Not impressed. Letter sounds like a monthly press release/marketing tool written by a professional copywriter solely for selling us sh#t. Future promises to be grand? That's not news, the future always sounds like it will get better ... especially when a new competitor like DC Universe Online enters the ring.
You want to make more money releasing new booster packs with animal graphics? Fine by me. That's the American Way. But while you're at it do something for the base-builders that are already part of your community, and have been clamoring for help for months now. -
Thanks for all the feedback. I started with the windows mode, and that works fine ... except when I kept some of my buttons too close to the edge of the screen, as I did when I only ran one monitor. Moving them a little further left off the edge solved that problem.
However, now that I know you can go full screen and have your other monitor open with mids, etc, without a windows mode, I think I'll try that too. : ) -
If so, how do you set it up? Can you have CoX on your main monitor, and have a regular desktop on the second monitor> And if so, how do you jump between the two? I'm looking to have mid's open on the second one, and the boards so that I can look things up while I play. Is this possible?
Any and all help appreciated. Thanks. -
When do you get the bonus?
a) all the time
b) just when you're fighting lvl 50 mobs
c) just when you're in lvl 50 task forces?
d) just in special incarnate task forces like Tin Man?
When do these things work and when don't they? -
Got the same message you guys did ... but here's the twist. Tried logging in to DC Online and the same thing happens. You get the the character selection screen ... but all the Worlds (servers) are down.
Coincidence or conspiracy? Hmmmmmm. ; ) -
I'm always amazed at how many pages of comments can develope based on a pretty simple announcement. I'm equally amazed that there is actually a debate going on regarding releasing this issue with or without bugs. (I especially like it when that analogy then morphs into deliciously funny food analogies.)
Regardless of the fact that I don't really care when they release Issue 9 - since I'm already enjoying the game, just fine, thank you -- I believe we should all take this non-opportunity to DEMAND FREEBIES FOR OUR OBVIOUS (OR FEIGNED) DISAPPOINTMENT!
I think an unreasonable demand for a new round of FREE server transfers would be perfectly inappropriate way to waste the devs' time, for example. Don't you? -
Quote:My in-laws play with my wife and I.. They are both 75.
On the other hand... my son plays... and has since he was three.
I'm pretty much right smack in the middle, along with my wife.
I'm so glad I asked this question, and it's really gratifying to see the range of ages here. (Especially your 75-year old in-laws! More power to them!)
Someone once said, "The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play." I'd like to think that was Shakespeare ... but I have a feeling it was Captain Kirk. ; ) -
Curious if there are other old farts out there like me.
I am 60 years old, and have loved comics and superheroes since I read my first Superman comic during the Silver Age in the 1950s and watched George Reeves on TV. And in the 60s, I got to see comics evolve firsthand as Stan Lee brought "real" people into the mix. All in color. All for a dime.
Other than a lifelong love affair with comics (and Star Trek, Sci-Fi and Comic Book movies), I have lived a "regular" life. College-educated. Married. Good family life. Terrific white-collar job.
Anyone else out there like me? Or am I as odd as I sometimes think I am? -
If a toon gets all the badges in SG mode on the Freedom server to get a beacon to, say, RWZ ... and then transfers to another server ... (if he joins another SG) is he still able to buy his RWZ beacon?
Has anyone tried this? If so, what were the results? Go or No Go? -
I'm disappointed in what I saw and heard over Double XP weekend.
First, seeing virtually all of the servers green except for Freedom which was yellow -- regardless of when I logged on -- was disturbing. In the past, I was always locked out of Freedom on these weekends. That's one of the reasons I started developing toons on other servers. Does this mean that CO is really hurting our subscriber base? What the heck is going on?
Second, my brutes with Invincibility - the toons I most enjoy leveling during these events -- were unplayable. The last patch "broke" Invincibility so that it played this really ANNOYING mechanical sound every time it came into contact with a mob. The only workarounds were turning off your sound or turning off FX in-game, which stripped them all away. I understand this is fixed on Test, but if you're trying to lure back subscribers, drowning out their favorite toons with SFX-gone-wild ain't the way to do it.
Third, no 2x in AE. Now I get that this was normal - and that in the past, getting double exp. in AE was the mistake -- but now that some time has passed since the dev's "fixed" AE, I fear (DOOOMMMMM!) that "ending farming" with lost experience and super-sidekicking is backfiring on CoX. Places that used to be hopping are now deserted. (this didn't bother me before ... but did when I saw how empty the servers were on 2X weekend.)
On a good note, I'm glad they extended the weekend over until Monday so that people who normally don't get to take advantage of 2x experience can. -
