This announcement from HitStreak should clarify the answer.

Quote:The EULA does specifically say "Fax" and not Phone or email it does also point to the support site as another contact method.already tried I called Brighton office but they are not able to deal with anything apparently and that If any issues to contact the web based support, who it seems are not reading the content of my message and putting a the generic link
http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/news/p...tus_update.php
apparently there is no email address either to deal with complaints direct withncsoft
Those are the two contact methods which are explicitely present within the contract you and they have entered into.
Quote:my issue is with both spent & unspent, buying additional storage e.t.c for characters. I see no reason they should pocket my money or anyone else money for that matter for something they should have been more clear about. no-one in there right mind would spend money on something they would not get substantial use from, Its not as though points comes cheap anyway.
I believe this game closure has been in the pipeline for months before it was announced they have taken advantage and capitalized & basically played games with our money knowingly using loop holes & time constraints to wiggle out of what they can to gain maximum profits. Again giving us "the player" The biggest middle finger imaginable -
Quote:These aren't new to me, but some new player might read this and not know they existed.
The Cryptic Lounge secret room in Faultline.
The Matrix Room underneath PI.
The dev. office under Grandville tower.
Ask any old pro, they'll show you how to get there.
Don't forget the Council base in RWZ
The Paragon City pinball machines in WW
News Team in Sirens
Dev photo on some walls
Arachnos operative fishing in Monster Island
Portal Corps executive sunning himself on an Island there as well.
The original Monkey Fight Club is still open
Civilians in FBZ are named after those of us who were at the Omega Sector Playmeet.
If you bump into a shop sign an NPC will normally tell you to be more careful.
If you run fast enough you can smash the doors off of red phone boxes in Faultline and Sirens
Gate to trainer in IP will swing open if you run into it.
You can kick the traffic cones some distance from where they start.
I've also got a screenshot of my Kin with a Money suit behind the counter in one of the banks. -
contractually he has exchanged consideration and so it was a valid contract.
Value for money is a different matter but not one that contract law will help with.
Quote:To a point I have to agree with you here. However, the Development and announcements thereof were by Paragon Studios not NCSoft. NCSoft dropped a bomb on the studio laying off all of the staff and closing the studio (CoH with it). It is possible that the decision was made rather quickly, and until I hear otherwise from reputable sources I see no reason to assume "devious" intent... benefit of the doubt and all that.
You might have a case, I don't know. My gut says you don't. Caveat emptor, etc.
It really does suck though.
In that case he would be entitled to a refund of the cost of your purchase and possibly other reasonable costs. - Phone calls, postage the fax charge to request a refund etc.
In any event according to the EULA the OP can notify NCSoft by faxing a notice to their Brighton office to notify them that he wishes to terminate his contract with them. They then as stated in the EULA (section 2b iirc)must refund any outstanding game time and unspent NCCoin.
Note this does refer to the EU EULA as the OP mentioned making a purchase in Sterling. I haven't looked at the NA one recently so the refund clauses in that may differ for other players. -
Also Badgehunter.com has bind files available to import them using HeroStats - its more clicking though.

I noticed you have the Steam client running - that has been reported to cause problems with CoH - no issue with it being installed but please ensure its background process is killed off before launching CoH.
A few processes I don't recognise Get(R)Plus, uptodwn toolbar and PnkBstr.
There are also MediaPlayer and DivX tools running - generally you won't need those running by default - only when watching a movie.
It also looks like every install option from ADOBE has been picked - do you use anything beyond Flash and Acrobat Reader? If not clearing the rest of those from you startup config will clean things out a lot.
I'd also agree about giving up on SpyBot Teatime - leave the Spybot installed if you want but just use it for scanning on a regular basis - the AVG (suite by the looks of it) will handle active protection better anyway. -
Quote:Create the same character but when the bank-robbers appear happily point them in the direction of the vault (and the company treasurer coming in to deposit the week's takings) and buff them instead of the cashier.ok you covered the heroes but, what about the VILLAINS!??! lol

Also bear in mind that box codes are still region specific so you can only apply EU codes to an account created using an EU code and NA codes to a NA account.

