Brawndo... Plants need it. *nodnod*
Sorry, I couldn't help myself. -
Quote:So there have been 3 waves so far and a 4th later this week? Or there will be 3 altogether and one of those will be later this week?Updates on Issue 16 Closed Beta (as of 8/11/2009):
- We have extended invites to three waves of Beta Testers.
- There will be another wave of invitations later this week.
- We are still iterating, so any pictures or videos from SDCC will be outdated by the time Open Beta begins.
If it's the latter, that would indicate things are progressing VERY quickly... If the former (which the wording would seem to indicate), that's not a lot of time between waves and may also indicate very fast progress.
Also, iterating? As in there are core design changes that are still going on, rather than just bug fixes? That's kind of surprising unless it's little cosmetic stuff that's changing based on tester input.
In any case, good hunting out there! -
All the issues that have had me in closed beta have rocked... All those that have not have sucked.
This one isn't in any danger of sucking, but I'd hate to see the streak be broken. -
Quote:Internally, the different servers are called Shards (Open up yout Global Friends and expand the information to see what server you're on... It's right there) This does already give some in-game explanation for in-character talk of happenings on other servers. The servers are each different parallel realities that are VERY close together, as opposed to the Warrior Earth Shard or the Shadow Shard...As far as going serverless, I'd go for a more quasi-serverless system before that. Keeps the servers either as physical entities, or as virtual servers on a single machine if they go that way. Allow transfer between servers to be as easy as stepping though a portal ( the in game explanation being the different servers are alternate worlds ), which would append the words "of servername" to your character as long as you are there. So instead of having to change names you'd be "Doomslash of Virtue" while on Guardian, say. This would hopefully preserve the respective server cultures, while at the same time allowing the advantages of going serverless. Plus, they could then allow the servers to diverge in classic alternate universe style; add changes to some and not others, have events running at different times on different servers and so on.
Food for thought, stuff like this has been in the mix for a long time. -
Quote:Didn't pay attention to the news. There won't be a double xp in October. They do that twice a year and we just had the second one last month. As for the release date I predict middle of September just after CO launches
Quote:Greetings Players,
Due to the stability issues that occurred with the North American servers this past Double XP Weekend, we plan to offer another Double XP Weekend in North America after Issue 16 launches.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to those of you who were unable to enjoy the event as a result of this, and would like to thank you for your patience as we work to resolve these types of issues in the future.
We appreciate your continued support.

I can't seem to find a way to get ANY image sigs to work, without the IMG tags...
Still, I'd rather keep my sig small anyway, because I don't like to look like a gigantic attention wh[cencored]... -
I like those icons... As for the bit about sigs, yeah, it's slippery territory allowing the images, but they can keep it under control...
It seems though that I can't use a .gif file in it... Is this a fluke, or is it something to keep people from putting animations in there? (good luck with the filesize limit...) -
Don't use real names, and keep it tasteful, and you should be fine.
Above all, make it humorous and light hearted, few will want to play in your personal vent space. -
Wow! Go beta testers go!
I fully expect to not get into this one, as I was gone and/or running smoothly through all of i15 open beta, I didn't have a single bug report that hadn't been sent a bajillion times already by others already...
At least I'm patient enough to live without new shinies for a month or so if it takes that long to go from closed to open. -

Emotes
<ul type="square">[*]Quick-Chat Menu has gone through an overhaul and now includes all emotes available to all players.[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]This is the second time this issue where someone on the forums has made a suggestion, a dev has said "good idea" and the suggestion has made it exactly as suggested into the following Test patch... all within a few weeks.
That's really impressive. -

Would this be the thread to talk about Science Booster bugs in live? Can't seem to find any other applicable thread other than the main one on the main game forum.
[/ QUOTE ]The hell are you smoking, good sir? And where can I get some.
...I don't normally smoke, but if it gets the booster on live quicker, I'll try it.
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean this Science Booster? Which was announced here. A little more research would have gone a long way in making you look less like a jerk.
[/ QUOTE ]... Well... Damn... Egg on my face...
*lights up his $10 and kicks back*
EDIT: to note, I had been awake for all of ten minutes before posting... I think... And was hung over at the time. If I sounded like a jackass, it's because I was a jackass... Temporarily. -

hmmm, what about the Red Caps power when they throw some little dude on you and he 'blinds' you. Couldn't that mechanic be used to kind of 'make' this?
I could be totally off here and this isn't even close _--_
[/ QUOTE ]Nope, the little duse is a fixed particle that can't be changed... If you want your costume to go generic when using the attack, sure the tech is there... Otherwise, not even close. -

