Quote:I was under the impression ALL EU accounts were renamed and it was just the globals where the collision test was applied. Might be wrong and mine was affected either way.Not necessarily. If your user name was unique, you kept it. EU was added only for those EU accounts whose user names were also in use by US accounts at the time of the merge.
(Funny things happened if you had a US account named EUxyz and an EU account named xyz.)
10joy
Its still a possibility that the OPs account may have been renamed though so if his account was an EU one he should try both names.
I dread to think what would have happened if you had EU account xyz, NA accounts xyz and EUxyz - even worse if someone else had the last one.
Also Roderick is correct with the trial accounts - I was thinking of the globals on that. -
I'd suggest a perma Eclipse Warshade - should be able to maintain capped resist to everything.
A Tank or Brute will have a higher cap but doubt if you can hit it across the board. -
Also if your account was on the old EU servers you will need to prepend EU to the account name
i.e. if your username was Gore it will now be EUGore.
If it was a trial account it may also have been renamed - you should have received an email for that. -
You should find some with HD4000 series graphics around £300-£350
a couple of the better suppliers which have been established for many years.

I've always found Amazon to be expensive for PCs.
I've used Eclipse a few times over the years and their turnround times are good for mailorder - standard delivery is 3 days. I've had it arrive next day although I tend to save the carriage cost and use the shop in Coventry.
Overclockers I haven't used myself but they tend to be well respected - based in Stoke they may also be within reasonable travel distance if you want to visit.
I'd look to Father Xmas for an idea as to how the low end laptop graphics sets compare though. -
I'm wondering if all those drives are being sqeezed into one drive cage - 2 optical, 1 ssd and 2 (I think) physical (3 partitions) HDs.
If so it could be that the drives are overheating especially if there is a lack of case fans.
Also if they are all drawing power from the same power rail as the processor or GPU it may be they are adding sufficient additional drain to overload that rail.
First thing to check though is that ALL fans - CPU, GPU, PSU and case are operating and free of dust. Also that cables are tied back so there is a clear airflow across the case - either front to back or back to front - you don't want the fans fighting each other either. -
A more directional mic, repositioning your speakers or a headset may be your best options. It looks as if your mic is picking up the sound from your speakers.

Just how much fuel do you really need for that rocketpak Klaw?

On the whole I didn't feel the time limit was a problem on any of the missions except the one where I had to search for a missing runner.
I'd suggest making sure you have access to a fly power to minimise the time it takes to reach the mish and to be certain you have a stable connection and there are no major events happening at the time you are running it - avoiding next weekend might be a good idea.
I'd also agree with the previous suggestion to run it solo on minimal difficulty.
The good news is the missions do not auto start upon completing the previous one (except the one two part mish where the first part isn't timed but the second is) -
One possibility may be that the name matches one for a NPC in content which has been introduced since you created the original character but it is disappointing that they cannot provide a reason for it not being allowed.
It is of course possible it could have been claimed by another player after you deleted to character but before creating the new one. -
Quote:Rikti: DeludedHumanity: doomed. We: conquer.
Heroes: demoralized. Villains: eliminated.
Preparations: commencing.
Invasion: imminent.
Expect: us.
There will be a Rikti invasion taking place on all live servers next Friday, August 3rd, 2012, lasting from 6:00am PDT (9:00am EDT; 2:00pm BST; 15:00 CEST) until 6:00am PDT (9:00am EDT; 2:00pm BST; 15:00 CEST) on Monday, August 6th, 2012!
Resistance: irrelevant.
Clearly Rikti Logistics is incapable of handling opening up two fronts at once - either that or their portals can only target one dimension at a time. -
Quote:As a different example. The rough rule of thumb on the apparent size of the moon is to take a dime and hold it at arms length. The moon typically appears about half that size.
For anyone still using 35mm film cameras - the image on the negative will be about 1mm across for every 100mm focal length of the lens.
This will mean on a typical 5*4 print taken with a standard lens you can expect it to be about 2mm across. -
Quote:Yes definitely distance was a major factor. Are you sure that it's divided by distance? The Threat formula that I know also contains AI mod, AT mod and debuff Mod values
There was a much older guess as to how it worked (from about 5 years ago) before they properly understood how the game worked are you thinking of that?
The AT mod and possibly debuff mod is effectively present in that - it affects the character threat i.e. the threat you see in character stats and reduced by 1 for stealth. -
Quote:Maybe - Maybe not - what it will do is eliminate one possible resourse hog from the equation.I was mapserved for about half a second once last night. I asked in the help channel if it happened to anybody else and 2 people in help said yes while I immediately also had 2 people send me a tell saying yes. 1 of the people in help said it happened to him a few times in the last 2 hours. So the problem seems to be happening to others as well. Which means, posting info about someone's computer here is most likely not going to solve anything since the player's computer is most likely not the cause of it. In fact, I have been map served once or twice besides last night in the last few days.
P.S. And telling someone "turn ambient occlusion completely off" does not solve everything and is an indication you are blaming the player's computer for the problems.
Mapservers usually are either a problem on the user's PC or their connection to the servers. That you only got 4 people responding that they also had a mapserver incident and not the majority of the server would support that.
So as well as providing the details asked for a tracert to the game servers would help to identify any network issues. If you could get that when you are having the problems all the better.
Sometimes there are problems on the server but they are generally pretty obvious as you typically get 50-100 players complaining about it in global chats and no doubt a lot more on the high population servers. -