Yes, MA can be saved ... and yesterday I was treated to "proof of life."
No, that's not the name of a new story-driven arc. I agree with Hercula that until the devs "fix" what they just broke (removing full experience from custom critters using standard powers) ... that real story based arcs won't be played and enjoyed as before.
HOWEVER ...
I just played my first new, post-I16 farm -- and it rocked!! If it weren't for the fact that its a farm and posting its name or ID number here would only create problems for it, I would tell you both. But I won't.
Does it take longer to get rewards than before? Absolutely. But what no one ever used to say about farms is that, second for second, there is often no greater challenge, no greater fights, no greater danger... than to be standing at the epicenter that a jillion mobs coming at you and struggling to survive.
Previously, I was never a fan of farms. The idea of door sitting sucked big time to me. But when I16 was announced I wanted to see what I was missing -- and I enjoyed the farms with auto SK. Now I think that farming opponents just don't get it. While it IS about rewards -- its not JUST about rewards. When you're part of a good farm (not doorsitting), its friggin' EXCITING.
However, given my point of view, I still think that MA needs some saving ... I16 farms need to be more inviting. Its too easy now for a tank or a brute, let's say, to crank up a mission to 8 and do it solo. Farms are more fun with more people.
So if you FIND a good farm ... and you CAN solo it ... please DON'T. Invite others. And lets get AE widely populated again! -
Quote:I have been asking for years for a Ray Gun Blaster. I have even suggested powersets. HOWEVER, how about an optional gun, animations, and sounds for the Assault Gun powerset? The same damage/results on powers but with a Laser type gun(s), optional beam or circular effect (like the mental powers), sounds, and effect of the blasts? That would suit the Sci-Fi types out there would would like a Buck Rodgers or Flash Gordon type of hero or give a high tech look for others.
You have my vote! -
One thing I really like about AE missions are the tickets, and the ability to do bronze rolls (inexpensive) and get some good stuff (along with bad). What I really like is not getting Invention Recipes, even though at higher levels they sell pretty well.
So while it wouldn't exactly be a handout I'd love to get a helping hand with ALL missions by getting the option of get random drops or tickets.
You could get your choice by selecting it at the same time, same way you can currently adjust how many opponents you face and their level.
Is this pie in the sky dreaming or could/should the Devs actually implement something like this.
Your thoughts? -
OK, I admit it. I'm not the smartest hobo on the CoX railway system. So it comes as no surprise to me that, after reading all the patch notes, I'm still mystified by some of the changes in I16. Maybe one or two of you, far smarter than I, can learn me something here:
1) If I create a custom villian group with minions, Lts, and bosses ... but I don't set the mission high enough ... and ONLY minions and Lts. appear IN mission, does that mean I only get 50% of the experience. (I've tried readjusting spawns by increasing number of virtual team and +2 or more levels -- but then they the mobs just kill me. I don't play a lot of farm-friendly- style ATs.)
2) If I enjoy story-based AE missions with custom critters where the author only has one Object-Spawned boss, does that mean I only get 50% experience?
3) Do MA arcs that use standard foes (council, etc.) receive more experience than custom critters? (I hope not since the big lure of AE for me is not having to fight the same old good guys and bad guys that I get in traditional arcs and scanner door missions.)
Thanks -
Nope! Having tried all the 'humorous" arcs out there, I can tell you that there are absolutely NO good comedic arc writers out here!

(Only kidding!) -
I find your post somewhat misleading and disengenuous. I have played this arc and have even recommended to others, in these very forums in fact. However, while your story was enjoyable, there is NO sex it in, except for the actual word "sex" and some mild innuendo. So "selling it" on the basis of sex is just a cheap trick to get more people to play your arc, and not at all as imaginative as the story you are trying to peddle here.
I rated you arc 5 stars; However, I rate this post 1 star!
Sorry! -

Frankly, I don't see the need to create or quash Negative or Positive review threads.
The way I learned to use reviewers was to read a review of things I wanted to see/read/play anyway ... go and see/read/or play it ... and then see if the reviewer and I had similar tastes. (You can play first then see the review, as well.)
After a few times, you will discover if the reviewer has similar tastes to yours. If he or she does, you can count on that reviewer (most of the time) to direct you to things you may enjoy ... or warn you off of things that you won't.
It's really that easy.
Otherwise, just read reviews for the guilty pleasure of seeing people lambasted ... or in ignorance of whether the review has any relevance to what you might think. -

Help, what the thread title says. Every mish I've made has had this issue where a custom boss won't say ANYTHING for 3/4 1/2 1/4 defeat despite being typed into the field...what am I doing wrong?
