  2. Just tweaked my Ill Rad build and, sure enough, it's possible to have perma hasten, PA, Benumb, sleet and near perma Heat Loss (95.7 seconds to recharge on a 90 second duration). You don't get the Regen whack of Lingering Radiation, but you beat the snot out of the Resistance.

    Don't agree there. I have no problem letting folks who play stupidly take it on the chin. Without exception, teammates are telling them to stop doing X or Y. If they persist, then they are writing their own check to cash. If they jeopardize the team, I'll step in. If they are only putting their toon in danger...Darwin rules apply.
  4. Never done the Hami taunt, but I've heard it's also all about Regen and Resist - WP tank, for example. I've seen an uber Stone tank build that would do well, also. EDIT: Want to clarify, I don't think an "uber" build is needed. It's just that I saw one recently on this board that would do well.
  5. Not sure if you would like this direction, but what about 44.9 for S/L and 38.9% for ranged? The Smoke grenade at 49 with the -ToHit also acts as a defense buff, of sorts. I'm not sure sweating out AoE is worth the effort.

    I've neer played TA before. I imagine I would learn, the hard way, the points that you make. After you noted it, I agree that the -Def is overslotted, since most teams will have the Rad or Earth type (or some other form of debuff).

    I do like to plot out in advance, though, and will incorporate the wisdom of others. Thanks!
  8. I just finished a TA/Dark build. At first, I pushed for the 45% ranged defense. However, after thinking about all the -ToHit debuff, I'm not sure it's needed.

    Mine is a bit more Frankenslottish. Originally, I took Psychic Mastery over Power, but tweaked it to match your power selection. Use it as food for thought, if you'd like.

  9. Toon will be on teams. I rarely solo. Purpose is to provide holds and debuffs and some fire support. With Flash Arrow, the defense is up to 35% or so. I didn't realize the amount of debuffing a TA/Arch can do.

    On my Claws/WP scrapper, I use Focus a lot. I don't "tank" with that scrapper though. She's built to stand next to a tank and lay down damage while the tank takes the beating.

    However, I'm not sure Focus is as important the a "tanking" scrapper. Something had to go, so the single target ranged attack seemed to make more sense, considering Taunt is in there for ranged aggro control.

  12. Figuring in you want to tank, I thought to add Taunt and pull the ranged attack (Focus). I also added Unstoppable, which I don't have in my Inv/SS tank build, but may be needed for a scrapper.

  13. Confused about something.

    Fearsome Stare has an 18.8% tohit debuff. Doesn't it? So, why is the tohit debuff lower with the enhancement? Am I missing something, MIDS related?

    Nooooooo, not six a day. I typically run a toon to fifty in a month or so and I don't powerlevel or play for more than 4 hours at any sitting (when I can play - which is not daily).

    I don't solo though and almost always run teams of eight, mostly TFs.

    Just this year alone I took a Fire/EM blaster, Elec/SD scrapper and Ill/Rad to 50 and topped them off with IO sets. That's in addition to starting a brute, another troller and an asortment of toons I've started and killed by L 20.

    Maybe I miscalculated. I'll keep a count on my Dark/Dark Def, which I started recently. His creation day is the same day he joined the SG. He's level 27 and I think he was started about a week ago, but this last weekend I didn't play much at all. I don't think from 20 to 50 really takes as much time as folks think. Maybe with altitis it does.

    Of course, it likely depends on what is considered "casual play."
  15. I haven't found the EATs all that appealing to play.

    Besides, as someone said earlier, getting to 50 isn't all that difficult nowadays. To get from 20 to 50 would take, what, three weeks of casual play?

    I agree with this.

    Even when an Emp jumps on my team, I hear, "I'll try my best." Fine with me. If folks complain about lack of buffs, I tell them to build their toons to survive without them and treat them like gifts.

    I shelved my Emp/Sonic months ago because I grew tired of the constant calls for this buff or that. Fire/Kin was also mothballed, as if I leveled a toon just to Speed Boost folks.

    I think the more folks complain about not getting the buffs will make those characters less and less likely to be created.
  17. As I grew from a boy to a man, I worked out a lot. Part of that was due to mandatory PT, but mostly it was because I wanted to be stronger, faster and have more endurance.

    So, a toon trains to increase certain attributes with each level at the cost of other attributes. They can select a path with less emphasis on stamina and fitness.

    Likewise, I could have spent my time studying German, instead of running.

    This would mean that, while I could interpret for my unit, I would face a tougher time on ruck marches.

    Is your issue that you want it all without cost? Because the concept of trade-offs and specialization shouldn't be all that foreign.

    It certainly doesn't count those that visit the thread, furrow eyebrows or read the responses and figure the issue is settled, and move on.

  18. Sorry, should have been more clear. I was playing and toggled over to post the idea before it slipped my mind.

    Yes, I was suggesting the decoys from the Ill controller take the general form of teammates. In that way, they will appear as decoys for teammates. I tossed the idea out about taking a random power selection of teammates, but didn't see it coming about.

    I have an Ill/Rad and it seemed like more could be done so that the decoys were actual decoys for someone, instead of generic heroes in duplicate costumes.
  19. Ok, howz about the decoys be copies of players on the team to be, you know "decoys." Not match the powers (though that would be interesting), but just the forms.
  20. Ran a Kahn last night and still ran into the bug. We whacked him with the Rays and couldn't dent the guy for more than a few HPs per attack.
  21. Has this been addressed? Ran a Kahn last night and had the same experience. Final Reichsman was like Invincible. Hit him with the Grounding Rays and we could only take 1 or 2 HPs off per attack.