Quote:well given how easy it is to overclock Sandybridge and Ivybridge processors and how far you can push them - you can easily get an extra 50-70% in clockspeed from those processors for zero outlay - yes its definitely worthwhile - more and more builders are selling PCs pre overclocked and still with a full guarantee for a small additional cost - generally £20-50 extra if you don't want to do it yourself. Thanks for the follow up.
1) In this day and age is over clocking really worth it?
Quote:Thanks for the follow up.
2) Is the performance jump from an i5 to i7 worth the hit in price?
You say you want to run servers on the PC - whether that will affect the requirements will depend on what you are looking to serve.
Testing a small low bandwidth website when not gaming will have little impact - otoh if you want to serve up a site streaming HD video to multiple devices around the house 24/7 even whilst gaming you will probably need you to look at upgrading networking and discs - if that is the plan building a seperate server would be a better option. I suspect the plan is somewhere in between those examples. - Actually even with the first example a seperate server would be woth considering - I'd certainly look at a Raspberry Pi for that. -
Added although some people seem to be confused as to where they are - @Rainmaker from Texas located in Algeria near the Tunisia border, @Marrissa seems to have fallen asleep on a lilo in Dublin and floated off into the mid Atlantic. Then there's @Knight of Armor at about 140 degrees North! - quite how he got that far north is beyond me given the North Pole is 90 degrees! - must be his travel power.

Quote:Sounds good but it might not be so easy for Villains to get to AP, Rogues certainly but not Villain and what about Praetorians? There are a few alternatives - AP Mayhem - won't be open long enough, Mish where you explain matters to Recluse about just who is the 'Destined One' in destroyed AP, Recluse's Victory still won't include Praetorians though.Hello fellow Heroes and Villains!
<snip>
We can start this at say 2:00 p.m. EST I will be on Victory server with my main.
Everyone in Nova, First Ward or Dark Ward might be a better option if you want it to be all inclusive.
Also bear in mind that 2:00 PM EST is 09:00 BST - still possible but is also 08:00 CET - probably won't find many people on the EU servers at that time of the morning.
Also is this planned to have everyone follow the person in front - get enough and you could set it up to follow in a huge circle. Moving zone to zone doing this in ALL zones in turn would be impressive - Boomtown 33 or Bloody Bay 33 anyone?
oops got my Earth rotating the wrong way lol 2:00 PM EST is of course 07:00 PM BST, it would be 11:00 West Coast US and I'm not sure how much earlier in Hawaii - so probably about as good a time as you are likely to find. -

Quote:It looks to be a fair bit wider than thatFortunata Helmets.
How do they work? Technically speaking.
- Is there a tiny slit where the top portion joins the bottom part of the helmet at eye level?
- Is it just an armoured blindfold and the fortunata uses their psychic senses to 'see'?
- Is it chock-full of Arachnos technology that enhances the fortunata's powers?
- Does it have a Heads-Up Display in there like Ironman's suit and sensors on the outside?
- Options B through D?
- Something which I haven't considered?
I only just realised that I may never find out! Screw the Coming Storm, Bastion and the real reason Paramount Studios nixed the live-action Ascendant film; I want to know the truth about the fortunata helmet!
No it looks to be a gap you can look through although the fortunata may be using alternate means to enhance this
I don't think there's any tech involved - psychic enhancement of the candidate very possibly but I never got the impression the helms enhance them.
HUD - again I very much doubt it.
B? D? I don't see any labelling of the options
Something - possibly but as I said I doubt if it is anything to do with the helm itself. -
Quote:If you want a gaming PC with a specific build you need to go to a PC builder not a PC supermarket who specialise in shifting large numbers of basic boxes rather than building to a customer's requirememts. If you want to buy a specific spec of a PC you need to visit a much smaller shop or do it online. - Try the small high street store or specialist PC builders. So, I've decided I want a new computer....and while I usually build my own I haven't done that for a few computers now.
My requirements are pretty straight forward
At least an intel i5.
At least an Nvidia 670
At least 8-10 GB of RAM
I've hit the big box retailer in the area (best buy) and a smaller shop (micro center) and it seems like no one is selling big pc's at the brick and mortar store. Most try to scrimp and put an nvidia 640 in the case, which is a good video card, but its not a 'true' gaming card.
Has buying a gaming pc always been this hard to find at retail?
Also, is the 640 comparable to the 670?
Is this a first world problem or what?
If their website allows you to customise your build you are looking at the right sort of site. -
Quote:My new desktop backgroundThis is beautiful. Really well done. I wouldn't change anything.
I agree that it needs to be a t-shirt.
Would be great to see these available on T-Shirts but would really need higher resolution versions. - and the company to send to UK as well. -
This had gone out of my mind with the recent issues - looks like all the PCs are now gone but do they have any spare monitors available.
I'm local so can get along at any time. -
Go fishing on Monster Island with the NPC - or sunbathing with the Portal Corps engineer - note thats the zone not the area in PI.
Try and pry the BIG door open in RWZ
Any characters still in PDP?
Easter egg in Faultline
Get interviewed by the TV crew in Sirens
"Explain" matters to the Spetznatz
Rikti fight club - no not the PD one. -
Quote:They didn't choose to do so - NCSOFT cancelled ALL recurrent billing so anyone whose account was due to renew after 31 August cannot do so.It's plenty fair. They chose to drop their accounts. Something else was more important. I'm sure it's not pleasant to realize that the option to wait a week before you resub leaves you high and dry - just be glad you had the option instead of being locked into paying it every month.

