Let's try a little math shall we.
The vast bulk of the game is saved in the PIGGS folder, these files are already compressed to a substantial degree.
Currently the PIGGS folder is about 2,992,003 KB in size.
At 140KB/s that would be about 20,772 seconds or around 5 hours and 48 minutes.
Seems to me that 6 and a half hours isn't that much out of line with your reported connection speed.
Feel free to come back and ask any other questions. -
Back in the day when Mez effects dropped all your toggles, tanks learned not to over pull when the critter group is Mez happy since toggling on all your powers got annoying rather quickly.
Now that defensive toggles, the bulk of a tank's toggles, are simply suppressed and not dropped it's a lot easier to overlook that one offensive toggle that did get dropped or think that there is a bug due to the inconsistency (because most players aren't avid readers of release/patch notes or dev diaries). -
The last time I halted my subscription I too noticed that they won't boot you off but they simply won't let you log in again (perhaps another reason for forcing players all the way back to the login screen when switching characters). I was able to finish playing that session about two hours after my expiration time.

No, Claws is right. You should be able to play until 6PM tomorrow. At least that's been my experience.

Well put TonyV.
I think the two trains of thought as playing the system Vs playing the game. Playing the system is the belief that maximizing XP, leveling speed, set bonuses, etc. is what the game is about. No those are the game's mechanics. The game is about heroes (or villains) going about their business in a world not that dissimilar to the ones we see in DC or Marvel comics.
I play a scientist/engineer in an 8 1/2 foot tall suit of power armor he originally designed for fire/rescue, now disguised to look like Santa.
I play a 57 year old half human/half fox spirit that looks 24 because of the long lifespan her mother's side of the family granted after her "training".
I play a Grey that was incarcerated since he crashed in Roswell in 1947. He was released due to his help during the first Rikti Invasion. After 50 years of learning culture through of TV and movies he has a somewhat odd sense of human normalcy.
I play a 20 something heiress to a family in the weapons business. Unlike other famous 20 something heiresses, she isn't on the cover of tabloids with stories of drunken debauchery but the cover of various gun magazines and training for the Olympics in the various shooting events.
I play a former British Army Major in Queen Victoria's service who after retirement became an inventor, creating devices for the military. Unfortunately for him a device he created that kept meals hot or cold and kept food stores fresh indefinitely didn't work the way he thought, like a super thermos. One afternoon his cat jarred the door and it closed on him while he was inside. He found out when the door was opened, 103 years later at the tech achieves of DATA in Paragon City, that it actually insulated the contents from time itself.
I play all these characters very differently. Not just because of their power sets or ATs but because they are different people with different backgrounds, wants and desires. I converse with other players differently with each. Some are shy. Some are wiseasses. Some are socially liberal, some conservative. Each has a concept in my mind to who they are and when playing them I try to behave how they would behave. -
Not really, most of the time, depends.
An IO's percentage is based on it's level. A level 30 common IO is about the same as a +1 SO (34.8% Vs 35%). A level 50 common IO is 42.4%. So it depends on the level of IOs you are planning to use.
The tricky part comes when you start to use set IOs either straight up (using all the pieces from the same set for set bonuses) or Frankenslotting (mixing IOs from multiple sets to maximize the enhancement value for multiple aspects, set bonuses be damn). Frankenslotting can give you the same or better enhancement totals with fewer slots than SOs or common IOs. However to get all the set bonuses from an IO set you have to slot all of them and that is usually 4 to 6 slots.
In the case of Quick Recovery, there happens to be a special IO from a set you can get that if slotted in QR (or Stamina) has a 20% chance every 10 seconds to give you 10 endurance. Because of that you may want to four slot those powers. Or three slot them with 2 level 50 IOs and this special IO. -
There isn't an Arena in every zone. There isn't a University in every zone (they appeared well before Issue 9). There isn't a Vanguard outpost in every zone. Why should WW be any different. Personally I thought it was a mistake to have an AE in virtually every zone. I imagine this was done in expectation of a flood of players creating missions versus a flood of players looking to run missions.
-
Dell is currently getting out of the "gaming PC" business under it's name, redirecting that niche market to it's Alienware brand.
However some say it might be Alienware that's going bye-bye. -
WW and Vault go together. You don't get one without the other.
Anyways. Atlas does seem to get more things added to it than Galaxy.
Issue 2 - Atlas gets connected to the Hollows.
Issue 4 - Galaxy gets an Arena
Issue 7 - Atlas gets is how you get to Recluse's Victory
Issue 9 - Atlas gets WW and Vault
Issue 10 - Atlas gets Vanguard base
Issue 14 - Atlas and Galaxy gets AE -
Prioritizing targets. Different critter types in different groups need to be taken out first to make defeating the rest easier.
Having more than "lets rush them" as a strategy.
Pulling to separate mobs of critters that are close enough together to accidentally aggro both. -
At least we don't have three Luscas anymore. One being ignored is bad enough.

