I suspect if there's even a possibility that this feature could be used this way the Devs would never be interested in allowing it. Whether or not it'd be hard to code this functionality is hardly the "problem" with this. *shrugs*
Even tho I like the idea this was the first thing that came to mind when I asked myself how it might be abused.

    Leveling Pact

    Overview

A new feature introduced in Issue 13 and an innovation to MMORPGs, this system allows two players to create new characters (or use existing low-level characters) and have their experience be permanently synced, whether or not both characters are online. They will always be the same level, even if one pactmate plays ten times more often than the other.
    Creation

A pact can only be created between characters who are Level 5 and under. To begin a pact, a player right-clicks on their intended pactmate and chooses Invite to Leveling Pact.

This creates a special Friends List subsection labeled Leveling Pact. The following options are found there:

A list containing the player's character name and their pactmate's character name.

A button labeled Leave Pact which will break the Leveling Pact.

Characters may join and remain in leveling pacts regardless of alignment.

    Details

All sources of experience - glowie clicks, critter defeats, Mission/Story Arc completion, etc - are split between pactmates. Any modifiers (Debt or Patrol XP) to the XP is applied before it is split. Sharing of experience may be delayed briefly.

If the two in the pact do not have the same experience, as can be the case at the creation of a leveling pact when, for example, a level 4 character gets leveling pacted with a level 1 character, then the higher level character will receive no experience and the lower level character receive all the experience until they catch up to the same level.

    Influence/Infamy is always evenly split.

Item drops (enhancements, inspirations, etc.), and Prestige are not split.

If a player goes into debt while pacted, they will earn less experience for the pact until their debt is paid off. The experience gained from their pactmate is not used to pay off debt.

Pactmates do not need to be on at the same time, or even on the same team, or any team at all, for their experience to go toward their partner. If one player is Exemplared/Malefactored, they will not earn experience for the pact. However, they will still receive half of their partner's experience.

If one player has turned off experience earning in options, they will not earn experience for the pact. However, the experience earned by their partner will go into a "bank" of sorts, and will be awarded when the player turns experience earning back on, bringing the character up to their partner's experience level.

Renaming a character will not break the pact.

    Quitting

Players can break a Leveling Pact at any time by:

clicking the Leave Pact button mentioned above in the Friends List subsection

right-clicking on their pactmate and selecting Leave Pact; or

    using the /unlevelingpact slash command.

In all cases players will be asked to confirm that they want to break the leveling pact. However, if their characters are above level 5, they cannot re-create the pact or join a new one.

Additionally, a leveling pact will be broken automatically if one or both members move to another server, or if one of the accounts becomes inactive.

First off I like the idea so /signed

Slightly off topic about the simplicity of the idea. Sharker brings up a valid point about coding. Please refrain from making statements that something is simple or easy. Unless you actually work for Paragon Studios you have no idea if this would be easy or hard to code.

Our devs are pretty good about putting the "easy" stuff in the game as long as it isn't unbalancing. So if it's not in the game yet they probably have a good reason which can be anything from it's not as easy as we think to it may be something they don't want to allow.

There's no need to go out of the way to alter the basic workings of the power with unused tech (making inactive until a specific mission is collected) or altering the mission in any way.
The temp power comes with 50 charges. You only need to complete 20 charges to complete the mission. The power already has an excellent surplus of charges.

The only thing that needs to be changed is to make the mission droppable. Of course if the mission gets auto completed the player shouldn't be eligible to get the badge that comes with it since they never actually "cured" any of the Lost.

As it was already pointed out previously Archery already allows you to swap out your ammo.

    It has

    1. Regular arrows
    2. Blazing Arrows
    3. Explosive Arrows
    4. Stunning Arrows

And if you take Trick Arrow as your secondary you can further swap out your ammo

    1. Entangling Arrow
    2. Flash Arrow
    3. Glue Arrow
    4. Ice Arrow
    5. Poison Gas Arrow
    6. Acid Arrow
    7. Disruption Arrow
    8. Oil Slick Arrow
    9. EMP Arrow

    Halloween Mobs

Last time I did any TF was either the ITF for the costumes. Once was enough and I haven't done any since.
  13. The bots hands were creeping me out. It looked like they were stuck on as an afterthought.

