I will simply note that the expression "War is Hell" has been diluted--- war is every horror imaginable to the greatest measure, like Hell itself, which is why it should be avoided whenever possible.

It was offered to George Washington to become King, and he refused, which is more pertinent to the topic at hand. He also declined to serve more than two terms as President, though he likely could have served as long as he had desired. He was not perfect, nor did he do everything right, but he did so much so well that he has also been called "the Indispensible Man," without whom our democratic republic would have foundered.

To the point, Washington led the nation through a time of mortal perils and did not establish himself as a dictator, although he could have. In Praetoria, Marcus Cole did become such a dictator.

Fortunately for all of us, Cole is a fictitious character and Washington was not.
    Thanks for responding.

The point I'm making by bringing up that aspect of G.W.'s past is that even our enlightened government doesn't have clean hands so to speak. Even tho we like to portray our founding father's in a benevolent aspect, it's not actually factual. They did what had to be done and sometimes those things were pretty ugly.

If we were to look at just the bad things our own government has done since it's conception I'd say it's record is at least as bad as Emperor Cole's.

Mac edition gives another month of game time plus everything from the Valkyrie pack (which woulda been another separate $10 purchase), and AE gives yet another month of time plus your choice of either the magic or cyborg booster pack (not martial arts, mutant, or science though.)

So if you have not applied any of those codes to your account yet, those are worth looking into. Come to think of it, those all seem to be net negative cost.

Savvy shoppers can buy copies even cheaper than that by checking out what's available on Amazon. I've picked up copies as gifts for as low as $5. (S&H included), of course I am careful to check the description to make sure it says something about the factory seal being intact.

SG's are about building bases for transportation? And here I've been joining SG's for 6 years for the ease they bring when I want to team up with other players and run missions, Task Forces, zone events, and social gatherings.

I wish someone had told us that SG's were only tools for base building years ago so I wouldn't have wasted my time making all those friends I met in the various supergroups.

Yep. The only thing annoying about them is that they don't have cell phones. I'd give one of Je Saists eyeteeth to be able to call them and accept/decline a safeguard/mayhem mission.

Nice touch. Quoting the guy that according to some historians was called the Town Destroyer by the Seneca Indians because in 1779 he sent Major General John Sullivan to conduct a scorched earth campaign against the four nations of the Iroquois which destroyed over 40 of their villages during the Revolutionary War. The devastation created great hardships for the thousands of Iroquois refugees outside Fort Niagara that winter, and many starved or froze to death.
  7. Sure the devs could make an Illusion set for Masterminds but it won't be a control set when they get thru with it. Be much easier to give Dominators Illusion Control.

I don't understand why velocity would translate thru from the point of origin to the point of destination. Even if a person is standing still on a planet, the planet itself is travelling at it's own velocity in addition to spinning on it's axis while the starship is travelling at a different velocity in order to maintain orbit over the planet. If they didn't have a way to circumvent/neutralize the differences in velocity would fly off and splatter against a bulkhead.

    For me, it was:
1 MM from Freedom to Infinity
1 Bane back to Virtue (original home, and to free a slot)
2 Character Renames (made someone with the same name on Freedom, since I have *plenty* of slots there, then moved back to rename.)

I definitely used them more the first time around.
I used the release of Going Rogue and the free server transfers as an excuse to do a spring cleaning on all of the servers on all of my accounts. First I went thru each of my characters and decided who to keep, who to delete, and who to remake on my main account. Then I organized the remaining (unattached) characters into 11 groups. Then I started transfering characters around to their new home servers. It took me around 50 transfers to get everyone where I wanted them, and I only had to make two renames.

After all that I'm down to a lean 70 characters on my main account and I now have new personal SG's on every server, including Freedom where I shoved all the alts I've stopped playing but I'm unwilling to delete.

Now, it may be my friend and how he plays, but I get to watch what he's doing literally all the time when he plays, and almost the only time I ever see him team is either in instances or battlegrounds, both of which he joins via auto-team. The rest of the time when he's roaming the lands, he's basically solo doing Lord know what. I gave up on trying to figure out that game's questing system.

So what I'm saying is that, end game or no end game, WoW seems to have stopped being about precision-orchestrated encounters with Rick Flair as your team leader and more about a semi-random mash-up of willing volunteers that go with what they have. I wouldn't mind a system like that here, to be honest.
As long as they allow players the option of opting out of automatic team building I have no objection. I've played in other MMO's that have similar systems and the feature seems to attract a lot of people that join missions and then sit at the entrance waiting to collect the mission completion bonus while other players do all the work.

but once again that is just a suspension moment that we aren't supposed to worry about. the spatial relation stuff is clearly a pet peeve due to your job so its going to bother you no matter what kind of movie it is in.

thanks for the civil and fun debate.
Why would they suddenly start explaining something like that when they never have in the past? I can recall more than one example where someone was beamed up to the ship while in one position (like sitting) and arrived in the transporter room standing up. If they aren't going to explain that why bother with something like comparative velocities.

Absolutely not. As someone that has served in the Navy on ships of similar size to the fictional Enterprise I can say for a fact it only takes a minute or two to get from the Bridge to the engine room and I didn't have turbolifts speeding me on my way.

