The little things you find in out of the way places go a long way for keeping the game interesting for me.
I try to do this but on some of the zones the bank missions keep opening up the exact same contact every time. I'm sick of Radio in Port Oaks, gimme anyone else! I finally gave up and use AE until I can hit Cap, and as a benefit get better rewards since enemies under 10 don't drop recipes but in AE I still get tickets for them.

Hero side I have the same trouble, somehow I never get contacts in skyway, just go from kings row to steel again and again. I had to deliberately stop running Faultline. I love that place but I do it too often. =)

In terms of fun, a big thing for me was starting to read all the missions, clues, and NPC descriptions. There's quite a lot of cool stuff in there. While the actual actions are similar knowing the story makes the missions more interesting and fun. Doing the arc (Harvey Mailor I think) where you learn about the men in the Carnival of Shadows was pretty creepy. And after doing the cape mission and ready the background history of the Rikti War my first Lady Grey task force was really tragic.

Kioshi, can you post that build the long way for those of us on Macs who can't see it since Mids doesn't exist for us?

    Thanks!

I've never been on a hammi raid either, but fortunately Wentworths has quite a few of them for sale. Also you get synthetics from the Statesman Taskforce. And Wentworths has those for sale too. Amazing how that works out.
  4. I'm already past my warranty date anyhow. So that's not an issue anymore. Thanks for the tip!
  5. Hmm, last time I tried to edit my Broadsword the Katana wasn't an option. Do you have to buy all three separately? I'll have to swing back to the warzone and investigate. Thanks! I think the Katana is much better looking than the broadsword.

Sort of. Broadsword users can craft the Vanguard Broadsword. Ninja Blade users can craft the vanguard katana, and dual blade wielders can craft the vanguard blades. They are each a bit different and no one can craft all three of them.
  8. Ooh, good thought Grim. I wasn't even thinking of the pools.

Clarification question: Lieuts count also (eg Soul Mages) or only the bosses (Ruin/Death mages)?
  10. The only issue I see is that I don't have three or four of my own to sell at that price while the market is dry. =)

Frost, can you post that the long way? Those of us on Macs can't use mids so the data chunk is useless to view the build.

Well, sticking to level 30 and above you avoid the worst impact of exemplaring which kicks in as you go lower than 31 your enhancements get reduced in bonus. So really all you need to worry about are the set bonuses.

You can stick in 33s for max effect, but in reality anything from 30 to 35 should be fine. You'll want to stick to as many 32s and 33s as you can to maximize your set bonuses, but supply is so short that I recommend not sweating it and just going with what you can find.

Another problem in taking A. Superiority is slotting, the power deserves at least four imo (I have it in my 50 DM/DA scrapper 5-slotted with C. Impact, but when I respec her into a tough/weave build I'll have to switch to Hover).

In the build I made above, if I had 3 more slots I'd put a full set of Gaussians in Build Up to get the defense bonuses. A Dampened Spirits rech/end on Smite would also be nice for a 6th slot (could take the HO out from Obs. Shield depending on how concerned you are with psi res).
I don't go below 13 often, but I do run the Oro arc Spy Hunt at level 14 at least 4 or 5 times a week for solo merit farming (16 merits for 15-20 minutes of work seems ok to me). There's a few others that get me down to 9, but I don't run them regularly.

I just threw a 19%/19% Acc/Dam into Air superiority, but I'm looking to upgrade to two of them. Keep the full enhancement level down to level 21. To keep the enhancement any lower level than that the individual bonuses have to be lower than 15% and then you would need extra slots. I looked at the quads and triples, because a level 50 Mako gives you 19.8% Acc/Dam/End/Rech all the way from 50 to 21.

But the endurance difference is less than 1 point, and the recharge is nothing significant either. So I just have the one Acc/Dam. If I went to two slots I'd probably opt for a Mako quad and some cheap triple Acc/Dam/Rech to have 38%/38%/19%/38%. Four and a smidge SOs of enhancement out of only two slots while level 21 is pretty decent I think. =) At level 14 that gets gutted down to 14%/14%/6%/14% but not much I can do about it. Three quads @ triples at 14.8% each would give me 44% down to level 15, but once I drop to 14 I'm still stuck with only 15%. So two slots is the max I'll bother with for now.

With the one dual I am better off than two DOs down to 21 and still better than 1 DO at 14, which is what the enemies I'm fighting are balanced against. So I figure that's decent enough. At high level I don't use it. It is just there for the extra attack while exemped since I only have 1 veteran attack and even with brawl I need more down at 14.

As for Shadow Maul, I truly suck with cones. I think in a year and a half I've gotten two or more with shadow maul, err, MAYBE twice. I can't actually recall it ever happening but I'm assuming it must've happened at least once and I didn't notice. I'll occasionally see that I did line up correctly, but I inevitably miss one and hit the other. I keep it around because it lets me slot PBAoE sets which is nice. I have multistrike in it now, while I finish picking up level 32 oblits. Dang things just won't show up on the market =) As far as I'm concerned, it IS a single target attack with bugged slotting.

Between DA's own protection and the heals I'm not so worried about Psi. I also have Aegis slotted right now just because it dropped while I was leveling.