    Halloween Mobs

My level 50 was getting 1 shotted by Vampires and Crones when ToTing. The GM's haven't been able to one shot me. I stuck it out in order to get the new accolade for that character but that's it. I'm ignoring the rest of this event and doing regular content.
  15. As I've said several times in the past, if they want to have fancy costume sets given out as a reward for TF's then at least give us a plain, generic version we can use when we create a character. It won't detract from the reward because people will still want to get the fancy one because it looks so much better.

That was only a few posts back, man.
I also said a few posts back that they can keep those costumes as part of the reward just give us a plain generic version that we can use at level 1. Doing so won't take anything away from the achievement. In fact when seen side by side the differences between the costumes will be even more noticable.

We already get something that marks our achievments in the game. They are called Badges. We also get game affecting rewards for some of those achievements. Thay are called Accolades. So there's no real justification for including costume pieces as part of the rewards.
  18. You guys are assuming that that thing is really Chloe. The real Chloe could still be a prisoner aboard the alien ship, and what's on Destiny is some sort of replicant/clone/doppleganger. The aliens have the ability to hijack the stones so they may also be able to swap consciences with the real Chloe and their alien spy on the Destiny.

Yes, I really do want some things to be a bit easier for players, travel and navigation being big items on my list, and this seems to be a means to accomplish that.
You are right base teleports don't encompass both factions, so travel is limited in that manner. But the simpler solution to that problem is to lift the restriction that prevents SG's from placing and using the other factions terleports.

It would be much simpler for the devs to put a flag on characters so hereos can only use hero teleports, Villains the reverse, and Vig's & Rogue's can use all.

I know it's possible because once (couple of years ago) I was on a cross faction team as a villain and when I died I was given a choice of which base I wanted to rez in. I chose and found myself in the hero base. I couldn't use anything because I wasn't flagged as a hero. All I could do was exit at the base entrance.

I also know for a fact it's a simple issue of changing how those base items are flagged for use because about a year ago there was a badge bug that unlocked all of the SG badges for bases and I was able to craft and place several Villain only base items in my base. One of the things I tried placing was the villain beacons. When I realized I couldn't use them I deleted them and used the badly needed prestige for other things.

Had I known the day would come when we had sideswitching, I would have made some sacrifices and bought all the villain beacons and kept them on the side. As a consolation I may be one of the very few people who currently has those sweet Arachnos pop up missle turrets in his Hero base as proof we could easily have access to and use both sides equipment.

Chase, BrandX. Let's forget for a moment that the devs have refused this idea, and just look at the two ideas suggested here. Which do you honestly think would be the most likely to be implemented.

A complicated redesign of the respec system so a player can keep a handful of badges?

    Or

Simply making those same badges account based rather than character based.

Then why do you insist on responding that way whenever anyone disagrees with you?

The truth of the matter is that we don't need multiple SG memberships. Smaller groups of players use Coalitions to stay in touch while larger groups use Global channels to socialize. Not only are the global channels cross faction, they are also cross server. So up to 2,500 players can chat and coordinate events anywhere in the game on each global channel. And each account can join 10 global channels. That means each player can have access to a community of up to 25,000 different people.

If the issue is about getting access to different bases, there's nothing players need access to multiple bases for.

5 years ago bases were vital to fast transportation. Today it can take longer to use a bases teleports for transportation than it takes a player to use one of the other teleport alternatives. Mission teleport, Team teleport, went/BM teleport, Praetorian Underground teleport, Oroborous portal, RWZ transport hub, Pocket D transport hub, Midnighters Club transport hub, Train's, Ferry's, Blackline helicopter. And when I19 is released the Trains and Ferry's will go to all stops. We won't have to switch anymore.

