Anytime your lvl is 45+, you get the alpha bonus.

When the Alpha Slot was being tested in Issue 18, things the devs said made it sound like the Alpha Slot was supposed to turn off if you exemplar at all, and that having it work at lower levels was a bug. I wasn't in Issue 19 beta and haven't seen anything about it in patch notes or forum discussions, so I can't confirm or deny that they still hold that stance.
I personally assume that it's going to disappear if I exemplar at all, and if I keep it, it's a bonus - I never plan a build around keeping it at anything other than 50.

Huh. I guess I missed that part.
I recall the thread I mentioned having people saying that the Alpha Boost turned off randomly anywhere between 44 and 49. Maybe the issue was how it was exemplaring, not that it did.

Then, somewhere along the way, it was announced it would work exemplared down to 45 and, eventually, the reality of the mechanics as implemented caught up with that.

When do you get the bonus?
a) all the time
b) just when you're fighting lvl 50 mobs
c) just when you're in lvl 50 task forces?
d) just in special incarnate task forces like Tin Man?
When do these things work and when don't they?