I have to agree with the Foo on this. That movie rekindled the spark TOS started. Before that the only good movie was Khan. TNG, much like the second Highlander movie was a heaping pile of guano that never happened. DS9 was only watchable after they decided to follow in the steps of Babylon 5 and have a plot that lasted more than two episodes. Finally the only thing worth watching on Hooter Trek was Jeri Ryan's bewbs.

If this is about the use of three different credit cards in one week then they probably flagged your entire master account including the credit card information.

The only way to be sure is to call. I hope it's something that can be easily straightened out for you.

As to my use of the caps lock, it obviously worked because you had no problem understand the point I was emphasizing.

    Good luck on this issue.

Let's see If I see a guy that can pick up boulder and throw it at me. A boulder that apparently has a homing device because the damn thing follows me after I move out of it's trajectory, even around corners. Then I'm pretty sure that I'd think the safest place for me to go would be as close to the guy throwing the boulder as possible.

    Why?

    Because I'm hoping that

    a. Pretty boy won't try throwing homing boulders at me when I'm right next to him.

    b. Or I can dodge at the last instant and let the boulder smash pretty boy in the face.

I've seen enough of those damn cartoons to know that the coyote never manages to get safely away from the boulder chasing him.

    HELL YES IT'S TOO MANY!!!

That's what credit card fraud is, using other peoples cards to buy stuff.

A company with an online store can't investigate every charge and verify that each purchase is being made by the owner of the cardholder or has their permission to make the purchase. The retailer can only program their system to give warnings and flag the account where suspicious purchases occur.

AND PURCHASES USING THREE DIFFERENT CREDIT CARDS, OWNED BY THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN A WEEK IS DEFINITELY SUSPICIOUS!!!

Assuming this is the problem, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what flagged your account with NCSoft. You should call up billing on Monday if this still hasn't cleared up by then.

Why wait till Monday? Because no one works in billing on weekends.

  19. Jayne!

    The Man they call Jayne!
Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
    Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
    Our love for him now
    ain't hard to explain.
    The hero of Canton
    the man they call Jayne.

Our Jayne saw the mudders' backs breakin'.
    He saw the mudders' lament.
And he saw the Magistrate takin'
every dollar and leavin' five cents.
So he said: "You can't do that to my people."
said "You can't crush them under your heel."
So Jayne strapped on his hat
    and in 5 seconds flat
stole everythin' Boss Higgins had to steal.

Oh, He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
    Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
    Our love for him now
    ain't hard to explain.
    The hero of Canton
    the man they call Jayne.

Now here is what separates heroes
from common folk like you and I.
    The man they call Jayne
    he turned 'round his plane
and let that money hit sky.

He dropped it onto our houses
he dropped it into our yards.
    The man they called Jayne
    he stole away our pain
and headed out for the stars!

    (Here we go!)

    He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
    Stood up to the man
and he gave him what for.
    Our love for him now
    ain't hard to explain.

  20. Just finished teaming with Kelron in Praetoria.

He is a nice guy and a good team player. I look forward to running with him again. I highly recommend him to any SG/Global network if and when he activates his account.

I see that I forgot that the Global Friends is one of the things restricted on trial accounts. Sorry I forgot about that Kelron. My bad for wasting that time.

As I said online I look forward to teaming with you in the future.

  22. If the store is down and not taking orders what do you expect other players to do? Check in occasionally and eventually the store will be back up and you can make your purchase.

You also may want to check your account information and verify that you haven't exceeded the account spending limit.

They also have limits on their end in order to prevent fraudulent charges. Some parts of the world are rife with credit card fraud. Every time a fraudulent chargeback occurs it costs NSoft a penalty fee. They try to keep those from happening.

I do play on Virtue a lot, however the times I'm on are irregular and at various hours. I've got a back disability and sometimes I'm on for a couple hours and others just a few minutes depending on how my back feels.

My global is @bio hazard and I'd be happy to answer questions but I'm far from the most knowledgeable player. Theres a lot I haven't picked up. The Repeat Offenders that Fleeting Whisper mentioned is a great group of players, some of whom are on Virtue. Another great group is the gang at Cape Radio

    Cape Radio

They are also on Virtue and their DJ's run a online station that plays music for players to listen to while playing City of Heroes.

The only downside to this is that to join either group you'll need to get an active account. Pesky trial restrictions again.

Once your up and ready to run your NA trial account why don't you send me a PM here on the forums and we can set up a time and place to meet in game and chat. I'm sure others would be willing to do the same thing.

To send a private message on the forums just move your mouse over to the persons name on the left and left click, that will open a drop down menu and the second option is to send a private message to that person.

I'm not entirely sure if it's just the expansion or the full game + expansion, but "complete collection" sounds like a complete collection.

One unusual thing they've done with the Going Rogue Edition is that all new players have to make their first character in Praetoria instead of choosing a straight hero or villain.

They did this so they can showcase all the new content to new customers. Once you reach level 20 you can pick hero or villain. But on a trial you will get to choose between any of the three factions.

Personally don't know of any torrents or work arounds to speed up downloading.

    Anyone else?
