XFX Radeon HD 6870 and CoH

I'm at My wits end so I'll post this here because I believe it has to do with CoH and nothing else. I bought this card a couple of months ago and I have had ongoing problems running in CoH. I specify CoH because I have run two benchmark programs (both got very good scores and compared well to other computers on Mark11 tests) and I played WoW for hours yesterday without a single problem.
When I initially start the game the program runs fine then over time (an hour or two) the picture starts going to hell in a handbag. Specifically, words blur to be unreadable (but not all words), letters disappear from words, icons for powers and enhancements might disappear, whole surfaces like boxes or doors turn black, and floors or the ground disappear. A couple of times I have been able to see through walls to mobs two rooms over (hmmmm, that might be useful, lol), And lastly, auras turn into vivid square patterns that alternate around the character. Not all of these things happen at once generally, but when moving from zone to zone, the aura problem did not change nor do the other problems. This occurs on all or any of my five toons.
The problem does not appear to be overheating as it does not do it on other things like WoW or Heaven's benchmarks which I ran for over two hours. I also have two fans on a well vented computer pull the heat out and I blew a fan in through the vents just to cool things more and test for that. It may occur in any environment and just comes on and gets worse if I do not reboot.
I have put up the numbers from the CoH helper so you can see the sytem.
I'm all up for suggestions so I'm willing to try anything you throw up and if you have questions I'll try and get you answers. Drivers are up to date as are all windows components. I have blocked drivers on two audio devices I didn't need (webcam and AMD which I'm not plugged into) at the suggestion of Microsoft. The card was professionaly installed at a computer shop.
Thank you for reading.

Summoning a mod to move this to Tech Issues, as that's where all the gear heads hang out. (Some of them occasionally stop by here, but not as many as there.)

City of Heroes uses OpenGL for graphics. Most other games use DirectX for graphics. Comparisons of performance are like comparing the tastes of Apples and Oranges. If you want to benchmark and test OpenGL performance, download and run Furmark.

Make sure that you have the NCSoft Launcher set to close after launching the game.

You may want to post a HiJackThis log as well so that we can make sure that other programs aren't interfering with CoH.

Turn off Advanced Occlusion and Ambient Occlusion. Completely OFF, not at reduced settings.

You may want to consider upgrading your graphics driver as well as yours is a bit over a year old.

As always, when upgrading drivers be sure to remove the drivers and software, reboot into Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper to remove the remnants of the old drivers still left on the system and then boot into normal Windows mode to load the new drivers.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Generally this means one of their techs (if you are lucky) or trained monkeys (otherwise) installs the copy that comes with the card which generally is not the latest version and even if it was may well not work well with OpenGl graphics.

AMDs drivers are generally well tested against DirectX but CoH does not use this - it uses OpenGl and here AMDs testing falls short. Their good drivers are just as good as NVidia's, however they also release a sizeable number of drivers which do not work so well.
There is a stickied thread on which of AMDs drivers are stable with CoH.
I would strongly recommend reading it and ensuring you are using a stable driver.

I want to thank everyone that replied. What ultimately seems to have solved it was the use of the Driver Sweeper and a new driver so thanks in particular to TJ. Without the driver sweeper I was playing hell trying to get the new driver loaded up and clean. I have great video now and no degradation. Crosses My fingers it stays that way and I don't much up something else, lol. Thanks again ya'll.

Glad you were able to get it resolved. Enjoy the game.