Quote:Hey there folks, just looking for some clarification. How is the praetorian storyline meant to unfold on the blue side? My impression from digging around was that Tina Macintyre's arc was supposed to be the introduction, but she talks to the player as if Praetoria and the associated characters are all familiar.
Thanks!
I presume from the above that you haven't run the introductory arcs in Atlas. -
Quote:Since I happen to work as a software engineer and I happen to know how bug reports work, I know beta is the correct place for suggestions. I've seen several of my suggestions in past CoH betas worked into later issues. It's the normal way things function--suggestions from one beta are forwarded to software engineering in later releases. And it's the same for all software--accounting, internet, games, etc.
I'd disagree with you on that - beta is a testing environment. If the suggestion specifically relates to the issue being tested then the beta forum would be appropriate. If on the other hand it relates to a live problem which is not addressed by the issue released to beta then it definitely has no place on the beta forums.
The suggestion here relates to what would be new functionality - i.e. it will not be anything being currently tested in beta. This would be a feature request and the place for that is the Suggestions forum where apart from anything else it won't get wiped out after testing is completed. -
Quote:Well, that's something that would have never occurred to me - taunting by/from an MM. My only MM has only teamed once, on a tf, and has been unplayed at level 26 or 27 for about 90 days. The notion of getting taunt, of it even being available outside of a power pool choice is interesting to me. Thinking outside the box, I like it. Not enough to do it myself, mind you, but I like it.
As far as the pink patches go, there is a little timer that shows up in the trial info pane. At :03, I just sprint around until I see where they are, then resume the beat down. If we don't have a tank or a brute to taunt, I simply don't start the trial. But that's me, one of those stuck inside the box types.
Well MMs were originally intended to be the "tank" AT redside - in bodyguard mode they can be extremely tough. Need to be careful with high AoE damage mobs though. -

Quote:TP Foe has an effect called Residual Ether which has a 50% chance to Taunt. So, even if you attempt to TP Foe an even level Boss or AV (which you can't) you can still have a 50% chance to 'hit' with the Taunt and they'll come running. The Taunt is a 10 foot sphere, so any very nearby foes will also be taunted. Not to mention if the spawn has any AI alerting each other to being attacked.
TP Foe can have its range extended so far, that you're out of most foe's perception range, which is also the point at which they'll stop pursuing if you didn't do damage to them. Thus you can be so far away that you can TP a foe and even if the others are alerted, they won't come running. This is especially true if you're on another level (up a ramp, e.g.) where pathing makes you seem farther away according to their AI, or, if you're around a corner and out of the line of sight.
Ah so thats the mechanic behind it - I've several times used TP foe to pull an AV - takes two successful hits to aggro it - then he'll come running - all on his lonesome. -
We took it down on Union last week - must have been about 40 tentacles to take out first though. Once they were down the head dropped quickly enough. The Coralax and Arachnos respawns were more of an problem than the upgraded Lusca.

Quote:It's possible, but it can be painful. Unless you can put together a team, or crank up the difficulty solo, then you're very likely going to end up with a gap of a few levels between the end of First Ward and be beginning of Night Ward. Be prepared for a lot of street sweeping and repeatable missions.
It is actually possible (and always has been) to level to 50 without leaving Praetoria - you will need to team with lowbies, doing their mishes to continue earning XP after the mid 20s though.
You could do it solo running Easter/Hallowe'en mishes in PD if you really wanted.
