Does anyone use two monitors with CoX?
set CoH to run in windowed mode.
I run two monitors, without any special setup or windowed mode. Mouse goes between the two and when I click it focuses on whatever monitor. Works pretty well to have a browser open in one and a lackluster PuG TF in the other

Since my PC foobar'd I use a KVM switch to use my PC's monitor with my laptop.
My laptop sits off to the side and it's native screen is set to be monitor 2, so it just displays a blank desktop, and i'll put any programs I want to keep an eye on over there *waves to the left somewhere*
leaving CoH free to play on my main screen, so it does tend to be a glance left to my mids builf situation, is very convenient, I will miss this set up when I build a new computer that im tempted to get a small second screen just for the same function.
One annoying factor is that if your monitor setups are side by side is that you can accidentally take your mouse out too far and end up focusing on the second monitor with 1 click. but that can be overcome by having the layout be difficult... but then the layout is difficult and it can be awkward to drag stuff over there.
It certainly doesn't require windowed mode, or any other setting fiddling than normally having 2 monitors while not playing a game.
I prefer windowed so that if I need to move it around, I can.

I cant remember the way to do it. But I have in the past had the screen stretched to be on both screens. Aka full screened over 2 monitors. No point really in doing it.
If so, how do you set it up? Can you have CoX on your main monitor, and have a regular desktop on the second monitor> And if so, how do you jump between the two? I'm looking to have mid's open on the second one, and the boards so that I can look things up while I play. Is this possible?
Any and all help appreciated. Thanks. |
Really, it's one of the less bothersome games for switching between the screens - it doesn't even force CoX to minimize when you click out.
No need for windowed mode or anything special at all.
I used to have two monitors before my kid stole the second one. I kept CoH in the main monitor, and then had Herostats and sometimes the browser open on the other. It was nice during TFs to know what was coming up next.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I've had dual monitors on my desktop machine for around 10 years now; I feel cramped when I'm on my laptop or another machine with only one. I don't run COH on both monitors though, I have it running on the left screen while I have Herostats, Ventrilo and sometimes a web browser on the other. If I'm working a respec then Mid's is on the right side monitor while COH is on the left.
Once you get used to dual monitors you REALLY miss them when you don't have them available.
COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
I run a larger flatscreen off my laptop. I just go into desktop properties, select Extend desktop, then select the second monitor as my main. I run CoH fullscreen on my flatscreen and I drag my taskbar, browser, herostats, etc, up on the laptop screen. Mouse has no problem going back and forth between the two.
Thanks for all the feedback. I started with the windows mode, and that works fine ... except when I kept some of my buttons too close to the edge of the screen, as I did when I only ran one monitor. Moving them a little further left off the edge solved that problem.
However, now that I know you can go full screen and have your other monitor open with mids, etc, without a windows mode, I think I'll try that too. : )
Is there anyway to get it full screen on the second monitor? I could only get it to work if I set my main screen as the one I wanted to use.

That should work if you set the monitor that is on your primary display port on your graphics card to be the secondary monitor in windows
This should make programs start on the secondary monitor
It will make every program start there though !
I use 2 monitors used to have no problems going seamlesssly from one to the other. Now when I do so my screen flickers black for a few moments. I watch TV/anime while playing and every other time i go from the 2nd monitor to the game, my media player goes blank or the image just freezes while audio continues. i have to click back into the 2nd monitor then back into the game to get it to work. annoys the hell out of me.
