Siren's Call - Bridgers Revenge. Footage Thread

The Villains were massing...

A call went out for heroes...

A call...to aid our beloved "leader", Bridger...

Heroes came by the score...

They amassed at the gates of Sirens Call


The battle began in earnest...

and raged...

and raged...

Bridger battled furiously....

Heroes fell...

...but they still they fought...

...and the tide turned in their favour...

...and the heroes took the fight to the villains own base!!

....until finally, after many hours of endless struggle...the evil Jawbreaker lay defeated!!

The thanks of all the people of Paragon City go out to the bravery and sacrifice of many heroes who battled ceaselessly in the name of honour, truth and justice!

Heroes....we salute you!!



On a less serious note, despite the lag, that was damn good fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it, both in my role of camerman and also when I finally gave into the call of battle.

For the record, the footage comes from all the different instances of Sirens Call, although 1 and 2 seemed to have the most goin on, usually

Im sure its been mentioned somewhere else, but Ill try:

Make a subdirectory called "client_demos" to your coh directory and copy the cohdemo-files there.
Then in the coh directory make a shortcut with the link
"C:\city of heroes\CityOfHeroes.exe" -demoplay x.cohdemo

Where you substitute your own city of heroes directory on the front and the cohdemo-file you want to watch in the place of x.cohdemo.
Then, when you are not running COH, clicking the shortcut should launch coh and play the demofile. Press Esc to exit the player iirc.

Well I personally didn't find it fun in the slightest- The lag at the gate was so huge, you could hardly move! (heal spams didn't help!) We then we into Siren's and again, lag by the lorry-load. I got to the point where you could hardly move, let alone target and attack. For this reason, I left after 10 mins.... I don't know how anyone could have found that fun...

I forgot the full instructions for how to view them disappeared with the forum wipe recently. If anyone has any problems with Hammers instructions, I'll post the full instructions again, if I cna find the orginal ones, I'm sure I have them buried on my drive somewhere

Well, as I said, i did, I had a whale of a time, flying round, filming it all and trying to avoid being atacked by villains who don't follow the rules about not attacking press before succumbing to the lure of battle and joining in at the end myself

There was some lag, true, but nowhere near as bad as a Hami raid and I enjoyed myself immensely, so again, thanks to Bridger and Rockjaw for the fun! (Even if Jawbreaker is a big sissy who hides in the base behind all the robot minions )

I can play all the other demo files (S4 footage), but when I try to play any of these I get an error... Something about 'Don't know how to play the file' or something like that. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Okay, couple of ideas, sorry if any of them sound obvious...

1. Daft question, i know, but start simple, you have unzipped the files into the client_demos folder, yeah?

2. I noticed Hammerfall puts .cohdemo at the end of his target line...I don't seems to work fine for me. Might make no difference, but could be worth a try?

Is the new shortcut in the CoH folder or on your desktop? Try it in the folder, see if that works?

The gathering in Steel worked nicely for me, as did the "heroes raiding the villain base" demo... the demo of Jaw faceplanting didn't though (and I didn't try the others) .

Ok, some weird stuff going on with these demos, I'm afraid.

I've noticed this happening before, sometimes the demo file doesn't record the data quite correctly and I need to edit the start line for it. SOrry for that, but they all worked fine for me first time round....go figure

Anyway, I edited the Jawbreaker one for you, Pvt.

Unzipped, but it's only 2 meg so shouldn't take long
