Quote:/signedI would like to purpose a second bar (or eve third) to store enhancement to bring the total to twenty (or thirty).
The new bar would not be available for storage while respecing (unless there was a change in policy) but would reduce storage management time while on very lucrative teams. -
Quote:At first glance, the observation of a developer "dogma" sticking to it seems to be in favor of the "developers will never change it" Yet how can you explain the introduction of all those portals, "short cuts" such as Ouroboros, Vanguard, Mission Transporter, Base Teleporters, and so forth?
At no point did the devs ever say they would never add new features that would make traveling between zones faster.
As to the rest of your rant, the devs have a reimbursement formula built into the respec feature that pays a fair amount for any enhancements over the 10 you can pull off of a build that aren't slotted. Unassigned origin (SO, DO, TO) enhancements are sold for their full purchase cost. Invention Enhancements are sold for the crafting cost. It isn't the devs fault if player "A" is stupid enough to go to the market and pay player "B" far too much for an item he didn't really need to play the game. -
Quote:True but the devs have said that they never promised that the AE rewards were going to be greater than or equal to the rewards you get from regular content. Just that it would be an alternate way of leveling. But that in turn implies compromise at the expense of the story and creative liberty.
Also, some players choose to run AE arcs for both the story and rewards. Lack of content to level on hasn't been a problem in CoX for a very long time, but its staleness has. The AE system addresses that problem and thus, running AE missions for both fun and profit should not be too much to ask for. If AE was intended to provide an outlet for storytelling alone, then rewards in any form would not have been implemented in the first place. -
Quote:You are incorrect. I did not accuse the OP of anything. I stated I enjoy all threads where someone complains about AE exploits being fixed. I don't care who did what or how the fix affects everything else. I just enjoy watching the forum drama unfold.but Forbin accused a person who explicitly talked about normal escorts of complaining about exploit fixes.
These threads are great entertainment.

If author's missions aren't about raking in as much rewards as possible then they have no reason to care if the rewards are lower. The fix didn't go in and change the story they are telling.
-
I love these threads. I get such a warm feeling when someone cries about AE exploits getting fixed.

Quote:How about acting like an adult and not throwing a hissy-fit over one server going down when you can still play on the other ten. If you are one of the people that chooses to limit yourself to a single server then you have only yourself to blame when you can't play on the rare occasions a server is down for scheduled maintenance. How about setting a goal of going a full DAY without Virtue and ONLY Virtue Server shutting down right in the middle of a mission, dumping us ignominously from the game? I'm sure it can be done.
Quote:Live Server Downtime - Tuesday, May 25th 2010

I'm gonna break my rule about not making a judgement based on reg date and say that since his reg date is June of 2009 it's probably unlikely that he's still on his trial account.

No. That would end up interfering with many base architects creativity when they are designing their rooms.

I thought
meant Reduce Endurance Cost and Enhance Endurance Modification.Quote:Recharge and Endred.
In any case you only listed 3 of the 5 powers that SB can be slotted with, and the one that people complain about on the forums is the Enhanced Running Speed -
They already do that. Respecs, and free character slots are given out as vet rewards.
-
-
Quote:You've forgotten Increase Attack Rate, and Enhance Running Speed. As far as I know, SB only takes Range, Recharge and Endred. That's the only things that would be possible to enhance.

The one people complain about the most is the increase to running speed.
Now I'm not trying to derail your thread by starting that old argument again (I actually like the idea), just pointing out that if someone chose that power to enhance using your suggestion it will upset the crowd that hates SB. -

Quote:This.Power customization: maybe one day, not a high priority now, deliberately not included due to the complexity and time requirements.
NPC Costumes: never say never, but probably not any time in the forseeable future.
Picking random powers that exist from anywhere, including critter, temp, and other powers: never. Just never going to happen. Too many issues to overcome, and too far outside the current purpose to the customization options that exist now. -
Quote:I feel the same as you, I was just offering another point of view for people to consider.Oh, I agree that some, even MANY might feel that way. But I despise being told how -I- feel about a certain situation.
-Rachel-
Some think the vets are acting like they are entitled.
Some think the entitlement issues are on the other end.
Some look at vet rewards as something to be earned.
Some look at them as the companies way of saying thanks for being loyal.
It's not a simple black and white disagreement between the haves and have not's. So the solution, if any is made, won't be simple.

Quote:Two things.
Time Subscribed is equal to money spent with the addendum of inflated perception of value (I spent X time "earning" something (while spending Y money) he should not be able to spend Z money without waiting X time)
And second: I've been playing since Issue 3 launched. And no. I would not mind one iota if this were implemented, tomorrow. I wouldn't spend $9.99 on any of the vet rewards (I've got more patience than wealth). But I wouldn't feel "Cheated" or put out. Just like I was -happy- they lowered the minimum level on EATs to 20. Sure I've got a 50 hero and 2 50 villains (one being a VEAT) but it doesn't cheapen my achievement for someone else t oget access to a toy I play with, too.
-Rachel-
I believe that what some people feel would be cheapened by changing things is the sentiment behind why the devs created the vet reward system in the first place.
The devs are telling us that hey you stuck by us thru the good times and the bad. You were here when things were at their worst and remained loyal. You gave us the chance to make things better when other people left. These perks are our way of saying thank you for sticking by our side.
Some people think that if the devs were to change things they are basically saying they didn't really mean they appreciated customer loyalty. -
Quote:The downside to this is I can see people deliberately turning Emp's into the hated Healorz at the sacrifice of the better buff powers. As Forbin said it's a neat idea but it's something that really needs to be built into the powers system from the get go. Trying to put it in at this point would be horrendous in terms of keeping it balanced.
Edit: And making SB even more offensive. You know there will be outrage over that. -
Quote:As much as I like the idea of destroying buildings I don't think it's feasible. There's also the teen rating to consider. Start "killing" people and it jumps to a mature rating. That is different. You don't get to break buildings and you are on a time limit. I mean have a bar that goes up when you destroy or kill enough people. Like the bars in Destroy all Humans, or Hulk. Just Cause have something like this too. Where to bar is green, then yellow, then orange, then red. And it only goes down if you run and stop fighting or die.
The Mayhems don't make cops come then longbows, then army men,. It is only Cops and Longbows
and the Hero only comes if you steal the money
I know it's semantics but no one actually dies in the game. They get "arrested" or go to the hospital. -
I don't think it's feasible, but I don't dislike the concept. A character could be really good at one thing but part of the balance is he is suffering in other areas.

Quote:Only problem with that is that people will still choose to ignore them.Wouldn't it be interesting if you pick up an NPC Hero/Villain that shows you the ropes in a way. Or have NPC's speak out when you pass them.
For example Hero X/Villain X "Hey $Name Don't forget you are going to need to improve your powers with Enhancements. you might want to read about them here just click on the billboard"
Hero Y/Villain Y "You know you can get a temporary boost to your powers with inspirations. Yeah charge into battle and use a few Inspirations to get a rush of power or what ever you need. Read more about them here."
I'm one of those people that jumps in and figures out how to play by just doing it and initially ignores the written text. Hell it took me a year to realize I didn't have to run all the way back to the mission entrance in order to exit a completed mission. I had a good laugh at myself for not figuring that out sooner.
