  1. Happens alot with a number of villian groups. You can bug the mish or not worry about it.

    Why?

For generic IOs its most typically someone going for fieldcrafter or just badging in general.

For other IOs I imagine its a case where someone has IOs and just wants the space in storage back. Why they were crafted in the first place, I couldn't tell you. I know I sold a few sets of IOs like 6 mos ago below crafting cost.....they were level 20 sets of some sort i slotted just to get bonus accuracy for a kin pre-SOs cause I hate when my heal missed.
I needed a respec anyhows to I removed and listed them for 6 each.....still took two weeks to sell them all and most went for like 20-50k anyhows.
  3. Oh they didn't care where it came from as far as how I made it.....they wanted to know which toons I emailed it from. Which is hard to remember which toon is last when you do a rolling bundle of like 200M each from 5 toons to get a billion together (A sends 200M.....B claims and sends 400M...and so on).
  4. The emails were like 6-8 hrs old when they went poof......the thursday maint. deleted them.

I normally don't store stuff like this overnight but I was tired.....and as for why I need to move inf off toons. I have 3 toons who make 300M or so every 3 days so they get filled pretty quick. I assure you I wasn't paying for PL.......I'm on the other end charging if I'm involved with that at all.

And as I predicted they will refund the inf....though they did want to know where all the inf came from. Good news in addition....they won't drop it onto toons too close to the cap already.

So I'll be more careful in the future about emailed inf....and am glad CoX has decent support.
  5. Just a word of warning to everyone who uses email to store items/inf. I am currently having to petition to get back just under 2.5B inf cause 3 emails went poof (left my blanks for sending stuff back to 2 people though *boggle*).

I suspect I will get the inf back but just be careful and if you think something is amiss.....it probably is cause there is a bug thread about it too.

No I do this stuff with data in the real world market.....and pay money to buy the data I need. I'm too lazy to enter every item into a spreadsheet like that. I'm just barely motivated enough in-game to keep track of my own bids and asks on a spreadsheet so I can set up proper support bids and such. That said, I have a really good memory for profits so I trust what I remember pretty well.
  7. I seem to have lost about 2.5B. Its kind of annoying because I almost never store inf like that overnight but I just was tired and didn't feel like dealing with it right then.

Petition sent and hoping for a positive resolution.

Is it a question of picking the right mission to match your strengths?

(ie. If you have a high range defense pick a mission with lots of baddies who have lots of ranged single target attacks.)

Not looking for trade secrets just a general explanation of how one would go about it.
There used to be AE farms where all you had to be able to do was dish damage because the enemy wouldn't be fighting back much (snipe farms.......the mm pet mis-level one....etc). They're all kind of lame but its just like any type of farm honestly....kick butt and kill stuff fast.

    superior recipe!

Hart is in part right that increased entrants into the purple markets have driven prices up. But additionally as players have more inf left over after slotting the formerly expensive-ish pool Cs the supply of inf chasing the purple supply is increased, raising prices.

I saw a number of my niches become less profitable as well as crafted IO prices dropped a little and recipe prices saw a slight rise (originally with i18 the IOs stayed stable and the recipes dropped so c'est la vie).

    Did you overpay?

Both Fulmens and I try to find the person who got hosed on an overpay. I refund everything except the 10% market fee I get whacked with. Sadly, I only manage to find the other person about 1 in 50 times because most people don't read the forums.
  11. Lets see the effects......

    1) Pool C recipes which are not the TOP demand ones have roughly halved in price. This may be due to increased competition among marketeers from blue/red sides in the combined market, due to the increased supply from amerits, or due to a combination. I'm going with mostly increased supply as my guess.

    2) The price on top-demand pool C recipes has dropped significantly but not as severely as the middling pool C stuff.

    3) The price on purples and PvP IOs has increased alot because they're not in the random rolls and people have more inf left after pool C'ing and have spent it on high-end stuff. Any effect amerit buying may have in increasing supply hasn't been seen yet.

Not even close. Its not even the single largest prestige burning pit yet. I've blown up more infamy on freedom with some help from Fulmens (though I'm giving alot of it back to the 88's now it seems) than the 88's have so far. That said, I'm excited about the 88's.
  13. As to what do I do with my profits?

Most of my profits anymore are converted to prestige in a probably futile attempt to cut the increase in the supply of inf in the game (which causes much more inflation than any marketeering). If more people joined Fulmens and me we might have a shot at actually stemming the tide of inflation.
  14. To run my inf creating machine requires about 11B tied up in the market over 25 toons. Of course I'm generating about 650M and managing 5 toons per day, mostly on high-end stuff.

When I ramped these toons up they all mostly started with whatever they popped from kills and I did stuff like flip alchemical silver (6k bids and 25k sells back then) and brainstorm farming (1k bids on base salvage -- turn 20 into rare salvage randoms for avg sale of like 1M or so) to generate their first millions....then I moved on to crafting generics and common set IOs. Eventually I move into buy/craft for 20 sell for 40 stuff which Fulmens mentioned. Finally I *cough*.....wait........move on to more profitable stuff.
  15. I'd probably buy it at some point for 2B. I mean thats only like 4M prestige anyhows and I've blown tons up into prestige just because.
  16. I'm thinking I'm going to dump some into the crazy 88's since my main is blueside atm and thus I can't blow the inf up on my own VG on Freedom. Of course I hope Fulmens will match me too.
  17. Sonic is too powerful for MM I suspect for the same reason we don't see /Rad or /Kin.

