Thanks, Zombie. I've also added a hypothesis to my guide as well. Unfortunately, I can't test it. If anyone has some purchases but not others, I'd appreciate the help.
Known:
Badge A B means "A or B"
Hypothesis:
Badge A
Badge B means "A and B"
(Same for authbit)
If the hypothesis is true, the implication is that you could mix Badge and Authbit, as well. IF you have GR AND you've done the Hess TF, THEN you're allowed to execute command XYZ. -

Today I tried logging in to the character I made previously while in safe mode. I did not crash immediately, so I opened up my options to load my default window and chat settings. I loaded my window settings fine, but then it crashed before I could load my chat settings.
Yes, it's still a crash before I could really do anything, but that's longer in-game than I've had before outside of safe mode. The only change has been moving to a new network. -

1. What's the exact error you get when you try to direct it to your existing folder?
2. Where do you have the game installed to? -
Quote:Addiction is a positive feedback loop; in some cases, there is also negative feedback for trying to quit.Yes, except that Gambling addiction has nothing to do with your brain exploding or addictive chemicals being introduced to your system. How is this a hard concept to understand?
Emotions are basically just chemicals your body produces rushing through your brain, such as endogenous morphine (endorphin). A gambling addict is not addicted to the gambling itself, but to the endorphins produced by his brain when he gambles. This is how some addicts will "quit" one addiction by substituting a different one. You might swap from gambling to running, and still be addicted to the same chemicals produced by your own body. -
Quote:That's basically true as far as the cause for Alzheimer's goes, but how different is that from, for example, a stroke? (And no, alcohol is not required for a stroke.) Both are neurological problems caused by physical changes to the brain, not directly related to the operation of brain cells.Alzheimer's is not a mental disease, your brain is literally rotting away, as I understand it.
What about, say, apraxia (loss of the ability to perform learned movements -- most commonly caused by brain trauma)? Apraxia can be overcome with physical therapy, just like nicotine addiction can be overcome through nicotine replacement therapy, and something like gambling addiction can be overcome with behavioral therapy. All of them can be overcome, but it's rarely a simple process. (Additionally, all three examples above carry the risk of relapse.) -
Quote:If you want the other 3 desktop skins you're supposed to get, continue sending emails to customer service. They should start sending your ticket up through the chain of command until you reach someone willing and able to actually help you.Well, we got our codes...and learned that they are only sending 1 mousepad even though we ordered 4 copies (two people in house getting 2 copies of the game on one order). And pretty much "tough luck, we're running low, so you only get 1".
I didn't even get my one desktop skin until I ******* at their customer service, then I had to ***** at them about my enhancements code to get that. It's a hassle, but I recommend you keep pushing them to give you what you were promised.
On another note, I tried using my $5 coupon at the Razer store and it didn't work. One email to the Razer customer service (email sent at 1:17 am: "...My code, which fails to work, is XXXXXX. If possible, I would appreciate a more detailed explanation of why my coupon is "invalid"...."), and I got a reply (1:46 am) saying: "...I ran a check on the code and it seems that the guys in charge forgot to create it. Can you please try again with the code and let me know if it works now?...". Tried it, and my code worked perfectly. So, two thumbs up for Razer customer service, one thumb down for Razer store management. -
Quote:Psychopathy and Sociopathy: Together these are "Antisocial Personality Disorder". It does not mean "evil", and in fact many cases are entirely self-destructive. Most commonly, the patient is simply incapable of expressing emotion or empathizing with other individuals. The following are the only legitimate mental disorders, every other is just an excuse to enable bad behavior:
Schizophrenia (and it's little brother, paranoia)
Multiple Personalities
Psychopathy and Sociopathy (i.e., being EVIL)
Retardation
REAL Bipolar Disorder (as in, uncontrollable rage followed by attempted suicide, not just using it as an excuse to be a weepy wuss and a huge jerk in the same sentence)
That's it. I do not believe in any other mental disorders. At all. Citing them does nothing against my argument because my argument is that they are not real.
Bipolar Disorder: Manic episodes are not the same thing as rage. While a manic episode for some patients may be interpreted as rage by others, manic episodes may be things like irritation, loss of proper judgment (like spending sprees they can't afford), delusions of being "chosen" (or similar), and they may begin substance abuse during manic episodes which they don't continue when in a normal or depressed state. A manic episode may even seem to be a simple sugar/caffeine high. A depressive episode doesn't make a patient suicidal, either - it can manifest as shyness, lack of motivation, general depression, and more.
I'm sure you dismiss dyslexia as a fictional disease. However, it's a real neurological dysfunction. (There are also people with trouble actually seeing/hearing the words, and people who were not properly taught the words; that's not dyslexia.) The same applies to dyscalculia, a problem similar to dyslexia but which applies to mathematics.
And what about Alzheimer's disease? I can remember as my grandfather on his bed, when his wife of more than 60 years walked in, he didn't even know who she was.
You might be able to make a convincing argument that medicines for ADD/ADHD are over-prescribed, but that doesn't make them fictional disorders.
There are scores of other neurological conditions which don't fit in your list. Some are genetic or congenital, others are caused by chemicals added to the body or physical damage, and still others are apparently random happenstance as far as our science knows. -
Well, it really just means "exit the mission, but we're not giving you an exit button". Ouroboros portals, base teleporters, and market teleporters work just as well.

