It seems to me that, apart from players... The biggest thing lacking in PvP zones lately is manners. I was having great fun in Sirens a month or so ago, only as a hero though. So I decided to spend some time on a villain to see how life was, "on the other side". Having done that, and reached a level where I can enter all the current PvP zones, I find myself wondering why I bothered.
There just seems to be so much ego-flexing and foul mouthed ranting going on, it leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. The final straw was today, when I ventured into Warburg for the first time as a villain. I bounced around for a bit, and happened apon a few villains/heroes in what looked like a ffa bash. I jumped in and started trying to hit things, this being an all-against-all zone and all. The next thing I know, a stalker, who I have never spoken to before, tells me to "wee off", only with a p*** word instead of wee (you get the idea). Now, if an organised fight was going on or something, surely, "sorry mate, we're having a private battle here" or something, would have been much more polite. But I guess that courtesy and manners is too much to ask from the avarage "I'm hidden behind a monitor so I'm a big man" games player.
Thing is, at the age of 32, I can do without being spoken to like a skidmark on a hotel towel. So people, think before you type, manners cost nothing, and they make the game a more pleasant place to be.
I wonder if this is the reason GOOD PvPers like Stalk-obot no longer frequent Sirens... Sad.
Sorry if this seems like a rant, I just found myself feeling disappointed... It's actually put me off playing the game. -
Afternoon all...
My level 26 Stalker would benefit from a respec, is anyone planning one this weekend? Any chance I could join?
Thanks for reading. -
Well... As has been said, all have strengths and weaknesses. Though I have to say, I dont think I've seen the hero hospital in Sirens as busy as it was the time a villain team, consisting mainly of corrupters, decided to hang out by the hero base. Much much debuffage and death... Ouch!

Impaler did this last night... And I have no other toons at the correct level, so I'll bow out and make room for someone that needs it.
-
I'd like to do this with Impaler, lvl 42 spines/invul will exemp of course.
-
My whine about PvP is this... Whenever I go to Sirens (Warburg and BB don't do it for me), I end up staying there for far too long!
It ended up being much more fun than I expected, having opponents like Botty helps, perfect attitude. *Tips hat*
Man I feel like crapola today! Far too late a night last night... HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!! -
Hiya.
I have a 50 fire/ice, and as has been said, it really is a one trick pony, for a while. Your only real damage is the burn/ice patch combo, that said it does work well. While mobs are bouncing they cant do as much damage, and cant run from burn, so they melt, albeit slower than they used to.
I have burn slotted 3dmg/3rch and ice patch 1rech/1end red, just to lower end usage a little, everything helps!
The only AoE in /ice is frost breath* which is a cone, its not bad but its not fire sword circle. Change frozen aura to ice sword circle dammit!
Once you get the epics you can access fireball which is a great AoE. Slot it 3dmg/1acc/1end/1rech and combo it with burn/ice patch to melt those mobs away. Fireball can also be used as an aggro pulling tool, just whack a mob with it to get insta aggro with added damage.
Hope this has helped some.
*It occurs to me that this isn't the name of the power, sure its frost something though.

