  1. Nothing short of a slow shot of a camera (hero POV) flying up into the sky above Atlas Park higher and higher until the whole city is in view and we see it all as the sun sets and we fade to black because the never-ending battle never ends.

For my own characters - I stranded most of them in the past with the intention of writing some Steampunk fiction about them.

But for my own favorite character, Praetorian A'ko, I sent her back to Praetoria to find the Well and gain the power to restore Praetoria to what it was before the rise of Tyrant.

The entire story and the never-ending battle is summarized in this screencap I took.

And yeah. It IS a lot of fun.

And yeah. Unfortunately, it's always going to suffer by comparison to CoH. It's just a testament to how great the Paragon staff actually was.
    Uh...hmm.

I guess it was a couple weeks after the news of the shutdown at CoH so early to mid-September. It's been a while. But I played through the whole thing, got to fight some dudes on a space ship and this robot guy and the tentacle thing.

I did use these, healing potions (?), I guess that kept boosting my HP and used a lot of BLOCK to keep my endo charged up. It wasn't easy and I died constant and I'm pretty sure I paid $5 in actual cash to restore my star points. But I did get through the whole thing.

But like I said, I got my blaster on that mish now and I'm very much stuck at the first rescue at the downed space ship. BUT, I got me a friend who is gonna share my misery and surely we can team defeat it. We'll see.

But is still a helluva lot of fun. I even wrote fan-fiction for my character based on the bugs that turned a "routine training mission" into a life-or-death struggle for survival for the young trainee.

I did manage to solo it with my Behemoth. It's proving to be...difficult with my blaster/tank(ish). But we'll see.

I mainly use the world for RP and for getting my "hero" on when I'm in that kinda mood and need a break from the un-ending darkness that is my new life in The Secret World (which I highly recommend).

I think Champions is plenty good - just not in comparison with CoH. I'm hoping (probably in vain) that with the fresh blood coming into the game, there will be more updates and bug fixes and refreshes to that world that'll make it more CoH-like.

But honestly, it's fine the way it is. It's a poor sub for CoH but NOTHING could replace it.

  4. I snagged it for half-price and that included a month's game time. I just couldn't resist and now I'm in love again.

  5. Easy.

Praetorian A'ko - my homage to the Project: A-ko anime series. She evolved so much since I first rolled her that the only resemblance now is her name. She was a 50+3 SS/INV brute, with a T4 Alpha, and was fully IO'd. She was almost unstoppable before pushing Unstoppable. She was often a tanker, able to take a lot of hits, but she really excelled in mob melee.

She was my main and I have consistently role played her in-game and on Formspring for over 2 years. Heck, even players who know me in RL call me Eiko.

I've made a version of her in The Secret World and Champions. But she's not the same character. There was something about CoH that made this version of A'ko really shine. It's something that can't be exported and I'm going to miss it terribly.

Oh...and there's only ONE face, either male or female. Several beastlike faces, true.....but in the end....they're all the same. One human female, one human male, one wolf female, one wolf male, etc., etc., etc.
Ya know, I've had some really good luck with the face sliders making my characters look pretty good. The glowing eye masks too are also a very nice touch.

Here's CO-version of my main Eiko Magami.

I think it brings out her features in a way that the CoH generator never could. It just takes some patience.

What stops me from playing more is the stories are so much more insulting compared to what I'm used to. And Silver-Age Eiko is no where NEAR as interesting for me to RP.
  7. This is what I thought too but when it went on sale for half price over the weekend, I couldn't resist. I really want to enjoy Champions but it's just too painful. I need a clean break. I'm going to let that fall back to F2P and focus on TSW.

There's just so many things I love about it - the mechanics - the story - the wheel - the free form design - no lvl'ing - and the grinding makes some sense. I can relate to it.

Now, I'm still not entirely sure what my character's motivations are but it's still early. Right now, it's all about survival as I've let myself linger in Kingsmouth and taking things slowly.

  8. To me - I learned to enjoy CO in the same way that I enjoy Batman: Brave and the Bold or Teen Titans.

I prefer a more grounded and serious take on the whole superhero thing but I do kinda get burned by the Nolanesque(TM) version of comics. I didn't even see the last Batman movie because I just don't need to feel that gritty.

So the Anchroman skit would be very insulting in CoH but in CO where I'm feeling more of classic Superfriends rather than Justice League: Unlimited, it kinda works. I just decided to play my mains in the same vein.

