And as I said before, Global channels being Tier 3 isn't about RMT. It's about the devs taking the game's existing feature list, many that were added after the game's initial roll out in 2004 and try to set up a series of rewards to encourage either subscribing or continuing to subscribe to the game. Many are unlockable monthly or permanently for real cash, however Global channels weren't one of these.
My $5 comment refers to the minimum cost to become Premium and unlock the SG and Coalition chat channels (as well as /tell), I was just saying it's unlikely for the devs to move Globals down to Tier 2 which is only $5 for new players. I'm OK with making it a purchasable item on the market like the way ATs or powersets are, more money to them. -
Wrong patch notes, new patch notes indicate the only fix is to crashing on map load.
-
I'm with the devs here. It makes perfect sense that you find account wide claimable items under Account and character specific claimable items under Character.
-
Patches on Tuesdays, server maintenance on Thursdays. We tend to get a lot more patches in the weeks after a new Issue release than the weeks before the release of a new Issue.
-
Sounds like a download error. Before the patch is applied it's first checked to see if was corrupted. This is done by performing a check using one of the standard hash algorithms (MD5 or SHA-1 I'm guessing) and compare the result to a known result. In your case the comparison failed.
Let's hear it for error messages that are informative to developers as well as users. -
I remember in the late 70s (I think), that somebody started to syndicate old serials to local stations. I remember watching a number of them back then.
One I remember fondly but can't remember it's name had a hero who acquired a device (a belt I think) that made him invisible but his shadow remained. -
Totally forgot about Nadia. And the anime club I use to crash at a nearby university even had cake after her birthday episode.
Hah, thought of another, Yawara!. Story about a girl who's been trained for her entire life to be a Judo master. Again age 15 or so. -
What did you all expect? It's a simple family drama series with all the standard cliche family plots dealing with a family moving to a very different and dangerous environment than where they were. Instead of having them face dinosaurs 85 million years in the past you stick them in the present but moving to Africa, the Amazon, the Outback even Canada
.
Sure they hinted at a secondary plot arc dealing with the Sixers, Taylor's missing son with his etched diagrams by the falls and "the real reason" for Terra Nova which I think is there simply to keep Losties interested in it.
Remember No Ordinary Family. They still had the same family plots with the kids dealing with school and dates while Mom and Dad try to balance family with work. Oh and they have superpowers. -
The problem is usually the main character is a proxy for the reader. So usually boys like male protagonists and girls like female ones.
There are a few series that blur the lines but usually the character is not early teens, tween or younger.
I found Ouren High School Host Club to be riotously funny and I'm a guy. Yes they lampshade many shojo tropes but Haruhi, 15, is still a main character on equal footing with her male friends.
Stellvia of the Universe is an school in space series that would interest boys while having a female main character. I'm kind of fuzzy about Shipon's age since she's a prep school student whose class wears an entirely different uniform from the regular students. This seems to indicate she may be as young as 14.
The Vision of Escaflowne is another series with a 15 year old female main character in what seems like a shonen story but blurs the lines at time with all the action going on around her.
A don't know if people would consider Cardcaptor Sakura as a shonen series, probably not. But it's a lot of adventure, magic, action and it's aimed at a much younger audience. The main character is 10 if I remember right.
Azumanga Daioh is another high school all girl series but it's a comedy and the main character did skip several grades so she is much younger than the rest of the characters. -
I think this is a case where Amazon has a gift registry but calls it a wishlist. Since Amazon is so big and all you young folk have been using it for all your teen and adult life you all assume that a feature like that is called a wishlist everywhere.
NewEgg has wishlists but are just like Paragon Market's. You can use it to add items for checkout but no one else can. You can make the list public and even e-mail it to another but a third party can't directly buy you stuff with your wishlist like they can at Amazon. -
I don't know, what films have you seen enough times that lines are etched into your brain. I'm excluding the obvious, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Back to the Future
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
The Princess Bride
Die Hard
There's also most 80s action films staring Arnold Schwarzenegger. -
It's to quickly find items you have stumbled across and want in the future instead of trying to remember on which page of which subsection of which category it's found in.

