I certainly wish they would say Go Back to Entrance, or something else that does not intimate that there is something you currently do not know about that you must "find." But since when do the Devs listen to me?

Well, it really just means "exit the mission, but we're not giving you an exit button". Ouroboros portals, base teleporters, and market teleporters work just as well.

You can also just type /leaveteam (if you're solo) to exit the mission.

There is one mission that says "Find the Mission Exit" and my team doubled back to the entrance. I pushed ahead and found another exit, which put me right at the Homeless Man who was the next part of the arc.

These Find Mission Exits are a pain if you have a combat NPC with you. I can usually sneak out fine, but the stupid NPCs insists on fighting everything.
Teams are the number one killer of soloists.
