Why is this not working?

Because image tags are disabled on the boards. You may have noticed zero other image sigs. You could still put it in like this: The Butterfly Effect or whatnot.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

This.

You need to host the picture at another site, then use the link provided there to direct people to the image. Direct image links don't work here, and there are no image tags.

Because we "regular users" can't post images directly.

As slow as these boards often are, I imagine images would cause a meltdown.

Well, in all honesty, other forums that allow them have had problems with too much clutter from them. And people posting inappropriate images. Think of it as a preemptive strike against that sort of thing.

The forums have first-strike capabilities? Dang. That's pretty cool.

[/ QUOTE ]Images can be fine, so long as there are rules limiting their size/frequency that get enforced.

Which adds a whole other layer of work to the mod staff (who already have their hands full keeping us in line)

Thing is, enforcing the rules gets to be problematic. It's much easier to just disable images all together than have to deal with someone posting, say, sick fetish porn images because they think it's funny during the off-hours so it'll take longer for the image to get modsmacked.

Oh, I agree with you. I guess I should have added, "Unfortunately, enforcing such rules is difficult, particularly on a large forum such as this one."

They don't enforce rules about avatar file size as it is. Most recently came across a 2.2MB avatar, not bad for you all with broadband but I'm still on dial-up. Fortunately only need to find them once and then BAM, Adblock Plus.

And they *do* get removed when reported.

Sadly that is not my experience. Of course the last time I did this was back in the era of Koschej and later Niviene back last Sept/Oct. Those avatars I reported then are still alive and well.

If you hadn't notice, the forum FAQ no longer has guidelines on avatars. I guess that was their solution to the problem.

I reported an avatar once and it was removed a couple of hours later.