I have a level 1 arc I'm working on for my characters to use from levels 1 through 10. I'm not sure if it is an exploit, but low level bosses barely have more hit points than lieuts and yet they yield the same increased reward as higher level where they have double the hp. And the arc is currently using a fair number of defeat boss and ambushes.

Currently it is only 1 mission as it's in development, but I pull about 340 tickets from foe defeats and another 200-ish for completion if I run it at +0x2 or +0x3. With the bonus tickets for later arcs I'm expecting the full run to be very lucrative as my plan is for it to be 4 missions. I just can't find any good overland maps for the later two missions yet. Anyway, I pull 400-600 tickets on the first mission in about 40 minutes depending on character. I'm trying to cut the length down which will greatly reduce the tickets.

One thought on the rare salvage rates: If we assume salvage drop rates are balanced against recipe drop rates, could it be tickets and merits increasing the ratio of recipes vs salvage having an impact?

The jump in rare salvage prices seems pretty stable in the past few months. Used to be many could be had in the 550-800k range with patience, buy it nao was 1m to 1.5m. Now patience on Military cybernetics is still 1.2m-1.5m unless you're talking waiting a week. Buy it nao for many of them are 2m+ all day every day for going on several weeks now. Pangean soil seems spikey, but many of them are way up and staying there.

4 for 4 on my trials using CMD-Return. over 20 for 20 on CMD-tab (not counting but it's been a lot).

    - Scientific Theory

I may go for a while not needing to use them, but inevitiably, when I do need one, they'll have been run up in the Market. And I'm cheapskate. So to avoid the hassle, I like to have 1-5 of each on hand.

Of course, you should keep an eye out for some of the other stuff that have occasional activity. For example: Chaos Theroems and Thorn Tree Vines ranged in the 60-150K range for half a year (I think), but have come back down. Lately, I've noticed Tremporal Tracers holding steady at 50K+, so I if pick one up from a drop, I'll toss it into the storage bin just in case.
I'd add Unquenchable Flame and Living Tattoo to that list redside. Blue I never have a problem finding them, but several times on my villains I've gone to buy one and there were less than 10 available. Last week was the first time I've seen none at all, but the redside market did run out of Living Tattoos for a while. So I try to keep some.

My own strategy is to keep a few of the most useful commons, a good bit of uncommons and every rare that drops in bins. Makes it convenient. sometimes between what I have in inventory and in the bins I don't even need to hit the market, I just grab, craft, equip or drop into storage, and am back to the mission. If I'm in a group and I fill up, instead of hitting the market or a store, I self-destruct, go to base, drop all into storage and mission port back to the group. this works for me pretty well.

My list matches yours very closely Serial =)
  19. there is a Set of IOs called Achilles Heel for defense debuff attacks. Most of the pieces reduce your enemies Defense making them easier to hit. There is a special one (Chance for Resistance DeBuff) that gives a random chance to reduce their Resistance making them take more damage when you (or anyone) hits them. This is what you want.

Unfortunately, since you mention Rage, I assume you are using Super Strength. I am not sure there are any SS attacks that can accept the Achilles Heel set. I don't know if there are any other options in the Stun and Knockback sets that do what you are interested in.

I guess one option, if you're open to fudging it a little on interpretation could be any of the set enhancements that give bonus damage (Touch of Death Chance for Neg energy, Mako chance for lethal, etc). They aren't quite as directly what you are looking for, but could be interpreted that way.

Well, it was never an issue for me until I installed this patch. I used to jump in and out all the time to get build information off the forums and research stuff on the wiki wile selling and buying and respeccing. Now, I can't do anything but the game. I'll try that CMD-Return though.

@Pum 2007 24-inch aluminum iMac. Same as West Witch.

Edit: @Manga: Doesn't work for me either, same as West Witch. I can CMD-Return out, but gong back in the game is solid black and non-responsive. Have to forcequit and reboot.
  21. Weird. I seem to recal at the time of purchase there were options, but I have a bad memory and don't trust that recollection farther than it can throw me.

How often do you exemplar? Do you run a lot of taskforces below level 45? Because IOs start to give higher bonuses than SOs very early so if you do exemplar often you will want either a second build for exemplaring, or to make your primary build use lower than level 50 IOs to keep those set bonuses.

Frankenslotting as Fulmens recommended is particularly suited to the easy way to get full effect at any level. As well as being cheap inf-wise, it also is very exemplar friendly since there are few set bonuses to lose, and if you pick the right level of IO, you keep the whole enhancement bonus as well.

So let us know how often and how low you exemplar and we can give you some tailored advice.

Gotcha! I feel the same about Jacob's ladder myself. The rooted time, and difficulty hitting more than one enemy just make it not worth the damage it deals in my book. But Chain Induction is extremely reliable as AoE for me as I target lieut's and bosses almost exclusively so it jumps at least once very often. Still I can see where it does fall behind other options. And lots of people are so much better than me at lining up cones.

If only Chain would jump off dead enemies, and Jacob's was a tad faster activating, Elec would be my absolute favorite primary. Might be broken depending on how Jacob's got balanced for the faster activation, but I can dream =). And as it stands I still love electric.