If the issue is about storage, now that we can send things via email each player can easily store far more items on his/her various characters than any base can hold. Each character can hold up to 10 enhancements, 20 inspirations, 25 recipes, 85 IO salvage, 396 Halloween salvage, 9,999 Candy Cane Salvage, with another 50 assorted salvage in the Vault. On top of all that players can also store enhancements, inspirations, recipes, and salvage in up to 22 of their Consignment House transaction slots. Recipes and salvage can be stored in stacks of 10.

Multiply that by up to 396 characters and add another 20 items that can be stored in emails. Players can also choose to store extra enhancements in a second build on each character and pull them off with any one of the many respecs available in the game.

SG's on the other hand are limited to 18 storage bins. They can hold a minimum of 540 assorted salvage or 1800 assorted enhancements/inspirations which, unless it's a solo SG, is shared with as many as 150 players.

I'm not holding a gun to your head making you read it or waste your time carefully wording a hostile and spiteful response to "not read as a personal attack". This response is a perfect example of what I said in my first response.

    Quote:
The only people that get hostile in these threads are the people that don't want to accept that the devs aren't going to implement this idea.
The OP has become upset at the number of people disagreeing with his suggestion and has resorted to demanding they not post in this thread, and accusing everyone that explained why his idea won't be implemented of being 'hostile' and 'spiteful'. He even unintentionally admits his accusations are baseless when he claims all the disagreeing responses were carefully worded not to read as a personal attack.

As to the OP's statement that he wants constructive input. it appears that isn't true. In his first post he made it clear that the core reason for his suggestion was about irreplaceable badges.

    Quote:
have irreplaceable badges that we want to keep, but have had new powersets (and even archtypes) come out since those pre-1st Anniversary characters were made that may fit our originally desired concept better than our original choices
A much simpler solution was suggested that would allow people to keep those irreplaceable badges rather than tearing apart the respec feature and redesigning it from the ground up.

    Quote:
    Primordia_Vox
I think a more realistic version of this would be to simply allow certain badges, such as anniversary badges, to be account wide instead of just that toon
And yet the OP has ignored that solution. This leads me to believe that the OP doesn't really care about the badges. Instead this is really about him not wanting to create alts, and unfortunately for him, that is what the game is all about. Making your own versions of all the super heroes you grew up on and living out those fantasies. It's why we can make up to 396 different characters on an account.

So I'm sorry you are frustrated about this situation Starhammer, but your just going to have to deal with it. However if it makes you feel better to demonize your fellow players and portray us as the bad guys, go right ahead. The fact still remains that the Devs are the ones that have flat out said NO.

Don't be discouraged because this one idea won't be implemented. Not every idea is a homerun. Keep trying and maybe the next idea or the one after that will be something that has a chance of being added to the game. Some of the things we've seen suggested have taken as long as 4, 5 and even 6 years to go into the game.

Here's the problem I have with costumes tied to achievements. If I have a character concept that works best with a costume then I want to use it from the moment I create the character.

I don't want to wait until the character has level up over 3 fifths of his career before I get to use it.

I don't want to wait a year until the next holiday event arrives so I can unlock it.

I don't want to wait "x" months until I've earned enough vet rewards to get the costume.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind having a fancy costume set tied to these types of rewards, but I do want an average version that I can use at the point where I'm creating a character.

Give us a plain set of Roman armor, Samurai Armor, etc. and leave the fancy looking stuff as the rewards. That way I can enjoy the basic concept and upgrade it to the fancy costume pieces when I unlock them.

As someone else has said you can drop radio/newspapaer missions. And when you get high enough you can drop the repeatable missions from Borea in RWZ and that guy in Cimerora.

The thing to remember is that Borea offers two types of missions. The top one can be dropped and will also get you a vanguard merit automatically. The bottom one is always a timed mission. I think it works the same way with the Cimerora contact.

Oh and don't forget you can max out your difficulty sliders to get a larger mission completion bonus.