Agreed.
Fighting in the battles in Sirens is a form of mission, so why not make the debt in PvP zones half of debt in general PvE open areas, bringing it into line with mission debt. It wont sting as much, and people will be less afraid of entering the zone. -
When I first ventured into Sirens and was getting slaughtered by Stalkers, I though "this sucks" too. My solutions were twofold, I play my spines scrapper in Sirens almost exclusively now, seems to work well.
And I also made my own stalker! If you can't beat em, join em. -
I can play all the other demo files (S4 footage), but when I try to play any of these I get an error... Something about 'Don't know how to play the file' or something like that. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Hang on just a second here...
If using decieve is cheating then surely using seeds of confusion must be too! Its used on me often enough and although its a pain, (especially to any heroes standing near me, confused quills ftw!) its perfectly valid and I'm not gonna send nasty tells to whoever uses it.
Some people just HATE being beaten Matron... So beat them some more! -
Looks damn good to me.
Though I tried Stun out back in I4 and though it worked ok on npcs, it didn't seem too hot in the arena. Has it gotten better since then? -
Tell me about it!
Though we can diversify now, so it might work... Maybe. -
Hmm...
I have a Fire/Rad and am considering respeccing in Hot Feet, and heres why.
Containment. Imps may be the damage power of choice post 32, but being a summon they get no benefit from it. HF on the other hand does. I would imagine slotted Choking Cloud and slotted Hot Feet could be quite a handy combo, not to mention our other holds.
I've avoided HF til now myself, but I've seen a lot of talk about it being awesome damage since Containment. Will go to test later to make sure though. -
...There will ever be the option to have two setups for your toons? One for PvE and one for PvP, giving you a choice when you log in. I'd like to respec one or two of my alts for PvP, but don't want to gimp them for PvE.
Oh well... I'll go back to my corner now. -
Agreed.
The attack on the Hero base early on was mental!
Tought me a thing or two about playing an illu. troller in PvP. Is confuse considered cheap tactics?
And as you say, no trash talk just congrats for good/sneaky/lol inducing kills. I was in Sirens all night I think!
Best... Time... Ever! -
Big grats...
Glad one of us had the patience to stick with it. Controllers are fun*, you'll enjoy. -
My Fire/Energy blaster currently has the Force pool. Temp invuln did have the highest resist to S/L, whether it has now I don't know. The only other shield worth taking would be elec. Mainly cause it has good S/L resist plus energy resist, which I would say is more common than fire or cold.
PFF is indeed a good panic button, stops many attacks and lasts longer than 30 seconds!
Repulsion bubble used to drain my end far too quick to be useful so I dropped it, may be better now tho as said above. Force of Nature is a great power, much like MoG but with an end crash when it drops, very useful for AV fights, hit conserve (if you have it) just before it drops and you're golden.
So... To sum up, I would go Force or Elec. Best to try them all on test tho, thats what I did. -
I've been in a team with Lui and his PB a few times in the past, and each time hes behaved like a [censored]. Also seems to like lecturing people on their builds. And I'm sorry, but being 15 is not an excuse, I certainly didn't behave like that at that age. The last time I teamed with his PB was on a 6 man team I believe, outdoor map mish, he was invited to team, entered mish then quit team and proceeded to kill mobs, stealing the teams xp. I personally have given him several chances by teaming with him, and each time hes ended up on whichever of my alts I was playing ignore list.

You know what... You're right.
My problem was purely being ganged up on initally, it all cascaded from there I guess. I'm not going to let that taintthe respect I had for you from the time you and EK stepped up to help me through the first respec all that time ago, ain't worth it.
Also... Rain. Be great to go into the arena with you, I still need to work out my respec so need a good even battle to show the holes in my build, just hope its not like a sieve!
-
Ok... First of all, the language thing wasn't aimed specifically at you, I'm fully aware that you're not British.
You conveniently forget the times you went down? Not surprising I guess, you'll never admit to being beaten. And the majority of the time I was solo, had team invites and refused them its just that everyone was generally aiming at the same group of people.
The important thing here is that I'm not the only one who thinks this of you, the only ones being vocal to the contrary here seem to be those on your team!
If I really wanted a fair match I could bring out one of my four controllers, you've met one of them, she was fresh from Victory that day, complete with yellow enh and no damn inf to replace them (whos idea was that?!).
I was basically in Warburg as a testing ground for my respec initially by the way, which is why it was important to me to have some 1 on 1 matches, never mind though. -
Oh lord!
I'm sorry but someone HAS to say it.
Could your ego BE any bigger? Seriously, go to Icon and scale your head as large is it will go to match your persona! Once or twice in Bloody Bay I heard people in local chat saying what an egotistical t w a t you were tonight (thier words not mine).
On the one or two rare occasions that you haven't been surrounded by one or even two teams guarding your a s s I have taken you down, and thats as a blaster with a gimped I5 build, not respecced or even changed any slotting yet.
I have seen and spoken to several people over the last few days, who have said they wont bother to go to Warburg as its very boring to be lept apon every time they try to have a bit of fun there. Not everyone WANTS to be in a team, some like solo play, for gods sake the devs are trying thier hardest to force us into teams for PvE, we dont all want to be forced into teams just to enter a damn zone!
I enjoy a bit of PvP being a Quake/Unreal/MoH player, but when I'm in a 1 on 1 thats got bugger all to do with you and your cronies, and then I'm tped away, held and twatted every 30 seconds it gets very very dull, amusing for you I'm sure (small things...) but dull for me and everyone else you do it to.
So please, for the love of all things caped... Step away from the computer! Dont screw Warburg up before its had a chance to bloody well get going, because you are you know, it'll just be you and your men in tights on the beach before long, everyone else will avoid it like Michael Barrymoores swimming pool.
Oh, and while I'm ranting... I effin HATE "1337" speak. pwn (you dont even pwn the game mate), n00b, roxxors!!!on!!, all that [censored], bastardization of the English language. If this makes me sound old its probably cause I am, relatively speaking, which is probably why this whole issue has got up my nose, can't stand immaturity. Oh, bypassed the ZX80/81 btw, had an Atari 2600 (woodie) then my 1st proper computer was a TI/99.
/rant over