You can get part of the goodness for Merc with Merc/Thermal.
  18. Since my main is blueside atm and I only destroy inf through her on Freedom, I may join this project until I am done blueside badging.

How much are people generally throwing in? 1B 2B 20B?
  19. Someone setting a bid price and quantity and a sell price and quantity in the real world is called a market maker. They are indispensible in the real world stock market as well (though regulated there unlike here.....muhaha.....ahem)

I agree that most of the issue is related to the feeble storage of salvage (and to a lesser degree recipes) that toons are allowed. Note that there has not been the same type of explotability on halloween salvage which can be stored up to 99 per kind as there is on other forms of salvage and its only available for part of the year.

    Good basic guide to marketeering.
  20. I've never posted a pic of one of my toons with 1 or 2B on them....but I make like 500M-1B between my marketing toons every single day and I could post the prestige shot of my main (with like 80+ M prestige) to show that I've blown up enough inf to be ebil many times over (and enough to get my duo-VG with spouse into the top 50 on freedom).

I wonder if I qualify as ebil or not w/o posting the pics.

Also my worst hate mail came from someone who heard that I blew up 5B inf earlier in the day. I didn't keep it but basically their mail was like "I can't believe you destroy inf when so many others want it to buy the stuff they want." I mailed them back asking what they wanted. Then I bought one of each and gave them away to random noobs in mercy without the 3 mos vet badge (new accounts so maybe actually new) and sent a mail to them to that effect. Of course if ebil was evil.....I'd have deleted them and sent pics.

I guess my definition of ebil is such (match at least 3 for ebil -- all 6 for super-ebil):

    1) You make at least 50% of your income from the market (not selling drops)

    2) You have a repeatable system established which provides a predictable income from the market.

    3) You buy and sell the same item at the same time with your buy prices lower than sells (if you're the other way you're not ebil.....you're inf destroying)

    4) You own at least one niche

    5) You understand how to market PvP to protect your niche(s)

    6) You have so much inf you don't know what to do with all of it because you'd cause inflation if you tried to spend it all (making Fulmens mad too!)
  21. I love when people bid creep. Just yesterday I had 2 people bid creep and add extra 0's to bids.

One was a payment of 135M (try at 13.5?) for something selling for 15M typically and had listed at 12.5M.

Another was for 4 recipes of mine totalling 280M selling for 10M (try at 7M each and ended up 70?).

So yes....please bid creep more on your laptops or when you've been drinking heavily.

I kept a spreadsheet at one time of where my profits came from and 9% were from typos leading to roughly 10x the intended bid. People seem to type a little better now....though part of it is I have moved on to doing stuff sometimes where a 10x bid takes you over the cap which protects bad typers.
  22. When you're dealing with common IOs remember alot of the people selling them just made them to get a badge. Since there is also a badge for selling 50 IOs they're just happy anyone has a bid out at all and they don't have to delete them or hand them to nearby lowbies.
  23. I started my project to get to #1 on Freedom because I got sick of recruit spam from a handful of VG in Cap. I want to be able to spam a snappy retort that I'm not recruiting and in fact #1......then I'll list the ebil folks who helped me get there....rather than all the PL, TF, and crap I supposedly run.

Removing inf from supply will lower prices if we do enough of it. Without access to the devs datamining tools its hard to say exactly, but I'd guess that something along the lines of 50B of inf enters the game every day and current inf sinks remove maybe 2.5B of it at most. So if we actually want to lower prices significantly we have 2 choices....we can pop tons of high end stuff (I lowered prices myself on redside purples in i14 because so few were doing non-AE stuff) or we can destroy tons of inf. Best of all we can do both at once.....I have been splitting time between marketeering and running amerit tips missions at +1 x8 to generate desirable items (and lower their price). Since I then "blow up" the inf I earn for the most part, I am doing something to lower prices. I can't do it alone in merged market though......so thats where Fulmens, Crazy 88's etc come in.

Anyhows, its mine....I earned it in this silly game so if I want to blow it up, I can.
  24. If anyone wants to make donations my project on Freedom (I'm already ranked #48 or so). I think I only need a couple hundred billion more. I will include the globals of anyone who donates at least 5 billion to this in my we're not recruiting but #1 spam that I will bellow every time I see a SG/VG do a recruit spam more than once in a zone in 5 mins.

I've already destroyed 10's of billions and may be the one who inspired Fulmen's project.

Lets show the AE exploiters who run whatever maps for prestige that marketeering is stronger than AE and their 5 vets and 70 noobs!
  25. Deleting purples for a badge would just lead to an increase in the price of sleep purples.

I think letting people have a vanity npc who says praises would be a great way. Make the person pay per praise or whatever.
