Pangean Soil -10 million

I havent been following the market much lately, been about a year or so. I noticed in the last few days or weeks Pangean Soil supply has gone down and price has gone up (no kidding eh) Anyways, whats going on? AE?

And bonus question: Im sitting on about 300+ merits each on 3 characters. Whats the best way to turn that into cash. Do random rolls pay out? What levels?

Possible answers:

Someone is playing with them.

There is a change someone(s) know about coming in I17 or GR where Pangean Soils are valuable kind of like when Purples' salvage became known and some of those jumped.

But if it gets high enough then it is worth the 540 AE tickets to get them. Unfortunately that might not be the case at less than 10-15 million either.

Merits:
Random Rolls are generally better on average but you do take the risk of all bad rolls (unlikely but it is possible). So if you are risk advers you simply look at some of the recipes that cost say 100-125 merits and sell for 100M or so. If you don't mind the risk, then random rolls win and win big. (I only do random rolls.)

As to the levels I have found rolling in the 15-19 and 35-39 ranges tend to net me the best results.

If you don't have 10-15 million to spend on Pangean Soil, then taking the relatively short amount of time it takes to get 540 tickets in AE is probably the most efficient thing you can do. The odds you will get that rare (or any rare) running regular content in the same amount of time is much less than the 100% certainty of getting it once you've got 540 tickets.

Standing around fretting about the cause of market inflation does not increase the supply. Increasing the supply by getting them in AE is good for you and good for the market (because it's one less person chasing after the rares and bidding the price to the sky).

Just because you "might" get a decent recipe with the eight Bronze rolls with the 540 tickets would buy you is no reason to not spend those tickets on the sure thing. Random rolls guarantee you nothing. Not that I'm against them -- I think they're great.

But if you need rare salvage and can't afford it, you should obviously do what gets it for you in the shortest possible time. That it will also reduce inflationary pressures in the market is icing on the cake.

Getting one rare off market will not reduce inflationary pressures.

Lots of people doing it or lots of people refusing to pay the high prices will. Eventually the listing prices would need to come down to get sales.

A lot of people doing it, in the small scale, looks exactly like "getting one rare off market."

Seek Trouble: If any of those characters are under level 41, (typo of the day: level 51) I can get you in on the "buy your crap rolls" program. You roll a bunch of randoms with merits, in front of me, and I buy any of the ones you don't want for 10 million inf each.

I just refuse to pay these stupid prices. I go spend the 540 AE tickets and get the piece of salvage I need. It really doesn't take very long to get that many tickets.

If a lot more did that the price wouldn't be so high, but then a bunch of people have so much Inf that they just don't care what the price is.

Out of curiosity, how long does it take you to earn 540 tickets and is that in a non-exploitative mission/arc?

Any arc with a decent number of foes will net you that many tickets. Imagine a five mission arc, and somehow only getting 100 tickets per mission (quite low). You're looking at about an hour of play time, max.

Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

depends on your character and mission level. and how many alts you have in a SG I usually have at least 1 character that I run at mission level +0/+4, maybe higher. that gives you bunches of Lts along with some bosses and minions. can usually run a small to medium AE mission in 30 - 45 minutes and net at least 1000 tickets. then I just drop the salvage off in the base for the character that needs it.

I would much rather do that than pay the crazy prices for salvage, even though I could afford them. just cannot bring myself to pay that much when there is an alternative

If it's merely market shenanigans causing the price to inflate, don't pay it, and eventually the price will drop back down once supply has caught back up after whoever it is bought up all the supply.

I have a level 1 arc I'm working on for my characters to use from levels 1 through 10. I'm not sure if it is an exploit, but low level bosses barely have more hit points than lieuts and yet they yield the same increased reward as higher level where they have double the hp. And the arc is currently using a fair number of defeat boss and ambushes.

Currently it is only 1 mission as it's in development, but I pull about 340 tickets from foe defeats and another 200-ish for completion if I run it at +0x2 or +0x3. With the bonus tickets for later arcs I'm expecting the full run to be very lucrative as my plan is for it to be 4 missions. I just can't find any good overland maps for the later two missions yet. Anyway, I pull 400-600 tickets on the first mission in about 40 minutes depending on character. I'm trying to cut the length down which will greatly reduce the tickets.

One thought on the rare salvage rates: If we assume salvage drop rates are balanced against recipe drop rates, could it be tickets and merits increasing the ratio of recipes vs salvage having an impact?

The jump in rare salvage prices seems pretty stable in the past few months. Used to be many could be had in the 550-800k range with patience, buy it nao was 1m to 1.5m. Now patience on Military cybernetics is still 1.2m-1.5m unless you're talking waiting a week. Buy it nao for many of them are 2m+ all day every day for going on several weeks now. Pangean soil seems spikey, but many of them are way up and staying there.