Quote:Your complaint is that players who invested just $5 in this game or had previously subscribed for less than a year can't use you SG's Global Chat Channel for out of character conversations, which implies your group is very much about role playing. This also means you don't want non-RP chats showing up in the normal SG channel either. I'm guessing you're not big on the ((ooc)) use.If someone talks about free players one more time I'm going to blow my fuse and get banned.
I'm talking about PREMIUM players! READ!
I don't think it an RMT prevention measure since $5 gives them Tells and e-mail which were the previous vectors used to annoy players with RMT spam, but simply another carrot in a long line of carrots to either encourage players to either subscribe or keep buying points.
So as the team at Paragon was looking at how to carve up the existing game features to make the Paragon Reward inverted pyramid of rewards and they decided that Global Chat went on the next tier above where they unlocked /tell, sg and coalition channels (which only costs $5).
Heck we didn't have global chat channels until Issue 3. And honestly this is the first time I've heard of one being used as a secondary SG channel. A creative use I must admit but most of the time they are used as channels for recruiting teammates for particular tasks like getting Giant Monster badges or running the current hot TF/SF/Trial.
So even though these $5 premium players have access to your SG's chat channel, it's actually your SG's policy that prevents members from chatting about things OOC except on your SG's global chat channel. Maybe your SG should reconsider it's policy than convincing Paragon/NCSoft to change which Tier Globals are unlocked. -
It wouldn't surprise me that someone has "history of previous purchases" patented and even though they are mostly virtue items, the fear or lawsuit or continuous royalty payments is something most item shop or hybrid F2P MMOs aren't looking to find out.
-
I'm guessing that server transfers were the least purchased item pre-Freedom therefore giving them away "costs" Paragon/NCSoft the least in lost sales while giving VIPs the illusion of getting an expensive item for free.
I say illusion because an item that has no value to it's owner is worthless even if it has value to others. -
Quote:Did you also try buying from NCSoft's web site after logging into your master account or did you just try to but points from inside the game? Thanks for your reply.
I'm in South East Asia, Vietnam. I once tried to ask my friend from Spain to get the game, but still no use. -
That's another old feature that modern motherboard chipsets don't have and require an additional controller chip, PCI slots. The old PS/2 mouse and keyboard connector are also legacy and on their way out with some motherboards having one or none at all.
I think IBM has some legacy free motherboards. PCIe only for slots, USB only for peripherals, SATA for internal drives. No floppy or IDE connector support. No PCI slots. No PS/2 connectors. Serial and Parallel ports have mostly gone the way of the dodo. With the introduction of USB 3.0 should start the ushering out of IEEE 1394 aka Firewire as well as eSATA ports. -
Not a lot us players can do about it but I can understand the need to vent.
Are you in South America? I've heard stories about countries down there requiring outside companies to use local companies to sell items like time cards or box expansions. -
Quote:From what I understand, anyone who's billing date occurs during the first 30 days after Issue 21 went live got that month's points on Sept 13th instead of their billing date. After those first 30 days are up, everyone will get it on the billing date.Which is why I mentioned "late September".
My billing date is the 29th of the month, so I fall outside the 1-10th issue... so far.
So if your billing date was Sept 5th, you got two months worth on Sept 13th (Sept and Oct) and your next stipend of points is around Nov 5th or so. If your billing date was Sept 15th, you got one month of points on Sept 13th and your next will be around Oct 13th.
Of course I could be totally misunderstanding what Zwill was saying. -

The only problem I have with this film in concept, haven't seen it yet and probably will wait until my local library gets the DVD, is they took a somewhat depressing short story/novelette and made it up beat and happy.
It would be like a studio taking any of the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever novels or any of Greg Bear's end of Earth or mankind novels and made it up beat and happy. -
Sadly AMD drivers are hit or miss for this game. 11.9 seems to work well. Before that it was 11.3 or 11.4. All other 11.x drivers between the two have problems. I haven't seen a 11.10 thread yet.
Yes it's unfortunate that if you play the most current games that your choice is to make that game run better or this game run at all. -
Chap with wings, there. Five rounds rapid.

A serious question is whether or not years of conditioning is adversely affecting the economy. Do people put off buying things for themselves until Black Friday due to the sales, making that period between US Thanksgiving and New Years skewed even more than it was say in the 60s or 70s? I tend to buy my expensive "toys" during this period as well as the usual holiday gifts for others. Do people start holding off big ticket purchases in the weeks or months before Black Friday? Superbowl sales for TVs? Back to School sales for computers and clothes?
And if the holiday season is when a large chunk of discretionary buying occurs for retailers you can understand that in tougher times their willingness to extend the season earlier than normal. It's just the continuing creep that annoys me. That and you can't buy a winter jacket in the winter or swimwear in the summer because they are only stocking for the next season or two and not the current one. -
Chuck is a hero. He fights villains. Seems reasonable to talk about it here.