Quote:That's an extremely naive viewpoint. Sure, there are people who can quit smoking cold turkey. But true addiction creates a physical dependence on the substance or behavior. In some cases, forcibly ceasing the addiction (through willpower or intervention) can actually be hazardous.Humans have this thing called "free will", and nothing trumps it. Nothing.
While my comment about being addicted to air was a joke, the point isn't completely off the mark. Someone with an addiction does, in fact, create real dependencies that you can't simply will away. A smoker may have the will to throw away his pack of cigs, but that doesn't fix the alterations his brain has made which require the chemicals from the cigarettes to continue to function.
Fuzzy Kitten's post was excellent on the subject of the addictions. I agree that the game or the casino isn't at fault for the behavioral addiction of the customer*, but the addict can't necessarily "just say no". Yes, the lawsuit should be thrown out, but the addict deserves appropriate treatment, as well.
* Producers of products containing known psychoactive substances are another matter, in my mind. -
I'm gonna buck the trend and say my favorite villainous lair is the Mound of Forgotten Seeds run by the Dowager of the Irreverent Vulgate in Unrent Veils. (Source: Exalted tabletop RPG)
The Mound of Forgotten Seeds is based in Noss Fens, somewhere in the East.
Static Defenses: None to speak of. Most of the humans living in Noss Fens were raised by the Dowager, but they're simple peasants. (Every decade or so, the Dowager kills the adults in Noss Fens, raises the children, and sends them back to rebuild their villages.)
Active Defenses: None to speak of, though the Dowager is an expert marksman with her soulsteel bow "Root of Scorn". Anyone killed with her bow becomes a ghost bound as her servant. She's also a skilled necromancer and necrosurgeon.
Guardians: A single female child, Shoat of the Mire. An Abyssal Exalted serving the Dowager. When Shoat dies, the Dowager exalts another female child and gives her the same title.
Natural Hazards: The Well of Udr lies within the Dowager's throne room. Even being near it can drive you insane, and looking into it can kill you. (The Dowager and her servants, of course, enjoy protections from its effects.) The Well is a connection point between every universe, and the Dowager spends her time searching the Well for devastation she can unleash upon the world. -
Quote:Damn, son. My friends show up unannounced and get fed pretty much anything in the house that they want to eat. Sometimes we even have near-gourmet level food available. >.>I do have a "show up at my place unannounced and the next place you'll be checking into is the Intensive Care Ward" rule.
My friends enjoy coming over to our house. -
Quote:True. An extremely good example of addiction to a non-psychoactive substance is addiction to pain. It's basically the definition of masochism. It's not as simple as that. Lots of recognised addictions don't involve any 'addictive substances'. Gambling, shopping, stealing, sex, ...
In other news, I have a confession to make. I am addicted to air, and I need all of you to give me an intervention. -
In addition to live video recording (Fraps is one option), you can also record a demo of your play session to record later (demos will be without the user interface, and it's possible to modify the demo as you like).

I'd love that. A few weeks after adding something, I have no idea which is which.

The queue system was added last double XP weekend.
Edit: I should say "for last double XP weekend", since I'm not certain when the actual patch was. Specifically, before the queue was added, Freedom and sometimes Virtue players would get locked out of their server during double XP. Before the server lockout was added, those servers would either lag players to death/logoff, or crash. Regardless, the queue is not a part of GR/I18, this is merely a surge of popularity making the queue system noticeable. -

Quote:Someone else already mentioned that you can't slot either Pet Damage or Recharge Intensive Pet sets in Dark Servant. However, your second question here hasn't been answered.i was wondering too if slotting one of those in dark miasma pet is a good idea for a MM.
it would benefit to all his other pet no?
The four pet aura IOs don't actually do anything to the pet. What they do is grant YOU an extra auto power. This auto power is a PBAoE buff which affects all of your pets, including pets from temporary powers and allies you pick up in a mission. The buff is 40ft radius and requires line-of-sight.
Additionally, you don't even have to summon the pet which the IO is slotted in to get its effect. I have both RIP auras slotted in my Gang War power on my Thugs/Dark, and I get their benefit even if I never activate Gang War. -
As far as I know, the in-program updater does not function correctly. Download the installer from cohplanner.com and run it as an administrator.

I got my CoV CE at Half Price Books for about $20. I bought my CoH CE from Amazon, but mine was around $80, not $115. Amazon's price changes; I've checked on behalf of other people several times since getting my copy, and I've seen CoH CE on Amazon range from $50 to $150.