I think the problem here is the definition of "role playing". You can role play as a female without the whole sexual/flirting/cybering thing. In War_Admiral's definition, you can't. There is no reason why a female character can't act as a female no matter the gender of the player controlling them. It's like a male writer penning a female character. The opposite is equally true.
[/ QUOTE ]
I explained the reasons for his reactions..based on his / our experiences with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but it seems, based on a number of his posts that he now connects a male RPing a female to be only this.
Examples:
[ QUOTE ]
We (The Stoned Templars) had 2 members who told us they were female and even went out of their way to maintain that "sex" in pretty much everything they did and said. Of course...they were "lesbian". *rolls eyes*
It wasnt until we added Vent and invited them that we came to the conclusion that they were both dudes. They both declined to use Vent every time we asked them to join it.
From that point on...I just assume punch RPers in the face. They're useless if you ask me. Dudes RPing as chicks......get a life. Seriously.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
My guess is there are A LOT of guys running around pretending to be female. Those are the people I wonder about.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
You're on target now....guys playing girls DOES weird me out as it should a lot of people. Whats the point? I just dont get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
From where I'm from, guys dont pretend to play girls. Obviously from where you're from, they do. I'm sorry you have to live around those types of "boys"...I really am.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. The "guys" I hang around dont pretend to be girls. And I still feel sorry for the "boys" who do.
[/ QUOTE ]
He seems to be utterly against a male player with a female character playing in character, the essence of RPing, as female. Now he also said that as members of the SG, and assume he means as players not characters, that these two passed themselves off as female players, in the meta game. That isn't RPing, that is lying about who you are to others.
Now they may have legitimate reasons to lie to their game friends from not wanting to get grief from some for playing "girls" to once they dug a hole for themselves with their flirting/cybering banter that they were now too embarrassed to reveal the truth. Or they simply wanted to play with people's heads and see how much they could get away with, laughing between themselves over all the sex starved gamers they could manipulate. But lumping all gender bending RPers with those two, no matter their motivation, is painting with too broad of a brush. -

Thanks guys. What's the Oroboros trick you speak of?
[/ QUOTE ]
Take a character in the SG into Ouroboros and start any Flashback "TF". BAM! Instant self-Exemplaring, which means no XP but double Influence/Prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
Arrg! This is one of my pet peeves. It's as bad as freaking out over clicking on glowies during the respec TF, this just doesn't die.
Exemplaring does one of two things.
If you are in debt, your debt is paid off twice as fast since the XP you receive isn't split. You don't receive influence/infamy.
If you are not in debt, you get influence/infamy equal to the XP you would have received. What it doesn't do is give you double influence/infamy.

I'm not planning on using crossfire or SLI ...
I'm just questioning if I should get that MB for the faster FSB or if the 1333 FSB isn't that much of a performance difference.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't really matter if you aren't planning to overclock. If you are both have settings in their BIOS to allow you to push the FSB well beyond the 1333MHz "limit" of Core 2 CPUs (ignoring the QX9770). Both allow you to set the FSB well beyond 1600MHz even.
Actually upon further investigation, the reason is Asus has the BIOS in the P5Q Pro automatically recognize the QX9770 and set the FSB to 1600MHz. Again this isn't an official allowed setting for the Intel P45. Asus just made it easy for the handful of people who own the "ultimate" Core 2 based quad core. Don't know why they didn't provide the same automatic feature with the nVidia chipset.
One other thing, which probably doesn't matter. The P5Q Pro doesn't come with an old style 25-pin printer or 9-pin serial port. It's all USB baby. -

Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 CrossFire Chipset LGA775 FSB1600 DDR2/800 Mainboard
vs
# Asus P5N-D nForce 750i SLI Chipset LGA775 FSB1333 DDR2 Mainboard
What is the difference between that and the one you suggested ? Would I be able to use the same CPU on either ?
[/ QUOTE ]
The main difference, besides the unofficial FSB top speed (the P45 is still only officially supports 1333MHz FSB in it's spec) is the brand of "multiple video cards working as one" it supports. The P5Q supports multiple ATI cards working together in Crossfire, the P5N-D supports multiple nVidia cards in SLi. Either motherboard will support a single card from either brand and I believe they can still use multiple video cards from either brand but only as independent cards to their own monitors. But if you are planning to use two nVidia or two ATI cards together to achieve higher framerates, the choice in motherboard is dependent on which brand of video card you are planning to use.
[ QUOTE ]
Also I can get it with 2 HDs or 2 HDs with RAID-0, but what is the difference ?
I want one HD for the OS and the other for everything else.
[/ QUOTE ]
RAID 0 (which is a misnomer because it's the opposite of Redundant, the R in RAID) spreads a file across both drives, which allows files to be read from and written to faster as each drive shares in the work. BUT, and this is a big and important BUT, if either drive fails, you lose everything, hence my statement about it NOT being Redundant.
In your case, wanting OS on one and data on the other, don't get RAID 0. -
Ah.. don't go into the light?
I preferred the bug years ago where the airlock doors became clown cars full of Vahz. Ended up with clipping issues of arms and shoulders sticking through with the occasional one "pushed" out into the hall every half minute or so. Thank heavens this was back when tanks were meat shields and they could survive the alpha strike long enough after opening the door to pop some greens. -
Thanks all. Sorry I didn't notice this earlier, never normally stick my head down here.
And yes, I'm still stuck on dial-up. There is a rumor that my cable company is building out their backbone (I'm and my town are at the tail end of their region, a good 30 miles from their central office) and with the whole HD is here NOW, they may add/find the bandwidth to offer internet. But I'm not holding my breath. -
Sadly that is not my experience. Of course the last time I did this was back in the era of Koschej and later Niviene back last Sept/Oct. Those avatars I reported then are still alive and well.
If you hadn't notice, the forum FAQ no longer has guidelines on avatars. I guess that was their solution to the problem. -

Heck I know a lot of people with "The Shadow" look a likes. I have a few. Black suit, black hat, black mask over mouth. But mine are in CoH and are D3s or D2 scrappers and their bio and name don't even suggest who I'm homaging.
As for not well known in the 21st Century, well they still show the Adam Baldwin movie version on TV every once in a while.
