increasing prestige?

Ok, you know how currently you can turn off XP gaining and JUST focus on gaining influence? Is there a way to do something similar with Prestige, so that new/fledgling super groups can get bases with working teleporters and med bays without waiting until everyone is level 50?

I believe that turning off XP does the same thing for prestige when you're in SG mode. I'm often wrong though, so don't take my word for it, test it, for SCIENCE!

I might be mistaken here, but when i turned off XP last time i got the feeling i was getting the same amount of Inf as i was getting with it on... and not increased like when you are Malled/Exempted.
So there really is no gain here then (except not leveling, but if you're after prestige there is no reason not to lvl).
I could be mistaken though...

Correct. Turning off XP is not like exemping. You do NOT gain more influence/prestige, just the normal amount. All turning off XP does is turns off your XP gains.

Well that kinda sucks... but the Ouroboros trick still works, right?

Yes, it does.

However, for the OP, with the recent prestige changes, I've not had a problem getting a base set up pretty quickly with even minimal people in the SG (read: me and my one friend that was in the SG with me).

Once you -have- a base, don't forget to log out next to the base portal so you can start getting the monitor duty day job for the prestige bonus!

[/ QUOTE ] You don't even need to be in an SG to get credit for this badge. Obviously you have to have an SG to take advantage of the prestige bonus, but the group doesn't have to have a base to get the bonus either. You can help earn more prestige so you can get enough to build the base to begin with.

But it is a good point. Logging out near the portal will help earn you a little extra prestige for the group for a limited time.

Actually, having started 2 VGs on the same Server from scratch a small group of people can get a decent small Base running in no time Villain side. It takes a bit of creative editting at first when you can just afford your first 'porter, but with the addition of small Group combo items to get the base running, it is easily doable.

FYI at 25 percent Health, ressing in your Base and running back to a mission is sort of a waste. So you really don't need a med bay very early.

Pad your SG to get the max Prestige Bonus (20k x 15 members) and just trundle along. It really doesn't take long and you will find that the Bases are ancillary to MOST of your play regardless.

Thanks guys. What's the Oroboros trick you speak of?

Also, I have a small VG with about 12 peopl in it so far, and since we all started at level 1, we've now reached level 20 and our base still can only afford an oversight center with the small combo unit and a single small control room for the pillar of ice and flame. *sigh*

Take a character in the SG into Ouroboros and start any Flashback "TF". BAM! Instant self-Exemplaring, which means no XP but double Influence/Prestige.

[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, a new group doesn't need the pillar of ice and flame. I'd rather wait a few more levels and actually go to Ouro. Save the prestige and space for something more useful... even if it's just an inspiration bin.

That said,

[/ QUOTE ] It can be useful, especially at the low levels, to grab inspirations from the base instead of going to the hospital. A med bay and storage are the first things I would install. The 25% health is no big deal considering you'll most likely regen before you get to where you are going anyway... and/or you can just put a few extra greens in the base to counter the effect.

Or put in the base one of those little robots that you can buy greens and blues from.

I find that having a med bay forces me to think a little bit when I faceplant.

"Where IS the hospital in this zone? Where's the 'base portal drop off point'? And in what part of the zone is the mission located?" By the time I zone back and travel to the mission, even my squishies are often mostly healed up....

Sometimes it's a LOT quicker to use the hospital; other times it's even FASTER to use the med bay and grab a heal inspie or two -- and I can stock up on other inspies while I'm there.

Of course, how early others want a med bay is all about personal preference!

[/ QUOTE ] That's definitely a useful item too, but I don't think it applies to new groups. By the time an SG would earn the badge for it, they wouldn't be small anymore and have enough extra prestige to have a few more rooms by then. (Unless of course somebody farms the SG healing badge early on.)

One thing to watch for is the "Wait, didn't anyone refill the inspiration chest?" problem. If you have two or more people in the SG, there's a good chance it'll get emptied and not refilled, and then you have to have the "Roommate talk" with each other.

[/ QUOTE ] With the introduction to a Base Portal in PocketD, it makes it very easy to refill the bins on a lowB character.

Smack that roommate when he gets home, or take away his Fridge-Pass. haha

You can buy the medium insps from the Market pretty easily. The rezzes, greens and blues are pretty pricey at times. However, you can buy the yellows, reds and oranges fairly cheaply, then convert them to what you'd rather stock.

i do not know if everyone is talking about logging off while in the base to get the Monitor Duty day job badge, however, you do not have to log out near the entrance, so long as you log out anywhere in your base you will pop up at the SG entrance and will have earned time towards that dayjob.

[/ QUOTE ] That's not necessarily true. Yes, if you click on your base's portal and then log out inside your base, you'll get credit for the badge.. but that's only because your character will end up logging back in next to the portal.

If somebody used the Base TP power, or died to get into their base, they WONT get credit for the dayjob because they will log in at the same location they were at before they went to the base.
