average if you were casual, but far less if you were a speed runner before. Hero/villain/alingment merits are rewards you can get if you don't "switch sides" and become a viginante or rogue. They can be turned in for 5 times the reward of normal merits, or pick any recipe you want. Only three are worth selecting: Luck of hte gambler 7.5% recharge, Miracle + recovery, Numina Regen/recovery. Anything else you want, pick one of those three, craft it, sell it, then buy the one you wanted and keep the leftover money as profit.

The weekly strike force is a new thing where every tuesday the devs pick one taskforce and double the rewards. Exp kick at the end is well over half a level. I got 1.9million exp on a level 49 for completion, not countng what I got in the task force.

Best task force for experience is the newish ITF (Imperious Task Force). You have to do a short story arc that starts in the university to unlock access to the midnighter's guild and a time travel portal to ancient rome. The ITF itself is extremely fun and the devs did a great job with it. It is available coop so villains and heros can do it together and it is unbelievably popular on nearly all servers. only need to be level 35 to run it. Expect to gain 1 or 2 levels each time and it takes less than an hour. On the right team, and when it was the weakly strike force, I gained 5 levels in one run.
  9. What is the range on the regen lichens for the LWW? I know we've had people trying to kill all of them, and others say when he's in the corner only the top two matter, and others who say it's line of sight. What is the reality?

Also, on the avatar's heal power, other than the yellow ring, is there any other sign? Because I've been on multiple teams and no one could figure out how he was healing. So some way to identify the person and tell them to get away would be a huge help.

Last, on the avatar's damage dealing and the spawns, several of my ranged characters flew over the battle and avoided a lot of the problems. He doesn't look up often and the DE and IDF have far more painful melee attacks than range. It's just rough if you're not getting the clarion love =)

I think you're misunderstanding the effect of the alpha. The bonus provided by the alpha itself is partly able to ignore ED, but it has no effect on other bonuses ignoring ED.

    I've solod them on:

    26 claws/wp brute
    45 PB
    24 bane
    25 widow
    32 dp/traps corr
    34 fire/psi dom

and a selection of 50s also including a defender. The redside arc is easier to solo if you accept the offer to work with the circle because they actually provide help. But neither is actually hard. Some of my characters are very gimpy and I still pulled it off.

Can't turn off bosses or set the level lower than 0, but you can reduce the number of enemies by running at x1.

and I agree, take the hero merit. FYI the climactic enemy is work a boatload of exp and prestige. I thought that was very nice. Not WTF (weekly task force) level boatload, btu still far more than normal (12x normal if my math is right).
  12. Thanks for the feedback and tips. I know the big ones I have seen to higher ticks. Blizzard and rain of fire. But, like ice patch or caltrops SAY they have doubled the damage, but I still see the same ticks.

I'll have to experiment a bit.

@Zem, I also found slotting a bit of slow into caltrops is worth it. I have two slow/end/recharge, two damage procs, ragnarok, and posi damage/recharge on my stalker. The improved slow combined with knockdown is very effective.

As far as the trading on 7 accounts thing: Hmm. Looks like this [from ParagonWiki]:

Although it says "Lifetime access to the Invention System" at tier 7.

You should have 15-16 tokens and it takes 21 to unlock the Invention System. I think.

If you buy *one thing* on each account it gets you to 17, so still really expensive to get em all to 21.

I guess you pick an account or two to craft on, and flip stuff like a fiend on the others. Maybe gleemail things back and forth, though that's going to be hideous and slow and run into the 20-at-a-time and 150/day limits.

That's my guess as to how to do it.
Super group access and use the bins like a fiend?
  15. On the other hand there is now a triple build that kicks in once you unlock your alpha slot as an incarnate.

In the BAF, for instance, you can contain the escapees and manage the adds during the AV fight. Or in Lambda, you can control mobs allowing your league mates safe passage from one objective to the next. Heck, there have been a few times I've solo'ed parts of the lab or warehouse on my earth/fire/ice dom.

Doms are top notch. In the right hands, with the right build, they're nearly unstoppable.
This is solid advice and let me add a bit more as well. During Marauder's fight, there are more adds coming all the time. Especially during master runs. During the Siege/Nightstar fights reinforcements show up every 30 seconds. In the Underground against the Avatar, there are waves of very deadly reinforcements. Someone has to deal with them and locking them down is key to keeping a lot of squishies alive.

So Antimatter is the only climactic battle where hard controls don't play an important role. And even in Keyes, getting there is far easier with strong use of lockdown powers.

Though not sure why they didnt all play Stalkers....i wanted to see some actual play from some would be veteran Stalkers.

Something like the tip timers would probably be too much to ask, but it would be great to have for all gated content.

  22. I have always wondered if adding damage enhancements to caltrops and other rain powers actually does anything at all. I have gone up to 120%+ including Alpha musculature and it still ticks for 2 each time. And I don't see it last longer because of damage or tick faster.

Does damage do anything or is the only way to get more damage to put in a proc?
  23. I have major problems with Dark Extraction, not just on trials. I think it fails for me at least half the time.

I was hoping the changes to a lot of powers recently that make effects like Stalker Despair and kinetics heals work even if the critter dies would have impacted dark extraction, but I guess death is too different from despawns and the code didn't have any impact.