When I want my characters to be dark, gloomy, serious, and gritty, I've rolled them in the Secret World too.

  9. Spending time in the Chalet. My favorite zone.

Then my two favorite and best alts will inexplicably wake up in a parallel but Secret World.

  10. Hey I used to have that computer - still do under the bed. City of Heroes eventually killed it.
  11. I've made over 1200 screen shots so far. I plan to use them as backgrounds for my art. Whenever I miss CoH, I can just draw my toons and villains right into the scene!

    Don't give up.

They speak the truth, whenever I log on, Charcoal is usually around in the SG chat or on City of Formspring chat. I've mostly just been doing photo runs and trying out alternative games.

But in honor of Charcoal's first post, I will check in every night this week!

    I have been inspired!

    E.

(( I guess I'm assuming this is the same Charcoal that I know. If not, still inspired ))
  13. Speaking as someone who has been RP'ing the daughter of the Praetorian version of Wonder Woman and Superman for a couple of years ( a homage to Project: A-ko) I'm completely open to this idea.

Honestly, I'm open to ANY strong female protagonist super hero series!

    Where are you?

I'm stunned to find I'm not the only player in Arkansas.

    Woo Pig Sooie!!
  15. My first toon at CoH and still one of my mains, Anbaric Amber, is a time-traveling, interdimensionally transcendent, elec/fire blaster who may or may not actually be human exists in multiple points in time, space, and dimension. She's the same character, with the same memories and histories and experiences regardless of where/when she is.

This leads to some fascinating and confusing RP sometimes but I really enjoy it.

Anbaric Amber exists in Rift, SW:TOR, CO, DCUO, CoH, and now in The Secret World. She's also been a Transformer and an elite race car driver and street racer.

So moving on with her RP in other games is easy and she's the only character I'm not worried about. My other character are not so fortunate and I dunno what to do with them.
  16. I will check you guys out for sure. I was given CO and CoH as gifts at the same time three years ago and made my choice but I'm keeping an open mind.

Be on the look out for Eiko Magami.

    E.
  17. I'm gonna give it a whirl anyway. I don't really play anything other than CoH. I've tried other things but CoH was home for the past couple years. I don't expect anything to replace it.

    E.
  18. If it's anything like SW:TOR's cut scenes, I didn't mind those so much.
  19. I won't buy anything from NCSoft and I've deleted Aion.

    E.
  20. Absolutely beautiful. So touching. Thank you for this.

    E.
  21. Ironically, all but one of my Women of Justice were at the scene when Cole fell. Their leader, The Anbaric Amber, a time-traveling electric blaster rescued them from the nuke. But were accidentally sent to 1908 where they remain.

My most popular character, Eiko Magami (a homage to Project: A-ko) will be going to CO.

My first and most original character, Anbaric Amber will probably head to The Secret World. She also already exists in SW:TOR and Rift and Aion thanks to her "interdimensionally transcendent" nature.

The rest of them will all live long lives in the past staying out of the way of history.

    E.
  22. Me.

I used the game as a social network and a way to help me get over some social anxiety and other junk. I'm just so devastated. I mean, I didn't lose my job or anything but I'm still so sad and so angry.

I've been running around taking screen caps of everything I can think of. I have the skills of an artist so I can always draw my toons and drop them into the appropriate background and dream.

I've been thinking of making a tumblr with my art and and screen caps so that at least in some way their world continues.
  23. I'm already on CO - I've had a free account for a long time. I tried CoH and CO both at the same time - stuck with the winner obviously. But I'm over at CO - dunno if I'll stick around - it's just...not home.

    There's a RP group/channel on CO

    http://championsonlineroleplayers.shivtr.com/

I will be trying out The Secret World if it ever downloads! 14.6 GB?!

I played SW:TOR for about 3 months and didn't like it. But - that's when I was able to cozy up with CoH. I can see myself going back to SW:TOR when it's free-to-play.

If Transformers Universe ever gets released, I'll try that out prob.

I played Rift some and even though it's too grindy and has all that mid-evil fantasy stuff I don't care for - I did have some good RP during my 30-days. So, I'll be trying that out again.

But mainly I'll be continuing to RP my toons on Formspring and other outlets like fanfiction.net and Virtueverse.

  24. I was sitting in the back of Spanish class - texting via Formspring when a message from Pathrunner popped up announcing the news. I claimed a menstral and went home early.

Pretty much been crying and raging and panicking ever since.

    This I like!

We should make this like an official deal in the Formspring-verse.