One of the devs published the mechanism for threat a couple of years back - something very similar to
Character Threat*Damage*(1+1000*taunt duration remaining )/Distance
as a result it is possible but difficult to pull aggro from a taunter with pure damage if you are close and the taunt has little remaining duration.
A scrapper using a taunt however is much more likely to pull aggro off of a tank especially if the tank is taunting from range.
Where the tank has an advantage is that their ALL primary and secondary attacks apply a short duration taunt in addition to any taunt aura and taunt power in use. -
Quote:StarGeek's answer is correct, but incomplete; it only covers the enhancement aspect of your enhancements. For sets, there's a little more to it.
snip
Pieces with procs (Chance for X) or use-activated bonuses (X bonus for 120s after using the power this enhancement is slotted in) will function at any level. Of course, since you have to activate the power they're slotted in to trigger them, if you exemplar low enough to lose the power they're in, you also lose access to the special enhancement.
Also with any proc it will have the same effect irrespective of level so the lower level ones are preferable - and a *LOT* more expensive.
Global procs/bonuses though will continue working even when the power its slotted in isn't available. -
Generally I combine it with getting the pillboxes badges. Get Heavy - use it to take down turrets. Pillbox will generally take down heavy after 5-6 turrets, at which point time to get another heavy.
That and trying to solo the AVs on a squishy can burn through them.
The heavy spawn is bugged so you sometimes need to click more than once - helps for badge credit but not good if you're trying to PvP with it.
Alternatively zoning twice may be quicker than relogging. -
Quote:There's also Windows password manager which may be why some people think its being saved.Well that's...dumb. And different from all the other sites that I can think of that I use that have a remember box of some sort....
So, anyone found a hack around via some FF addon or something?
The first time you connected Windows should have picked up that this is a login page and offer to remember password. If you said Yes to that then just clicking in the password box should fill in the credentials.
Note this is a function of Windows NOT your browser and so the credentials are stored in the registry rather than the cookie that IE/Chrome/FF use. I think whether this is enabled may be dependent on your Windows security settings, some security suites may disable it as well.
If you said NO to that prompt you will need to hunt out a registry hack to clear the entry.
You may also have clicked YES to the "Do not remember any more passwords" prompt. -
Quote:Not a lot of space on the D drive - if that just holding backups fine but if it needs to be accessed by something it may seriously impact performance. It doesn't seem to seize, the issues I have... Very recently I discovered that whenever I attempt to enter either another zone map, from the map I logged in at, or another mission map, the game permanently freezes in the loading process, and I don't know what to make of that since it was working perfectly fine earlier, before I made some important updates. Can anyone please lend a suggestion? Here are the specs and HijackThis...
I also see the launcher running although not the game.
The launcher is known to be a resource hog - so best to set it to close after launching the game.
There are also a couple of applications which look as if they have the potential to use high resouces.
The Bluetooth image transfer and what looks like a webcam app - Cyberlink\YouCam
From the symptoms it sounds as if the zone loading is taking so long that the server thinks you have disconnected - basically the same as a mapserver disconnect.
This could be a network issue or equally could be something using resources on the PC - particularly disk access.
I do see similar if I run CoH on my net-top - basically the Ion CPU on that isn't really up to the task but it using a laptop 5400 rpm drive will also contribute. The I3 on your laptop should have more than enough processor power but other factors can slow down the zone load. -
Quote:It means that Windows has received a request to allocate a block of contiguous memory of x bytes but is unable to do so. Generally because some application is locking areas of memory preventing the garbage collection routines to move them to create a sufficiently large contiguous block. This is usually indicative of a memory leak in some application running on the system - not necessarily the one reporting it.I cant even seem to play for five minutes after the latest patch that added water blast. Simply put after five minutes or less I get this beauty of an error
http://imgur.com/gzg0F
Now my comp has 3 ram, and while I know that isnt much today, I have my performance monitor up and COH never uses more than 1.2-1.3, No were near the ammount to force a crash.
So whats causing this wonderful problem?
This also means that the increasing total amount of memory or even the total free memory may not prevent this error. Basically if you have 16Gb memory installed and 15Gb free but a locked area of memory every 511 bytes throughout the memory map - you will get this if you need a 512 byte block despite having 15Gb free.
Also if you think the many "Memory optimisers" being sold will help - they won't - from XP onwards Windows built in routines will do everything these would but if the memory is locked it will still be locked.
The launcher is known to suffer from a memory leak hence Hyperstrike's suggestion to set it to close on launching the game.
It also doesn't rule out another application also suffering from a memory leak. The link he provided will create a couple of reports showing what is running which will help to identify any other applications known to cause problems.
If its crashing within 5 minutes I would suspect more than the launcher is coming to play here. -

Quote:I wouldn't expect any problems up to about 5 years if its running as recommended by AMD/NVidia.That has been my suspicion, unfortunately. I've had this computer for 3.5 years and I've already had to replace a dying video card once--is it normal for video cards to have such a short life?
If its heavily overclocked its life will be reduced.
Poor system cooling could also adversely impact it.
A buildup of dust could also cause the GPU fan to lose efficiency or even in extremis fail. -
Generally this means one of their techs (if you are lucky) or trained monkeys (otherwise) installs the copy that comes with the card which generally is not the latest version and even if it was may well not work well with OpenGl graphics.
AMDs drivers are generally well tested against DirectX but CoH does not use this - it uses OpenGl and here AMDs testing falls short. Their good drivers are just as good as NVidia's, however they also release a sizeable number of drivers which do not work so well.
There is a stickied thread on which of AMDs drivers are stable with CoH.
I would strongly recommend reading it and ensuring you are using a stable driver.