Hmm, so based on that logic, maybe we need a stalker that can turn itself into random propel style objects.
Suddenly it turns out that the forklift everyone was standing behind turns out to be a gadgets stalker in disguise!
[/ QUOTE ]Gadgets Stalker=DO WANT*dreamland*
Also, some other things people suggested:
Dark Miasma would be crazy hard to balance for Controllers.
Dark Assault would be EASY to build for Doms... but a pain to balance, again. (the lack of it never made sense to me...)
Dark Manipulation as a blaster secondary would also be pretty easy as noted above.
Electrical control, yeah, that would be nice, and as said above, easy to build (3 gremlins for pets, similar to Fire, though).
Superstrength for Stalkers? Naah, the alt animations sound like they'll take care of that.
Why is it though that I feel like the only one who wants Ice Melee and Ice Armor for Stalkers? I mean, it seems like a no-brainer? -
Hmm... Kind of torn between making an Earth/Earth dom and a Shield/Elec Tank. And I have concepts for both.
Hmmmm... -

If they are implanted that could lead to so many awkward situations on shore leave o.@
[/ QUOTE ]
You think that's bad? Consider Crab Spiders. Far worse, in my opinion, although that also leads the question of that's just a backpack or cyberneticly fused to the spine. I tend to believe the latter, if only because they're nonremovable, but that may be just a game limitation rather than reflecting the canon.
Intimate situations are complicated by eighty-odd pounds of fusion cannon and impervium claws.

Dominator - Illusion
MM - Kinetics
[/ QUOTE ]
This may be my terribly faulty memory, but around the time of the first set of proliferation, I remember a dev saying something about how Illusion was better suited for a MM primary than a Dom primary, balance-wise.

Stalker - Shields or fire melee

I was really hoping for Ice/Ice on Stalkers... Make the invisibility a very light misty aura, but with increased shine on the costume's existing textures, for a translucent ice-body look... Of course, I could see the latter effect ballooning into complexity that might put BAB in a straitjacket for a few months. -

OK, for every theory there are going to be exceptions. Besides, this could just be thought of as "Really Bad Headache".... unless I actually see a head roll a random 2d6 feet away (old RPG reference there. +4 geek points if you know it) it could still be considered non-lethal.

Rolemaster

Still, I would like to know Lady Grey's first name... Every time I ask her, she sends me on crazy missions. Usually it's easier to get that first name than the phone number, but this girl is just all backwards.

Per Issue #19 of the Top Cow comics (and Manticore actually WROTE said issue), Lady Grey's first name is Elizabeth.

Ice/Elec! You'll be in melee with AA, why not punch things while you're there?
[/ QUOTE ]Err, for some reason, that's not a terribly convincing argument, but whatever.
+1 vote for Mind/Electric. Mind is the most mitigation of all of the primaries, with 8 out of the nine powers stopping their target from attacking you for a reasonable length of time (9 of 9 if you include the few seconds reprieve from Levitate). It skips the suicide power of every other set (the AoE immob) and gets you its exact opposite, a no-aggro, pure mitigation tool.
So yeah, if you're looking to get all of your offence from /Elec, Mind fills it out nicely.
Also, don't forget a Call of the Sandman proc can go in those nice fast-recharge melee attacks for a little in-combat healing bonus.

Question: Does Arachnos exist in Praetorian Earth?
Answer: Im going to use this question to rain check on all Praetorian questions for right now. Im compiling them all into a big Canon Fodder update for posting closer to the release of the Going Rogue expansion.
[/ QUOTE ]Aww, Well, I hope my question about the Praetorian Lady Grey and Praetorian Vanguard make it into that batch.
Still, I would like to know Lady Grey's first name... Every time I ask her, she sends me on crazy missions. Usually it's easier to get that first name than the phone number, but this girl is just all backwards. -
Well, Feign already has Riposte.
Baduro and Riannah go by their actual names...
Shekinah's Praetorean is Samariel.
And Praetorian Grey... Well, yeah... -
Sweeeeeeeeet, I was hoping to hold Riktipalooza on Virtue on the 3rd... Looks like it'll have a hell of a turnout if I do.

I feel... icky for agreeing with EvilRyu, for the reason exemplified by DarkCurrent. I mean, I agree that Doms were a tough AT to play, I won't deny that, it's just that ER doesn't just wander into hyperbole, he lives there.
It's nothing personal, it's just that it seriously weirds me out to see reasonable dialogue coming from him... But then, maybe people could say that of me too sometimes.
