How are you video taping in gaming sessions?

I want to record some of my fun inside of CoH. I see video all over the internet with people recording gaming sessions. How can I do this?

In addition to live video recording (Fraps is one option), you can also record a demo of your play session to record later (demos will be without the user interface, and it's possible to modify the demo as you like).

How much load does this generate on the server? If I have team of 8 can all record at the same time?

These are client-side recording options, they generate no additional server-load. The load bottleneck will occur on your video card probably (For FRAPS) , and depending on your system specs *may* get a little choppy if your video settings are on the high side, therefore if your videos or gameplay get choppy, turn your settings down and give it another go.

Will second FRAPS. The demo does (or used to) have a 30 second limit and some branding (www.fraps.com) at the top.

In fact, you can use the two (Fraps and demorecord) together - if you don't want it capturing your UI (power trays, etc.) do /demorecord demoname, then play back the demo while recording with FRAPS.

Note FRAPS makes *large* video files - once you finish, run them through a video editor (which you'll probably want to do anyway) - anything from Windows Movie Maker to higher end stuff - Dark_Respite I believe uses Sony's software - and it'll usually compress to a smaller size. (Search on her name, or just browse the multimedia section - she has a presentation from herocon a few years back that gives an overview of making these.)
