Pets Request
that would be awesome, besides, a mastermind should be able to tell his or her minions what to do.
A wonderful idea, I am surprised this thread hasn't had more traffic.
i wouldn't pretend you know how hard or easy it would be to code something.
/unsigned.
First off I like the idea so /signed
Slightly off topic about the simplicity of the idea. Sharker brings up a valid point about coding. Please refrain from making statements that something is simple or easy. Unless you actually work for Paragon Studios you have no idea if this would be easy or hard to code.
Our devs are pretty good about putting the "easy" stuff in the game as long as it isn't unbalancing. So if it's not in the game yet they probably have a good reason which can be anything from it's not as easy as we think to it may be something they don't want to allow.

... that's about all I have to say; two people already addressed the standard code rant.
Even just the ability to target though another character, the same as we can do, would be a boon.
This doesn't sound too bad assuming the "ally" you're targeting through is another human player on your team. But it almost sounds like this might be something that would allow a single player to indirectly bot with pets. The ally (which could be a second character being run by the Mastermind) would effectively gain the benefit of having an army of pets to help him while the actual Mastermind could safely door-camp.
I suspect if there's even a possibility that this feature could be used this way the Devs would never be interested in allowing it. Whether or not it'd be hard to code this functionality is hardly the "problem" with this. *shrugs*

Also there are some missions where you have to protect an ally and this would make things easier.

Target through, sure. If I'm doing so (either through - well, targeting through them, or buffing them,) it would be nice if they would.
Follow, I'm not so sure about. From the pet side, they become much weaker as they get out of Supremacy range (even ignoring leadership buffs, etc.) Player-wise... yeah, I'm just not so sure about that.

Hey, you could have all of your pets target through each other in a big circle. heh.
Abuse is one of the things that is considered but I believe that most NPC allies will remain with the player unless you get into a situation where the mobs are close enough together to aggro on the NPC or vice versa. Something that doesn't happen often in missions. Also MM pets currently get teleported back to their master when they get past a certain range. You could avoid the door camping scenario by lowering that range inside missions or even just simply disallow following or targeting through NPCs.

also, if an MM did target a teammate and have his pets follow them, then door camp, the pets would die quickly, and there is a current 'set to follow range' currently it's for attacking an enemy, at a certain distance away from your target your pets will give the 'invalid target, entering aggressive mode' signal.
also pets probably wont follow other players up elevators ETC. so there are limitations to the door camping scenario which doesn't allow such abuse to be used 100% of the time, in fact I'd say it's usable 40% of the time or less.
ok this is a simple request that will only take a bit of coding and the addition of one new pet control button for masterminds.
I would like to request the ability to make your mastermind pets follow an ally and target through that ally.
as I said a simple request could be done with a new pet control button, for example you select an ally's name or their character and then hit a [all follow friend] or [pet group follow friend] or [pet name follow friend] button to tell your pets whom to follow.
